Why stay in a cramped hotel room when you can have all the comforts of home for less?
Charming, historic one bedroom apartment that has recently been completely renovated with love and care. Traditional Parisian stone-faced building dating from the 1920's with fireplaces in both the living room and bedroom. The apartment is located on the 1st floor (European).
We are minutes away from the famous rue Daguerre, a typical market street packed with fresh fruit and vegetable stands, butchers, chocolate shops, restaurants, flower shops and bakeries. The local market takes place on Tuesday and Friday afternoons. Lots of guidebooks and local information are at your disposal during your stay.
Some ideas for your stay: Our ideal day starts with a stop at our favorite local bakery for some warm pains au chocolat. We then head over to one the local markets to check out the fresh offers for the day. The afternoon is spent exploring one of the numerous close by attractions, Jardin du Luxembourg, Notre Dame, Opera, or the Catacombs or a visit to one of Paris' wonderful museums: Musee D'Orsay, the Pompidou Centre, or the Musee Carnavalet. In the evening enjoy some of the best and most affordable French restaurants the city has to offer or pop out to see an opera or a concert in one of Paris' many exceptional venues.
Truly your home away from home in Paris with all amenities included: Fully equipped kitchen, Internet access with WiFi, Cable TV, Electric kettle, hairdryer, telephone, stereo with CD player, etc. The apartment even offers a full library of both French and English books, including numerous guidebooks to the city and novels to unwind with at the end of the day.
Just steps to the Metro (Lines four and six) and the RER-B. Excellent direct access for Charles de Gaulle (Roissy) and Orly airports.

The Unique Benefits at this Apartment
We love the authentic feel of the neighborhood. While we invite guests to come and stay in our home when we are not there, this apartment truly is our home in Paris. We love to hear about guests finding a resource on our bookshelves or the fabulous meals they have created in our kitchen. It makes us feel as though we are not so far away.
The apartment is wonderful too in that is is peaceful, a respite from a busy visitor's day and yet everything one could need is within a few minutes walk.
Come on Tuesday and Friday mornings for the fresh fruit, vegetables, cheese, fish and charcuterie
Come enjoy the peace of this lovely park in the morning. Or come on a week-end for a more lively atmosphere

We are a French-American couple that moved to the US in 2007. We wanted to be able to raise our 2 children in a bi-cultural family so we've held onto our wonderful apartment to allow us to "go back home" once a year.

We stayed at "Chez Pierre" in November and December of 2011 for a work-related 1-month stay. We loved the location and easy access to all the necessities (good restaurants, pharmacies, grocery stores, metro). The apartment was comfortable, quiet, and clean. Tara was very helpful and provided useful suggestions when we had any questions. We loved having their personal library of Paris tourist books, novels, and DVDs for use during our stay. We really had everything we needed. We would definitely stay again if we have the opportunity!

We spent September 2011 in the wonderful apartment of Tara and Pierre - Olivier. They were very helpful before and during our stay. Their home is well-equipped and nicely decorated. The location is fabulous - Rue Daguerre is near - a shopping street much like Rue Cler or Rue Mouffetard. Shopping near Place Alesia is also good - only a block away. Monoprix is across the street and a small ED market is a few steps from the front door. One of the best features is the ease of transportation. Not only is the metro near but there are several bus lines very close to the apartment - and as people who love the bus to "see Paris" slowly, this was a great feature. At least three of the lines also run on Sundays and evenings. We recommend this apartment highly - and we have rented apartments all over Paris!

What a delightful apartment. It was as charming and functional as described by Tara in her VRBO listing. I can confirm the glowing reviews of previous visitors. The location is really ideal for the Metro and the RER. We used the weekly Navigo pass for transportation and had no problems with bus and Metro travel. We always took the Metro/bus whether to the Opera. the theatre or dining out. This is a hassle free way of visiting the city and with the Navigo pass you have unlimited travel around Zone one in the city. We found the apartment well-equipped for eating in with a great convection cooktop.and all the necessary appliances and kitchen furnishings.. The laundry washing machine was a huge help in keeping packing to a minimum.. The apartment is near a major thoroughfare but this was never a problem and we slept soundly every evening.. Staying at Tara's home will enable you to really live a Parisian lifestyle away from the congestion and bustle of the tourist areas such as St. Germain and the Latin Quarter. I strongly recommend the bakery suggested by Tara as well as the restaurant- les Fils de la Ferme- both are outstanding. As well, grocery shopping on the rue Daguerre or at the many shops adjacent to the apartment is a breeze and a rewarding experience . My wife and I stayed in Tara's apartment for a month and had our best Parisian holiday ever. Can't wait to return

The apartment was a great home base for touring around. There are three Metro stops (representing several lines) in easy walking distance, so getting around on public transportation was no trouble at all. There are also many places to eat within walking distance. The nearby Starbucks may not have been authentic but it came in handy when we wanted to grab a quick breakfast with a large cup of coffee (you know, like Americans!) and head out for the day. The apartment was clean and comfortable for the short period of time we spent there every day, and the owner was kind enough to make a dinner reservation for us when I did not want to trot out my high school French.

