  This was an expansive home and property adjacent to undeveloped land giving it a sense of privacy and serenity, with a view of the mountains from the living areas and patio. The pool was small but otherwise perfect, and the large patio/terrace was fully furnished with tables, chairs, umbrellas, loungers, and a deluxe gas grill. The house was well furnished and stocked with everything you might need (though the interior decor looked like it came from Ross). All in all, a terrific place for a family reunion/getaway like ours. Rental arrangements were handled by an agent, Brooke, who was not the warmest person to deal with. Meanwhile the owner himself, a nice guy, showed up unannounced. I have to wonder if he was checking up on us. I might suggest that you come to the front door next time.

I certainly take any type of negative remarks about our customer service or the properties we manage very seriously. The owner of the property wants renters to have an enjoyable experience and he likes to extend himself by letting renters know that he is available for you should you need anything during your stay or should anything go wrong. As you know, it's a very large house and there are a lot of systems and issues that could arise. I assure you he wasn't checking up on you, he just wants guests to feel welcome and comfortable. We did our best to accomodate your early check in and late check out and strived to give you the best customer service possible.   We have used the VRBO site previously for vacation rentals in Coronado, CA. We had one very good experience and one not so good experience. Brooke did come recommended through a friend of a friend who has rented properties in the Santa Barbara area through her for some time. But I had actually already been on the website which I found very easy to use, the photo's were excellent and had already had some communication with Brooke through email when the connection was made with the friend. The service and personable communication was the same throughout and I am a client that dots the i's and crosses the t's with a lot of questions. My husband said that he had a couple of conversations with you (owner) during our visit and appreciated your attention to the home and how our stay was going but he also mentioned that this was the first time you had used a management company. Since I handled all the details of the rental I wanted you to know that you have made a good choice with Brooke and her staff at Santa Barbara Vacation Rentals. We not only will use Brooke again (and we appreciate the credit for a future trip) but would love to stay in your wonderful home again. Our entire family enjoyed all of the amenities and that the home was everything it was represented to be.

• Wonderful place for a family gathering

  We brought our 4 adult children (all in their 20's) here last year for a family vacation. One of them came from Colorado, one came from Quebec, and the rest of us live in Ohio, so it was a good chance to gather without holiday demands or other obligations. In this beautiful home we could be together without being on top of each other. We had each of the kids be in charge of one night's meal, and the big kitchen was well able to handle each one's different choices in cuisine. There is lots to do in Santa Barbara and the Santa Ynez valley (who knew kids this old would really get a kick out of the Ostrich Farm in Solvang?) but you could just stay in this house and have a wonderful time with all there is to do. We want to come back again - maybe this time with adult couples. It is just perfect!

  Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

  This was our second stay at this well maintained beautiful, spotless home. With all of the places available anywhere in the country, our family all wanted to return here. The photos are good but don't do it justice as far as the fabulous location with such a sweeping vista. I love to cook and this well appointed kitchen was a dream come true and the huge dining table was filled to capacity most evenings. Our days were filled with so many activities and always ended with fun and relaxation in the pool and hot tub. Cars are a necessity, we had 3 for 9 people so no one felt that they couldn't do their own thing if they so wished. We loved down town Santa Barbara, the Italian Restaurant, great grocery stores, Sat. A.M. Market, Santa Barbara Pier (lunch), Botanical Gardens, Lotus Land, The fabulous resale shops at Montecito Music Academy, Seal Sanctuary at Carpinteria, having surfing lessons at Carpinteria Beach, Antique shops in Summerland, taking 154 over the pass to Santa Ynez Valley to visit Solvang, Los Alamos, Los Olivos, the wineries and Happy Canyon ranch area.Had good eats at Stage Stop Tavern just over pass off 154. Added adventure was taking the Ridge drive along crest of range you view from house to see fabulous views of Santa Barbara and beaches as well as valley and huge dam on other side in valley. Access Ridge Road by "Painted Cave Road almost atop pass on 154" When you reach the T in the road- take road to the right and it goes all along the ridge through the Los Padres National Forest. We loved the owner who was always available and a fountain of info that he was willing to share to make our stay more enjoyable. Thanks for the memories! Hope we're able to return again soon.
