Location: Anchorage, Alaska, USA (10 minutes from airport, 15 minutes from city center) View Map
Accommodations: Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 6)
Keywords: Cabin
This cozy lakeside cabin is 10 minutes from the airport. Walk out to the lake in the backyard and cast a line for rainbow trout; take the canoe for a spin; watch the wild geese swim by, or wade in for a swim yourself! While you will feel secluded at the cabin, within blocks you will find fast food restaurants, a first class 24 hour grocery store, and bike trails for riding or walking. .
From the outside it looks like a cabin but once inside you will find a modern, comfortable home. The master bedroom can be set up with a king bed or two twins. With a trundle bed in the second bedroom, two more can sleep comfortably there. There is also a box spring futon in the bonus room, so there is extra room to sit and for two more to sleep. Add a fully equipped kitchen, a dining room and a living room and you have enough room for a large group if desired.
You can hear our loons' wild calls day or night. Canada Geese often bring their new fuzzy families to our backyard to munch on the lawn. An Osprey frequents the lake and can sometimes be seen catching fish in its own unique way. Bald eagles (a common sight to Alaskans) frequent the lake as well.
We hope we can share our dream come true property with you sometime soon!

After a long trip with much mileage in Alaska, we had a few days to relax and spend in Anchorage before going home. We couldn't have chosen a better place to enjoy Anchorage. The cabin sits in a great spot directly at Jewel Lake and has all the amenities that you would expect. The owners are helpful and knowledgeable. All in all, we enjoyed our stay Anchorage Lakeside Cabin Retreat

My new husband and I had the pleasure of having our wedding in the yard of the cabin. My family stayed in the cabin the week of the wedding and thought it was very nice. The cabin has a large deck with an amazing view of the lake which is great for having a BBQ while enjoying the view. The inside of the cabin was very cozy and comfortably slept 6 adults. If you are looking for a beautiful and comfortable place to stay book this cabin, you will not be disappointed.

Larry & Mary, Thank you so much for sharing your lakeside cabin with us. Conveniently located to the airport (found it easily in the middle of the night), warm, cozy and clean when we arrived. Outfitted with everything we needed and the setting was outstanding. A beautiful view of the snowy lake, a nice fire, a good book and really quiet - what more can a person ask for. Your cabin provided the perfect setting for a long overdue renunion, layed back and homey, much better than a hotel. My husband truely felt that he had "Come Home" to Alaska. Thank you for your attention to detail and your lovely hospitality. We will certainly consider staying again on future trips. Warmly, Jack & Johna

We give this cabin our highest rating. Eveything about it is terrific including the kind owners, the setting on the lake, the location, and the clean, comfortable accomodations. We loved boating on the lake (with the loons), fishing, and watching a moose swim the lake and walk through the back yard.

We arrived to find two junk vehicles parked in driveway, which left no parking spot for our vehicle. Gnats were flying around the cabin by the thousands. It was over 80 degrees inside, and there were no curtains in the living room. Additionally, the windows and patio door, (on the lakeside of the house) where the sun was beating in, did not have screens, nor could the windows be opened. There was a breeze outside that probably would have relieved the heat issue, but without screens, it was near impossible considering the thousands of bugs. To add to our disappointment, it was not clean as there were crumbs and hair on the carpet and furniture. We were gravely disappointed and left immediately. The owner informed us that the above reasons were not reasonable for a refund, so we had to elevate the issue. We would not recommend this vacation rental to anyone. We have stayed at many places found on VRBO and have never had an experience like this. In the end, we left the unit hot, sweaty and covered in bugs, and ended up paying over $270 a night at a hotel because of this. Please don't waste your time, especially since the owner is not willing to be more accommodating to his guests; if there is an issue, you will not get a refund whatsoever. Renter beware!
Owner response: I feel bad about this one and I don't blame these guests for being upset. Here's my viewpoint: I was in fact INITIALLY unwilling to offer a refund. My hope was that after I addressed their concerns (by moving vehicles, telling them about the window screens that they didn't notice, etc.) I could convince them to return the second night. I did email them right away and invite them back. When there was no response I emailed them again the next day and offered any amount of refund that they thought fair. I emailed them a few more times. But there were never any responses to my emails. I see now that my mistake was to email instead of call. I later learned that they were unable to check email during the period of time I was sending emails. Had I reached them right away I think this situation could have been avoided. I think what happened here was an unfortunate series of circumstances and since I wasn't on site to make face to face contact (like I usually do) the guests got the wrong impression. None of their concerns have ever been raised by any of our past guests. Please don't let this uncharacteristic review discourage you from giving our place a try. When most of our guests arrive they comment that the cabin is even nicer than they had envisioned.

I highly recommend this property. It is so comfortable, cozy, and very quiet. I love the private lake front yard. The fireplace kept us toasty during this cool April stay. There is plenty of space and sleeping accommodations. The property is located near everything you could possibly want. This is certainly a 5 star b & b in my opinion!! Larry & Mary have been gracious hosts. Thank you both for an enjoyable stay in Anchorage! I feel so lucky to have found your b&b and will certainly spread the word.
