We took our family-4 children, their spouses, and 7 grandchildren ages10-1 to Door county for Halloween. This was a celebration of my 65th birthday and retirement from 48 years of nursing. Sweetbriar provided ample bedrooms and space for all of us to stay under one roof. At this time of the year the fireplaces in the bedrooms were comfy and the jetted tubs were used often.. The homemakers in the family fell in love with the kitchen and the male chefs did a great omelet bar.The grounds were lovely with the Fall colors and the kids had a great area for our 2 Treasure hunts.The walking paths provided some leisurely strolling for the adults. It was wonderful to have a table that accommodated all of us at one time and made for some lively conversations. The sports fans enjoyed the large TV and seating while watching the World Series and Badger games. We designated the sun porch as the childrens' activity center and they thought it was special to have their own space. Movie and WI time was spent in the Beachfront room which held a full group. There was plenty to do in the surrounding towns and everyone loved the Trolley ride. Thank you for making this a memorable birthday/retirement for me.

Big Chill Revisited

My friends and I just spent an extended Labor Day weekend at this fabulous home in Door County.I would like to say that this property exceeded all our expectations.Impecably decorated and very well maintained.Everything we needed to cook for twelve people was there.We played board games in the sun porch and watched football games and movies on the TV in the front room.We were never crowded and the bedrooms are spaced perfectly for privacy when you wanted it.Close enough to everything but far enough away to avoid the weekend throngs.Deb the owner was very helpful and a joy to work with.We will be back!!!!!

A Gem in Door County

After years of spending our vacations in Door County, we were so pleased to finally find a location big enough to fit all 20 of us. The house and grounds are amazing. The fire pit is the perfect spot to spend a Door County evening. The location was surprisingly perfect. Susan and Deb were both great to work with. We are already looking forward to returning next summer! I echo all of the previous reviews--Sweetbriar is a great vacation destination.

I'm not sure how I accidentally marked 4, not 5 stars, in my previous review. Sweetbriar is a fabulous retreat for getting away to relax and explore Door County! I haven't been back to the house since our wedding because we haven't had such large groups to fill the house, but I certainly would love to visit again!

We got married at Sweetbriar in the fall of 2008. The house, property, and amazing kitchen were all perfect for a large group of people from many different families to come together and celebrate our wedding. The individual rooms allowed everyone to have their own privacy and time away. The location is perfect for getting to and from Sister Bay and other towns in the county. We haven't been back yet, but hope someday to have a big group event and book it again. The house and land are just beautiful, and every time we're in the area, we drive by to reminisce. I'd highly recommend Sweetbriar for any event where you want a beautiful setting to enjoy time with friends and family!

Sweetbriar-a great value

My husband and I booked Sweetbriar last year for a college friend reunion-think Big Chill. We had such a great time that we have planned the same event for 2011 and have booked our stay at Sweetbriar again. Sweetbriar was everything that we could have asked for and more. The suites offed couples luxury privacy and the spacious dining room offered the opportunity for all of us to dine together. We cooked together, ate together, laughed a lot, sat out at the fire pit and on the deck-it was fantastic. We couldn't think of anywhere else we could go and have the same great experience. The home was clean, and the attention to detail amazing. The decor had great textures and yummy colors and the 16 acres gave us a chance to take a walk in the meadow without having to leave the property. We wish Deb/our hostess and owner a great 2011 season. Sweetbriar was peaceful and serene-the perfect getaway-as stated a great value-we're really looking forward to our stay this fall. Based on our experience some of our other friends have decided to book a stay at the property as well-isn't that the best compliment and review? Give Sweetbriar a try...you won't be disappointed.

My Husband and I researched the many options available in Door County to tie the knot. Given that we were blending our families (including our children), we wanted to provide an evironment in which we could not only celebrate our marriage together but also spend some good quality time with our immediate family/friends and children. Sweetbriar was more than we could have ever imagined! The owner was so helpful in providing local resources we needed to accomodate our needs and providing guidance whenever we asked. We used Flora right across the street for our flowers which were amazing, and Top Shelf Caterting in Sister Bay for our guests dining experience. We were so pleased with the professional approach they all took, while still making us feel like we were part of their family. The atmosphere at Sweetbriar made us feel like we were right at home with all the amenities available. The home was immaculate and well equiped with everything we could imagine. The time spent together at Sweetbriar with our friends and family is one that we will never forget or regret. I would highly recommend this property to anyone who is looking the add that special something that everyone who attends will be talking about for years to come!!! You won't be disappointed.....even if it rains :)

Family Reunion at the Sweetbriar

We held a family reunion at the Sweetbriar in August 2010. We had scouted Door Peninsula the year before for a location and fell in love with the Sweetbriar as soon as we saw it. It was head and shoulders above the rest. In a country setting, both the house and grounds are spacious, great for privacy and safe for young children because there’s no traffic in the area. The 19 of us, including six grandchildren, four of them age five or under, fit perfectly into the eight spacious bedrooms, each with private bath. Each room of the house is color coordinated, the work of an interior decorator. The kitchen has restaurant-quality, state-of-the-art appliances, lots of cabinets and counter space. We cooked community meals every night, and the kitchen was definitely a gathering place. The dining room accommodated our entire crowd. The grounds and gardens are well cared for. We spent lots of time playing croquet and bocce ball, and the grandchildren splashed around in a plastic pool that we brought along. Only a short drive away are Peninsula State Park with scenic bike paths, Whitefish Dunes state park with a great beach, Sister Bay ball fields, Sister Bay village itself, sand volleyball courts (on county Highway A), and lots of good local markets for food and crafts. We took advantage of all of them. Deb, the owner, is very accommodating and responsive. We stayed at the Sweetbriar during a hot and sticky week. When the air conditioner failed, she had a repairman out the next morning, and it was promptly fixed. Make your reservations early. The Sweetbriar calendar fills quickly.

This is a gorgeous home. Very welcoming. Very peaceful. Very stylish. This country house is filled with gorgeous bedrooms, beautiful sitting areas and a huge kitchen which proved to be a great place for the family to gather. It is very central to all the amenities of Door County. It is nicely tucked away in a peaceful country setting, which added to the overall calming influence this home has. The owner, Debra, was a delight to work with. I would absolutely recommend this country home to my friends, family and colleagues. I will return next season. Thanks for making my experience in Door County more than I expected.

Sweetbriar Country Home

I was extremely impressed with Sweetbriar. The location is very central to all the amenities and beauty of Door County. As for the actual home, I was in awe of the beauty, decor, and cozy feel. The beds and bedrooms are lovely! The home was very clean, very large and very refreshing. The kitchen is superb and has all the modern amenities; the lounging areas are serene; definitely a great place to kick up your feet and relax. I think I should also mention that this home is decorated in a beautifully stylish manner. If only this were my home! Working with the owner, Deb, was a very pleasant experience. She was friendly, professional and a very genuine woman. She clearly wants her guests to enjoy their stay. I would definitely recommend this to my friends, family and colleagues. I will be back next year :o)
