Beautiful home

Our family enjoyed a week at this very well maintained home. The house is huge, and will easily accommodate two families. Even though it feels very remote, the location is ideally located within a couple of miles of every store you might need...Shaw's and Wal-Mart included. We cooked most of our meals in, and found that we needed more serving platters and cookware, so you might want to bring some extra. Otherwise, the house has amenities galore. Having a washer and dryer was a bonus. The community beaches are nice and gradual. We used the kayaks to explore the basin area too. The house has a beautiful view of the lake, but it's a little walk to get to the beach. This was doable, but a bit of a hassle with a toddler and gear. Having said that, it was fun to meet up with some other renters at the beach. We even had a little bonfire complete with s'mores on the beach our last night.

Beautiful House

Guest: Cargo (Vermont)
Date of Stay: 07/17/10 Review Submitted: 07/27/10

We rented in mid July. The house is stunning inside and out. It cant be more than a couple years old, VERY clean. Beautiful hardwood floors, tile bathrooms, great appliances and tastefully decorated with warm comfortable colors. The view from the bedroom and den on the lake side is very nice. The ping pong table in the garage and the air hockey table up stairs are great ideas. Wireless internet in the house was a double edge sword if you know what I mean. There is a grocery store (Shaws) less than a mile from the house. The surrounding area is well populated with all the amenities that come with that available. Plenty of restaurants, stores and activities. One of the really nice things about the location of this house is that it's in the Sebago Lake Basin so you are sheltered from the winds and waves you get on the main part of the lake. We have stayed on large lakes like Lake Champlain and when the winds kick up it can ruin your day. Being in the basin is a plus. Directly in front of the house is a small street, one lane and extremely slow/sparse travel, no danger here. Across the street is about 10 yards of lakefront with a nice dock but you cannot access it from there. The neighbors own it and they dont share, at all. You must walk down the street about 100 yds to the common beach. The beach is very nice with plenty of room and even on the weekends it wasn't crowded. If you brought a boat you can keep your boat at a mooring right off the beach. The house comes with a kayak to get you back and forth to your boat. In the daytime there is a spot along side the beach to beach your boat if you'd like. Overall the experience was a plus and the renter's add was accurate. I didn't know you couldn't access the lake directly in front of the house until I got there. That was a surprise. We came to fish and we were in and out of our boats a lot. Walking down the street with all our gear back and forth was a little bit of a pain. We had to launch the boats at the public launch several miles away. Once the boat is in, it's 5 miles back to Sebago Lake Basin where the house is at. The only other thing I didn't like was the check out cleaning you're required to do. Stripping the beds and sweeping, no problem. Cleaning the bathrooms? That's crossing the line. We did it but that is definitely not on my list of things to do while renting. Did I mention the house was beautiful?
