Wonderful! Wonderful!

Guest: tricia a.
Date of Stay: 04/05/12 Review Submitted: 04/12/12

We felt at home as soon as we walked in! We stayed for Easter and were greeted by a box of locally made chocolates which were delish! The home was very clean and very comfortable. The yard was gorgeous (my kids ran around for hours) and the firepit was perfect on a chilly night. There were even marshmallow roasting forks available for our use and our children LOVED making smores! The ONLY reason I wouldnt recommend this home to anyone is because I want it all to MYSELF! It was a perfect place to spend this holiday and we have already discussed spending many more!

Owner response:Thank you Tricia. We love it when our guests have an enjoyable and fullfilling experience. We too are looking forward to your return visit.

Restful Family Vacation!

Guest: Liane I.
Date of Stay: 10/15/11 Review Submitted: 01/10/12

This was the first time our family ever rented a home for a vacation trip. We were NOT disappointed. We wondered why we didn't do this sooner! Having no other experience to rate against, to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay, we have already booked our next vacation to stay here---to make sure no one else rents the home during our vacation time. This, 10 months in advance! The home was very spacious for our family of nine. Every thing was thought of as if it was our own home---including the store card for the local grocery store so we could get the discounts! Family members told us we had to pack everything we would need for the kitchen--soap, dish soap, dish detergent, paper towels, toilet paper etc. when you rent a home. Not here! They cover everything (minus the laundry detergent) including birthday candles and skewers for the grill. It was clean, pleasantly decorated and the whole feel of the Stone Farmhouse gives you a feeling of privacy in the country. There is plenty of storage, dresser, and closet space for all. We rented during the cooler months so we didn't get a chance to use the pool but I can imagine how much fun it must be for anyone who does get to. It was so conveniently located to our purpose for going to vacation in PA. We would give the Stone Home a higher rating if we could and the incredible hospitality of the Poole family is exceptional. Don't stay in a hotel/motel. Come here for your next vacation---just don't take our time slot! Liane, MA

Quiet Retreat

Guest: Joe (Waukee, Iowa)
Date of Stay: 05/03/11 Review Submitted: 05/17/11

The home was very clean, the grounds very attractive, and the description very accurate. It was a lovely place to spend a quiet vacation or retreat. Finding it was quite difficult, roads were not marked correctly and we could find no one in the area that was familiar with the Stone Farmhouse. There could be better instructions as to how to find the location. We never saw the owners and everything was conducted via email or letters – very professional.

Owner response:We certainly enjoyed having these guests at The Stone Home. We regret when anyone has trouble finding the property. Virtually all guests use either Nav systems, Mapquest, or Smart phones to locate The Stone Home. These services will take one right to the property. If a guest doesn't have access to these devices, we welcome a call so we can talk them in.

We had a wonderful time at the Stone Farmhouse. It was beautiful, secluded, cozy, clean, and well-heated (we were there in the winter time). The owner was very nice, gave me an exhaustive list of things to do in the area, and was very responsive to my questions/inquiries. I'd highly recommend this house to any person or group of people who is hoping to spend some time in Lancaster.

Short Autumn break

Guest: CXG (UK)
Date of Stay: 10/13/09 Review Submitted: 10/20/09

This is a lovely, well equipped house in a great area with lots to do and see. Our party of 8 (2 families with young adult children) had a wonderful time, despite the 3 days of rain and there was plenty of room for us all. The good internet connection and audio visual equipment (including play station) were particularly appreciated by the younger members of the party. The comprehensive information provided for residents and the welcome pack, including home made cookies, were nice touches.

This is an awesome place to relax. Also to base out of for the Lancaster region. The minute we pulled into the long treed lined driveway we knew we were in for a treat. All 8 ladies loved the place. It was spacious and suited our needs well. It was not warm enough for us to use the pool...but it sure looked inviting! I have stayed at many vacation rentals and I can say that this is a first class accommodation. I would certainly recommend it as a place to spend a week! Also, any need that was brought up to the owners was addressed immediately. Oh yes and thanks for the homemade cookies upon arrival!!

My eight sisters and I enjoyed a weekend at this wonderful house in early April. It is truly a spacious and comfortable home with many charming decorator touches. The setting is peaceful and beautiful. We didn't want to leave!

Owner response:Who hasn't enjoyed a dream of a house in the country? Come to the Stone Home at Shallowbrook Farm and make it come true.

My girlfriends & I stayed at this home last month for our annual shopping trip to the outlets. The home more than met our expectations...starting from the moment we walked in to be greeted by a plate of home baked cookies! Every room is so beautifully decorated & you feel like your in someone's home & not a rental. We definitely plan on staying there again.

Owner response:If a shopping excursion is in your future, you'll love the multitude of outlets within a short drive from the Stone Home. In addition, Lancaster City (10 mins) offers spectacular boutique and specialty shopping. Come see!

The purpose of our trip was a girl's weekend away for our annual trip to tour holiday houses. The property was fantastic and we found that after our tour, we just wanted to go back to "our" house to relax. What a fantastic place to relax! I've rented a lot of vacation rentals and this one is right up there on my list of favorites.

9 of us stayed in this house last July. It is a true gem and we are going to return. Owners very nice and run property with true professionalism. This was a great place to have a family vacation- many things to do in the surrounding areas.

Owner response:We enjoyed having Laura and her family at Shallowbrook Farm. Whether your interest is outlet shopping, historic architecture, amusement parks, Amish lifestyles, or just relaxing poolside in a pastoral county setting with no nearby neighbors, Shallowbrook Farm can be part of a memory-making vacation.

