CHECK OUT A LOCAL WINERY; PICK APPLES AT CRANE'S ORCHARDS OR GET LOST IN THEIR CORN MAZE. RIDE YOUR BIKES THROUGH THE COLORFUL SCENERY OF THE KAL-HAVEN TRAIL. THERE ARE PLENTY OF FUN ACTIVITIES TO FILL YOUR GETAWAY.
WINTER IN SOUTH HAVEN IS SIMPLY GORGEOUS! THE ICE-BREAKER FESTIVAL IS ALWAYS FUN. RENT A PAIR OF ICESKATES AND GLIDE UNDER THE TWINKLING LIGHTS OF THE DOWNTOWN PAVILLION AND THEN GRAB SOME COCOA OR COFFEE FROM CAFE JULIA'S RIGHT NEXT DOOR. GO CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING OR SLEDDING ALL DAY AND THEN GRAB A BITE TO EAT AT ONE OF THE COZY DOWNTOWN RESTAURANTS. OR SPEND THE DAY SHOPPING DOWNTOWN FOR ONE-OF-A-KIND HOLIDAY GIFTS.
Our charming three bedroom cottage is located within the City of South Haven just south of Kids Corner Park. Our house is just three houses from Lake Michigan with private association beach access. Wooden stairs lead down the bluff to Lake Michigan - OUR BEACH IS AN EXCELLENT LOCATION FOR VIEWING THE JULY 4TH FIREWORKS - AWAY FROM THE CROWDS, NO FIGHTING FOR A PARKING SPACE, AND WHEN THE FIREWORKS ARE OVER - YOU'RE ALREADY HOME! The house sits on a double lot, is shaded by mature Maple trees and is fenced with a cute white fence. It's the perfect place to watch your children chase fireflies, play croquet or just run and play. We have a large screened back porch to enjoy those pleasant Michigan evenings mosquito-free!
It's just a short 5-10 minute walk to Kids Corner Park and the Blue Stairs leading to the wide, sandy South Beach. Or walk/bike a little farther to South Haven's harbor, downtown shops and restaurants. We are close to everything, and yet, the neighborhood is quiet and residential. It's the best of both worlds!
The house has been recently remodeled with a new kitchen and two new baths. With a livingroom, familyroom and a screened porch, there is plenty of room for a family to spread out and relax. The basement is set up as a large play area for the kids on rainy days. Beach chairs, firepit, croquet and bikes/tag-along bike are furnished for your enjoyment. This is the perfect family vacation home.

Why the Owner Chose South Haven
As transplants to South Florida, we needed a place to call home when visiting family and friends in Michigan and Chicago. South Haven was the perfect location. After renting a vacation home in town (through VRBO, no less!), we decided to purchase our lakefront cottage. Now it is five years later, and we have loved our experience in South Haven so much that we are now year round residents. Our cottage is now available for rent so that others may appreciate the small town with which we have fallen in love.

We love the quiet residential streets and the quaint, old-time friendliness of everyone in town. Some of the "Must-Do's" in town include: walks along the pier and harborfront, onion rings at Clementine's, giant granola cookies at Cafe Julia's, Sherman's ice cream, downtown shopping, the Kal-Haven bike trail, the Friends-Good-Will tall ship and Maritime Museum, children's summer art classes at the Art Center, Kid's Corner Park, and Beach, Beach, Beach.
