**Summer rates in effect.** One free week night with 7-night rental**July 4th Weekend still available***

Beautiful private home 7000 feet up in the High Sierras, 20 feet from the Stanislaus National Forest. Panoramic forest and mountain views to the South and East. Hiking and skiing trails right out the front door. Complete privacy and solitude. So many windows that you feel like you're outside when you're inside.

Most quiet during the spring thaw, when 'The snow is melting into music.' (John Muir). Wildflowers abounding in July and August, during the annual classical music festival. Glorious warm days and blazing aspens in the Autumn.

Winter brings the full California ski experience. Roads in the residential area are not plowed, so no cars are allowed to enter, and everything remains completely white. The snowmobile ride up from the village adds to the adventure! Road's end location is perfect for sledding.

The two bedrooms, each with an adjoining full bath, are on the entry level. The master bedroom has a woodstove and panoramic views. It has a king-size bed and a twin. The smaller bedroom has a twin bed, and also a trundle bed which can be used as one or two twins. The whole second story is one large room, with a woodstove and windows all around. It has a half bath and futons for four.

What Guests Say:

The views from your cabin are outstanding and they just made us want to sit and relax and enjoy the comfortable surroundings. I ski at Bear Valley often, mostly just to be in the Sierras and take in the view, and that feeling was even better in the nice summer weather from the comfort of your dining room table with a glass of wine! John and Carol - Livermore CA

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay in your mountain home. The views were spectacular, and the house was very comfortable. We had a couple of days of great weather and one day to enjoy a rainy day by the fire. Neither of us had been to Bear Valley before, and we found lots to see and do. It must be beautiful there in the winter, and when all of the wild flowers are in bloom. We also enjoyed driving around the neighborhood and looking at the many beautiful homes.
Joyce and Dan - Campbell, CA

'My wife and I had a wonderful relaxing weekend at your cabin. Everything went fine and everything worked. Loved the view from the top of the hill behind the cabin. Reading a book and taking our morning coffee on the deck was so serene. You have a great location and a great cabin. We'll tell our friends and family about this Bear Valley jewel.' Chuck - Martinez, CA

'Everything in the cabin worked great for us, with the fire keeping us plenty warm at night. We hope to go up again next year and add a couple more days to the stay..Really enjoyed the deck and views along with all the stars at night...Thanks again and great place!!' John - Livermore, CA

'We would like to thank you for letting us use your beautiful treetop home in Bear Valley. It was more than we expected. The views were fantastic and the furnishings, etc. were just like home! Very comfortable and in good taste.' Gail - San Jose, CA

'Over the past few years, we have stayed in a number of Bear Valley homes... I must say, however, that I enjoyed the time my family spent at your home more so than the rest. What a view!' Chris and Pam - La Mesa, CA

'Thank you so much for the opportunity to rent your cabin for a couple of weeks. We had a great time, and never tired of the incredible view and comfortable accommodations. We look forward to staying at your place again in the future!' Jeri and Tom - Berkeley, CA

'Although this was our first trip to Bear, we'll definitely be coming again this winter. We've stayed in many parts of the Sierra over the years, but were really impressed with Bear Valley, especially as a multi-activity family area. I hope our plans and the availability of your cabin coincide again.' Peter - Los Altos, CA

This is a true hidden gem. It’s an outstandingly well-built and amazingly warm house placed in a movie like setting. The top floor terrace and the kitchen are amazing. The second floor has so many windows to enjoy the surroundings. It is simply breathtakingly beautiful over there. The house is very well equipped; pretty much bring the bare minimum. Both the adults and toddler loved the house and the skiing / sledding experience. Our toddler is still talking about snowmobile to everyone even though we visited early March. Next thing to do is to come in the summer to grill on the terrace and to enjoy the scenery and hiking. I fully recommend this place to families and anyone who wants a truly exceptional experience.

We had such a great time! Timing was perfect, we got up without chains, then the snow just dumped on us until Monday morning. We loved the cabin (again) and the sledding all the way around. The snowmobile worked just fine and the taxi service was very helpful getting our gear up the hill and back down. We really lucked out with the weather, and we were so glad to stay at your warm, cozy, wonderful cabin again this year! The kids and the grownups had such fun in the snow. Thanks again for making our Chirstmas memories so wonderful this year! We will be back for sure! (By the way, I was never Sad in the Snow at your cabin!)

As active seniors (early 60's) we are always looking for the next new getaway. When the area is within 3+ hours of home, even better. We were planning a trip to Mammoth and wanted to overnight somewhere pleasant enroute. Checked the map, found 3 different "passes" we could travel over to reach our destination, and began the VRBO search. Well, the one destination that offered the most options was Bear Valley; and the one home that appealed to us greatly was this property 1271. What a jewel! With non-stop windows you feel part of nature. The views are awesome from both the deck and the windows within. The pictures are accurate; yet, the home looks even better in person. The size was just right for us; plenty of space, yet the feel is cozy. We enjoyed the woodstove each evening throughout dinner and relaxing and reading thereafter. We had great weather during our stay which allowed us to enjoy the deck each morning and savor "happy hour" during sunset before moving inside. The golden yellow leaves of the aspens in the Fall were beautiful. The home appeared quite new or lovingly taken care of by previous renters and very clean. The kitchen was stocked well, and cooking was a treat with the view out the kitchen window. October seems a good time to visit while the weather is still pleasant and the neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful. It was fun just walking all the residential streets. We should add that we really enjoyed the area itself. Quite a few good hiking trails, many of them commencing from Lake Alpine. The owner, Stefani, was very friendly and helpful during the planning stage. Our dog, Sadie, (german shepherd mix) is our travelling companion, and we appreciate the owner allowing her to enjoy the home as well. We will definitely return and spend a much longer period of time on our next trip.

Really enjoyed our stay at this place. The house is beautifully located and hits the right balance between feeling "rustic" and being nicely appointed. The owner is extremely nice, and responds immediately to inquiries. We're definitely coming back!

Our family has stayed here several times over the years and we have always had a wonderful time. The views are gorgeous - the best in Bear Valley. Coffee on the deck in the morning overlooking the mountains is a real treat. It is quiet and semi-secluded at the end of a cul-de-sac with no neighbors on two sides, but convenient to the village and all the activities around Bear Valley. You can take a short hike up the mountain for even more spectacular views.

I don't know what we loved the most: the amazing view, the peace and silence, a hiking trail that just started above the cabin, the freedom to roam the beautiful surroundings... too much to tell, it must be experienced. We went on a daily (outstanding!) hike every day, never repeating ourselves, swam in pristine lakes. Our Maremma Sheepdog, Nuvola had a blast running around, hunting squirrels or simply resting on the deck looking at all that was going on below and guarding the entire valley from there. The cabin was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. The owner was very friendly and responded in a timely manner to our e-mails. We'll definitely be back!
