We have stayed at many cabins and this ranks among the top! Great location with easy access to nearby attractions. Great hot tub with a view. Excellent amenities and conditions inside the cabin. We would recommend to anyone!

Perfect Location for Winter Skiing

This was our second year in a row staying at this cabin. Perfect size for our family of four, but could accomidate a larger crowd as well. Great location as situated between AppSki in Blowing Rock and Sugar Mountain in Banner Elk, easy 20 minute drive to either. Very private and quiet. What fun it was sitting in the hot tub after skiing, light snow, while watching deer walk down the hill adjacent to the cabin.

Great for families

We took our son-in-law, daughter and their two little ones for a week in he mountains and this place was perfect for all of us. There are two master bedrooms and another with twin beds for the kids. We put a small crib in the third bedroom for the two year old and it worked fine. The parents used the hot tub and we all enjoyed being able to cook dinner and keep up with laundry easily. Having the video games on a separate tv upstairs was also helpful with little ones. There's plenty to do in the Boone area and there was also a wonderful playground near by with a good walking and jogging trail. The only drawback to this property was that we couldn't walk much right around the cabin. Everything is close by but if you're looking for somewhere that children can play right outside the cabin this won't work.

Owner response:While we do have a large property with an acre and a half, and a big wrap-around deck on three sides, it's never a good idea to let your 2 and 5 year olds "run out to play" unattended. There is plenty of room to walk and hike for any of our guests. We cater to so many families with young children and never had such a comment.I'm glad you had a nice stay, nevertheless!

Beautiful, Cozy and Roomy Little Getaway!!

Gorgeous western cedar cabin perfectly located in the vicinity of Boone, Valle Crucis, Blowing Rock, the Zip Line, and much, much more. I used the cabin as my base camp while attending the BMW vintage motorcycle rally in Boone, and it provided a welcome comfort after a day of riding through the mountains. Guaranteed to get wet during this season, it only made coming home to this cozy little cabin and its easy to use hot tub even more inviting. A lot more privacy than most cabins, and I chose to stay in the master suite upstairs because it felt like I was in a treehouse will all the trees outside of the window. All amenities were on hand, so I didn't require much except small things like fresh berries, and eggs to enjoy on their outside little bistro table. Very organized, and charming, I will surely recommend Carol and Ray's home to all of my friends, and will definitely return again. Thank you soo much!!

Just returned home today from our stay in this beautiful cabin! Everything was just as it is described & better. Extremely clean & everything you need is in the cabin. Hottub is wonderful...we saw deer in the woods around the cabin several times while enjoying the hot tub. Owners are great to deal with & check in/out very simple. We will never stay in a hotel when visiting this area again. I would highly recommend a vacation in this cabin!

The cabin is great. We were there for our son's graduation from ASU and the weekend was perfect. There were three generations together and we used Around the Bend as our home base. The home is beautiful and so clean and comfortable. The location is just what we were looking for. Close to Boone but also peaceful and quiet. We all enjoyed the beautiful deck and hot tub. Went to Valle Crucis for Mom's Day and had a wonderful time, would recommend it. The owners were great to work with and it was just a good experience overall. It's the first time we've done VRBO and I wish we would have thought of it 4 years ago! So much nicer than a hotel.

What a wonderful place. We have stayed at some very nice places throughout the country but this one wins.Quiet,peaceful and secluded. We felt as though the woods were all ours.An easy drive to the many sights around the country and oh,, the hot tub, just the right relaxer after chasing our golf balls all over the mountain courses.Needless to say, we would recommend this property to any and all mountain lovers. Beautiful cabin close to Boone. Our daughter is a student at Appalachian State and the location was perfect for a visit. The cabin has every amenity, is extremely well maintained, and the owners are a pleasure to do business with. This was the first time that we had rented a cabin. After doing much research online, we chose "Around the Bend". We'll definitely be back.

This cabin was wonderful! My husband and I traveled with our four children and the cabin fit us like a glove. We hiked, traveled the Blue Ridge Parkway, went fishing, shopped at the General Mast store, etc. The cabin was in a perfect location for us! The pictures do not do it justice! Carol is a wonderful host and we would definitely stay there again!! This was one of the best vacations we have ever had.

Every year we get together with a group of friends. Valentine's & President's Day Weekend, 2009 Dear Carol and Ray, What a lovely cabin you have! You have outfitted it perfectly and we wanted for not. A very special treat this weekend was sitting in the hot tub and watching the snowflakes sparkle in the spotlights in the night sky. We had 2 wonderful fires that helped the cabin smell fantastic and we sipped champagne and ate chocolates -- just what we need to do for a Valentine's Day weekend! Dear Carol and Family, My husband surprised me for our anniversary by taking me to "Around the Bend". I had never been to this beautiful part of NC and we loved every minute! Your home is so beautiful. We used the fireplace every night and enjoyed the hot tub as it snowed. What a treat for us city-folk! We were impressed at all the space you have in your log cabin. Nov. 8 - 13th, 2007 It's been a laidback & relaxing vacation! Me, my husband (Jim), and toddler Cecelia, thank you for a special memory here. Thanks for sharing your beautiful log cabin with us. We spent 5 beautiful days with our Daugher, Son in law, granddaughers( 3 and 10 months and son. July 7-14, 2007 Thank you for sharing your cozy home. We have had the best family vacation ever! We managed to hit all of the typical tourist spots (Chimney Rock, Grandfather Mountain, Linville Caverns, Blue Ridge, etc...) Beacon Heights (mile marker 304) is a "must see" view and easy hike along the Blue Ridge Parkway. We went white water rafting & tubing with a super friendly group called River and Earth Adventures. They are located close to the Mast General Annex store. On their tour, we jumped off a cliff & rope swing into the ice cold Watauga River. They fed us an organic lunch with edible flowers. The rafting waters were perfect for our children. The kids loved catching fire flies. We found crawfish in creeks & caught trout too. We don't want to leave. Aug. 3-6, 2006 Your home was the perfect setting for our annual siblings get-together. The minute we walked in the door, we felt right at home in your beautiful and comfortable cottage. Dear Russotto family, My husband and I had the pleasure of bringing our son's two children, Ellie (8) and Ethan (4) to the mountains for the weekend. Our grandchildren live in Wilmington, North Carolina and have NEVER seen this amount of snow. Do you know what memories they will have of snow falling, snowballs all around the porch railing while in the HOT TUB?!!! So will their grandparents have great memories. They do not want to leave...they'll miss the fire in the fireplace, the snow, this beautiful cabin and making bird calls off the front porch!! Your neighbors may not miss them though. What a great cabin! Thank you so much for sharing it with us! My husband & I and our 4 daughters & my parents had a great time. Roasted marshmallows, hiked, went shopping in Blowing Rock, played cards, Sat out on the deck w/ awesome wine, enjoyed the jacuzzi at night (clear beautiful stars). Amazing weather 65 -- 78 during the day -- unheard of! Had to wear short sleeves in March! Sat for hours in the rocking chairs. Had steaks on the grill -- Yum!