Wonderful family vacation

Guest: Marge and Ted (Holland, MI )
Date of Stay: 08/09/08 Review Submitted: 09/09/08

Our family usually meet for our vacations near the water, so we were trying something different this year. We are so glad we did! It was a special, memorable week. We felt like special house guests at the Stone Home, and not like renters. The owners thought of everything to make us feel at home and comfortable. The house is tastefully decorated and stocked witih everything we needed. The manuals of instructions and things to do were extremely helpful. Our grandkids loved the pool and the yard games, not to mention the game room. We visited Chocolate World and the Hersey theme park, fished in the stream, played golf and basketball, shopped the outlets, took a buggy ride, and enjoyed the local famr markets and eateries. The only problem was that one week wasn't enough. Our time there was brief, but GREAT. When we were considering renting this house last winter, we emailed the owners and they told us we would not be disappointed. They were SO RIGHT. We hope to return again for another visit in a few years.

Owner response:We really enjoyed having Marge and Ted at Shallowbrook Farm -- they were great. Have you considered going someplace "different" on your next trip away? Central PA and The Stone Home offer a tremendous array of fun and fascinating activities for any group. You will not be disappointed after visiting our special place on the planet!

Delighted

Guest: Brice & Donna (Nampa, ID)
Date of Stay: 07/12/08 Review Submitted: 08/04/08

Our family rented this home as a place to bring together Mom's children and their families to celebrate her 75th Birthday. This home truly became home for us during the week. The description and pictures of the property were accurate but could not capture what a warm and comfortable place we found this property to be. The arrangements are beautiful but comfortable. The property was meticulously groomed, the house immaculate, and the furnishings lovely. Every detail seems to have been considered - from marking all the light switches so there was no need to guess or stumble around in the dark, to home baked cookies to greet us, to games and puzzles for the family to enjoy. The outside grounds are peaceful and beautiful with lovely places to walk, relax by the pool, or lay in the hammock. The proximity to activities was great so that we had some time to enjoy Philadelphia (the zoo and an historic tour)and Lancaster County - outlet shopping, great miniature golf very close, pretzel factory, and smorgasbord. However, we loved the house so much, we changed our plans for more excursions and stayed "home" to just enjoy the property. It was great having room for 9 of us to eat together in the dining room or the kitchen. Thank you for providing such a lovely home to visitors. I have shared pictures and recommended this property to all my friends. I am already looking for some "excuse" to travel east again and to find a way to stay at Shallowbrook.

Owner response:Brice, Donna and their family were great guests -- we look forward to seeing them again! Think of those places you've been that hold a page in your mind as truly "special places". Spots that you won't soon forget. Shallowbrook Farm is just such a place. Why not "find some excuse" to come stay for a while and see for yourself?

The home was much more beautiful then we would ever imagine. We enjoyed our stay. We enjoyed the horses and walking around your land. I would recommend this property to my friends. It was very clean and well-maintined. We went on the Strasburg Train, Train Museum, Reading outlet stores, Outlet stores in Lancaster, and the Echo Caverns. We also enjoyed going to Good 'N Plenty and Miller's Smorgasbord. Your brochures were very helpful in us finding things to do in Lancaster. I also enjoyed reading your log of previous tenants and their experiences. We hated to return home we had such a relaxing time at your home. We would like to return again sometime in the future.

Owner response:It was great having Michele and Mark and their family with us! They're right -- there's a TON of great things to do and see all within a short drive from The Stone Home at Shallowbrook Farm. Why not come down and see for yourself?

What a great house and surroundings. It was fun watching the workers working the horses, walking by the Amish school and just enjoying the peaceful surroundings. The house was very clean and the furnishings were excellent with plenty of dishes, etc.. Had a great time...recommend it to anyone..

Owner response:We really enjoyed having Bette and Phil at Shallowbrook Farm. They were wonderful guests and we look forward to their return. If you'd enjoy experiencing a working horse farm and seeing the Amish from a "neighbor's perspective", we'd welcome your visit!

Wonderfully Beautiful

Guest: jennidb (Pawtucket, RI)
Date of Stay: 12/01/07 Review Submitted: 01/23/08

Our group was two families - one family of six, the other, of four, and we never once felt crowded or uncomfortable. The house and property are as beautiful in December as any other time of the year. Neatly-lanscaped holly bushes and various plantings surrounded our daily hikes throughout the property. Baked goodies and wrapped gifts waited under the lighted Christmas tree for our arrival. It kindled youthful Pennsylvania memories for a Mom now "misplaced" in urban Rhode Island:) We'd love to return again (or at least, remodel our home to mimick our stay!)

We are real beach vacationers, but decided to try something different this year. This place was great. It proved to be a much more relaxing trip than the beach thing....didn't have to drag sand toys, coolers, etc. We all had a great time. The weather was awesome the whole week we were there and the kids just wanted to be in the pool. It is best to initially arrive during the day as we had to flash our headlights to the late arrivers. The house was really well decorated and well supplied. Thanks again for a great week.

Highly recommended beautiful house in amish country. We visited Lancaster area for tennis tournament and staying in this house with other members of our team gave us unforgettable expirience. Sitting by the pool with cold glass and watching horses and sunset, what can be better after all day playing tennis. You will feel like at your home away, with welcome jar of delicious home made cookies and basket of fruit. Enjoy it !