Our goal when visiting Paris was to stay in an area that was "un-touristy" - this apartment was perfect. We were near numerous key train/Metro stations, could walk to many sites... and we were not affected by crowds of tourists. This apartment was lovely! The listing was accurate and the photos described well the set-up. The propery was clean and well-maintained. The owner was very responsive to all our questions before our arrival. The owners kindly accommodated us with a crib and booster seat for our 10-month old daughter. We could use the laundry facilities during our stay so we packed less clothes. We loved having a kitchen, which enabled us to save a bit of money on restaurant outings. We shopped around for hotels, and renting an apartment gave us more space for less money - and this apartment was just perfect! We recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a place to stay in the 14th.

This is a beautiful little apartament on a very quiet street. It was very easily accessible to fresh markets, excellent restaurants and shopping. It was very comfortably equipped with what we needed for a two week visit with some dining in. There is a plethora of guide books left behind so you actually don't even need to bring your own! Use them! I left one on 24 walks in Paris and I highly recommend it. The owner/administrator is very easy to work with. I would definitely return!

We stayed at the apartment for 2 weeks and found the owners delightful and the apartment very comfortable. It was in a residential neighborhood and was very safe and quiet. There were many stores within 10 minutes or less walking distance including a large grocery. We bought a weekly unlimited metro pass and took that everywhere easily. There are 2 metro stations within a 5-10 minute walk depending on which direction you want to go. We were even able to take the train/Metro directly to the station near the apartment from the airport and did not have to pay an expensive taxi fare. The kitchen was small as most European ones are, but easy to use and had all the things we needed for 2 meals a day there. The bed was very comfortable, and the use of the computer was handy for keeping in touch with family and looking up information. I even got used to the French keyboard pretty quickly. The owners were very friendly, easy to deal with, and were responsive to questions and the couple of minor problems that we had. My only recommendation would be to make the book of directions for the TV, computer, phone...a little more detailed and specific. We had a wonderful stay and would love to go back.

For this trip to Paris, we were looking for a comfortable apartment with character, with a reasonable kitchen, in a non touristy area, for the month of June. We found it in this one! The apartment lives up to the pictures! The large living room/dining room and the large bedroom (lots of storage) have character, while there is a fresh, updated style to the compact kitchen and the bathroom (generous supply of nice towels). The kitchen has been equipped by someone who cooks and bakes. There is an induction cooktop and a convection oven plus a microwave. So many Paris apartments offer a 2 burner hotplate or equivalent plus a toaster oven or microwave. Nice to be able to do laundry in-house too. When we emailed Tara to advise that the kitchen knives (Heinkel in a knife block) needed sharpening, she arranged for a sharpening steel to be delivered. Now that's service! The bookshelves are well stocked including Paris travel guides so we were glad that we had not lugged ours over. This is a lively neighbourhood of Parisians of all ages going about their lives with very few tourists except for those exiting the Catacombs, east along rue Remy Dumoncel. Local food and wine shopping is good. If you don't want to cook, there a number of cafes and restaurants nearby. There are many shops to explore including designer outlets (Stock stores) on Alesia W of Leclerc. The side streets in the area have an interesting mix of residential architecture. This location is well served by public transit for exploring all over Paris, which we did, and has a very convenient direct RER line to CDG airport a few blocks walk away. We settled right in. Our month passed too quickly. We'll recommend this apartment, and hope to return. Tara is a good and helpful host. Merci Tara!

Our week's stay here was too short, but perfectly charming as promised. The apt. on the main RER line from the airport made transportation easy and economical. The metro stations, which were steps away , made travelling around the city very easy. A few blocks away on Rue Mouton Duvernet you will find all manner of eating establishments. On Ave du General Leclerc towards Alesia Stn you will literally find the butcher, the baker, the fishmonger, the cheese store--in case you want to cook a meal. We loved the personal pizzas we got at the italian cafe just steps away from the apt. Speaking of the apt, it was clean, comfortable, charming and had loads of character. I contacted the owner many times before our vacation and she was always helpful with answers. Being in a residential area meant that we weren't overrun with other tourists and could experience more local life. We felt very comfortable and safe staying in this area even when we were out late at night. I wouldn't hesitate to return to this apt and have already mentioned it to many people at home. There are so many pluses in apt rental compared to a hotel room. If you want a home away from home then this is it.

The apartment feels like home from the minute you enter. We've visited Paris many times and this time wanted to spend two weeks just wandering and discovering some of the hidden gems. The apartment provided the perfect base for this with its great links via metro and, especially, via buses. It's very well equipped with comfortable furniture and a great working kitchen. We made the most of the kitchen by eating out at lunchtime and buying supplies at the local markets for dinners chez nous. Everything you could need by way of shops and other amenities is within easy walking distance. Thanks again Tara and Pierre for allowing us to use your apartment - hopefully we'll be back if we can face that 27hour flight - after all we left our sunhats there for next time! Ken and Wendy
