Delightful Experience

Dear Andy & Barbara, Our stay at your mountain cabin has been truly delightful! The fall colors were magnificent and the cabin and surrounding property clearly shows the loving attention and thoughtful details you've given to it over the years. For the past week, we've felt like we were " living in a Norman Rockwell painting", always with smiling faces and humming Somewhere "Over the Rainbow" lyrics while walking along your beautiful stream along the Marshall Brown Road that surrounds your property. Thanks for the memories! We'll be back for a "second helping" in the summer. Tony and Sharon

Saturday Evening Post Cover?

Staying in this cabin definitely takes you back in time to a simpler, slower lifestyle and yet allows you to stay in touch with the real world if you want (or need to) via high speed wireless, cable TV, and a landline! What an incredibly relaxing week! A sense of peace came over me as we drove up the beautiful mountain road - a peace that I only find in the mountains of North Carolina. As we pulled in the driveway I exclaimed, "Oh my gosh, it's just like the picture (duh!) but better!" And indeed, it just kept getting better and better. Amazingly, the peace lingers even a week after returning to reality! The owners have made every effort to provide all the comforts of home from the comfortable furnishings, the well-equipped kitchen, soaps and paper products, extra linens, and blankets, to a cozy throw on the sofa. I don't know how it could have been better. The setting is gorgeous - at almost 4,000 feet you still look up at the surrounding mountaintops. The first evening, standing at the back door, I watched the sun and clouds playing on the mountainside, creating a quiltlike patchwork of lights and darks on the trees.of red, gold, orange, and yellow mixed with the grays and browns of the already bare trees, and patches of evergreens. Every night the show was different. Another evening we ventured down to the creek where all the picnic amenities are provided including a picnic table, charcoal grill complete with dry charcoal, starter, lighter, fire ring, cut and split fire wood, and folding chairs for sitting around the campfire! We choose to cook brats over the campfire and then spent a while just sitting, enjoying the sounds of the creek as we waited for the fire to burn out and darkness. We really appreciated the welcoming phone call from the owner the evening we arrived - just wanting to make sure everything was as it should be and that we were comfortable. She went on to share information about local roads, a shortcut to the Blue Ridge Parkway (which we thoroughly enjoyed!), areas to hike on the property and more. It was obvious there was a genuine interest in our well-being and comfort. We exchanged several e-mails during my visit and I feel like I have made a new friend! I do not know how the week could have been more perfect. We spent just the right amount of time, hiking, exploring, and shopping, ending each day with a (sometimes warm) libation in front of the fireplace! We will definitely return.

Owner response:Wow, I don't know what to say for such praise. I am so happy the little details didn't go unnoticed. We truly feel as though our renters are our friends and hope they will return year after year. We actually have some renters who have been coming back for 8 years now and others who book the next years week before they leave. We are just so happy to share our little piece of paradise. Thank you.

WOW! What an absolutely perfect getaway. I felt at home as soon as we hit the driveway. We arrived late at night to a cozy home with all the lights on both inside and out. Felt like coming home. The cabin was perfect. Away from the hectic life we normally live yet a close enough proximity to all the things we wanted to see and do. Slept like a baby. Peace, quiet and beauty abounds in this charming home away from home. We're already planning on our next visit before this sanctuary gets booked up.

Our great mountain getaway started with a great cabin. The Edgemon's cabin is an ideal setting to enjoy this beautiful part of North Carolina. Located in a beautiful mountain setting, with a restful stream right on the property, and a wonderful porch for relaxation was all that was needed for a restful week. If that was not enough, we found beautiful mountain drives in the immediate vicinity with a back road up and onto the Blue Ridge Parkway. Lots of exploring to do in Cashiers, Highlands, Brevard, and short hikes to waterfalls. Already talking about a return.

What a fabulous property! You never know what an online rental may bring, but when we turned the corner it was like a picture in a fairytale. We walked up to the porch (love the porch swing) and walked into the cabin to find it immaculately clean and just what we wanted. Our boys, 5 and 8, could not wait to find the water. There is a path to a fabulous creek with a picnic table, grill and a fire pit for roasting marshmallows. It's like your own park on the property. There is so much to do in the surrounding area, but we found ourselves wanting to retreat back to the cabin early each day. What a relaxing get-a-way. We will definitely be back!

What a fabulous spot to retreat and enjoy the sounds and sights of the smokey mountains. The cabin is perfect in a secluded high woodsy setting but close to lots of activities. The cabin looks like an enchanted doll house in the woods but is furnished with all of the comforts of home. The home is spotless. We loved the beautiful garden and private creek. The hostess really made you feel like a geust.

Hidden Hollow Cabin is a little slice of heaven. Sequestered on a tiny knob, surrounded by an accessible "forest" with a bubbling creek, guests can relax and enjoy nature. Hummingbirds visit the comfortable and inviting front porch, showing no concern for people sitting near their feeder. Even in July, temperatures were cool in the mornings and evening. Air-conditioning was rarely needed. The well-equipped, emaculate cabin is within driving distance of many popular mountain towns such as Cashiers, Highlands, Cherokee, and Asheville. Sylva, the largest of the nearby towns is charming with interesting shops, restaurants, and friendly residents. Arriving at the picturesque cabin to find unlocked doors and raised windows brought back memories of a simpler time. The cabin provided a haven for stress-free days away from everyday cares! It was difficult to pack up and leave!

What a perfect place for a family vacation. We brought our 2 young children (3 and 1). There is so much to do in the surrounding area. The property itself is beautiful and very family friendly. We especially liked the picnic area by the creek!!!

What a beautiful place to stay to experience the mountains of Western North Carolina. I saw more hummingbirds on the front porch in one afternoon than I've seen my entire life. The area down by the creek is great and what a place to barbeque. Thank you for a wonderful vacation, we'll be back!
