A handful of my college teammates and I staged a 10-year reunion that coincided with the local triathlon we wanted to compete in, the Rumpus in Bumpass. Between us and our wives, we had about 22 people, so we rented Ca D'Zan, as well as the neighboring property which is also owned by the Britton's, Ana Stesia. We had a FANTASTIC time. Both properties were clean, spacious, comfortable, and pretty much perfect for a large social get-together such as this. I could not imagine finding a comparable place that is this affordable. By the end of the weekend, there was talk of making this an annual retreat, and if so, we're most definitely staying here again. I'd recommend Ca D'Zan to any group of *respectful* adults, and certainly families. We didn't get to spend much time in the game room (which included pool and foosball tables) or the dock with the slide, but could only imagine how much children and teenagers would love it. The owners were helpful, communicative, and quick to respond to any question we had. THANK YOU BRITTON'S - we hope to return soon!

First of all if you value your money please don't bother staying here! From the moment we entered the house it was filthy and smelled funny, I should have called and let him know from that point but I decided to work with the situation. The refrigerator had food inside as well as the fridge, I thought nothing of it because he mentioned that sometimes people leave things behind and that it was normal. There was a dish rag on the counter that smelled like roaches had had a party on top of it near the sink. He claimed to have a fully equipped gourmet kitchen, it was a very poor excuse for a kitchen it had maybe one good knife but no serving utensils. The bunk beds in the kids room was falling apart and almost in shambles our kids slept safer on the floor so that the bed wouldn't fall on them. When the owner says 5 baths I sure hope that he is more specific in doing so it has 3 complete baths and 2 1/2 baths again we did not know this at the time of booking. It was difficult to share 3 bathrooms for 15 people. Twice during our stay the alarm when off in the house I mean blazing loud alarm that lasted 10 minutes. The first time it was a 2 in the morning on the 2 day we were there and the second at 6 in the morning on the 5th day we were there. I received a phone call from John the owner two days after the alarm went off to ask me if the people from the septic tank advised me that it was full and to try and not use any unnecessary water. The people from the septic company told me this: IF ITS YELLOW LET IT MELLOW AND IF ITS BROWN FLUSH IT DOWN! I should have ran then!!! I had to planned a trip to Washington so that the use of water could be at a complete minimum, I had to tell my family that they should wash only the necessary parts of their bodies so that crap didn't come up threw the toilets or bath tubs. The game room was shabby, the pool table supplies were very poor there were 5 sticks and if 1 had a point we were lucky. There was a canoe with no oars, the cushions for the deck chairs were thrown on the floor of the living room, the chairs in the supposed dinning area were wobbly and only fit 8 people. I had to pay a cleaning fee and deposit which I had no problem doing because this isn't the first time I have rented a vacation home. My only problem was when I received a letter 2 weeks after I rented with a list of lies and half of my deposit. I called him and he didn't answer till I called from a different #. Even then he refused to give me my money!!
Owner response:Dear Cathy, it seems obvious that your comments were driven by the fact that we kept part of your security deposit. The damage your group caused, missing items and horrible condition you left our house in would typically justify keeping all of your deposit, but I took into consideration the inconvienence as a result of a 1 day septic problem. In the 5 years we have been renting, we have never experienced a similar experience as the one your group provided. The vulgar language you used on the phone and subsequent distasteful comments here should make it clear to both our annual and new guests that you are not welcome back to Lake Anna. We invite all others to view the history of our guests expereince as we take great pride in providing a clean and comfortable house for your vacation.

We came down from Michigan to visit with extended family. Rather than try and crowd into a hotel or someone's house, we looked for a rental and ended up here on Lake Anna. It was phenomenal! The house had plenty of room for cousins with young kids, offering a place for everyone. Kids were able to play games in the family room while adults enjoyed the large kitchen, the pool table, and of course the outside decks. The setting is fantastic - the view of the lake and the sunsets were great, with plenty of nature & wildlife to enjoy as well. We're looking at making this an annual event, and would definitely recommend it highly.

This place ROCKS!! Beautiful view, nice house, and good fun for the whole family. We took our boat, and having a boat house was great. I never felt like I had to worry about our stuff. I got in lots of fishing, the kids got to do a lot of skiing, and they loved the docks and slide to play on. The lake is huge, and the water was nice and clean. A very nice deck and patio to kick back, relax and enjoy the view. The house was nice and clean when we arrived and plenty of space for our group of 12. Plenty of parking and having the internet was a plus. My family is already working me to rent it again. I would recommend it to anyone that wants a nice break from the fast pace of life.

I had a chance to stay at this beautiful home with my family and friends this past year. The house and ammenities were just perfect for a large group with an even better view of the lake. The property has a boat house on the lake that the kids seem to spend most of their vacation time. I would stay here again and would highly recommend this property!!

We spent the weekend with a group of good friends in both houses and had a wonderful time. My kids still talk about our vacation the lake today and cannot wait to go back. Great memories for all.

The property has a beautiful view of the lake and direct access to the boat house. The boat house dock provides swimming access to the lake. The home has nice size rooms and privacy for guests desiring to veg out. The kitchen has proper equipment and placeware. The property is relatively easy to find. Recommend arriving during daylight hours in order to locate driveway entrance.

My family stayed at both houses and we all had a fantastic time. We had multiple groups and the houses had lots of space as well as tons of fun for all ages. The floating dock was a huge hit and lots of outdoor floating toys, the slide and the canoe were available as well. Both houses were awesome places and it was very convenient that the houses were side by side. We were able to easily get to DC for a day trip and enjoy the other sites in Virginia as well, besides enjoying all the lake had to offer including the nearby wineries. The owner was extremely helpful too. Thanks again

Had a wonderful family vacation here. The house was very spacious and left us wanting for nothing. The kitchen was well stocked and clean. The kids had a fabulous time here. We spent every day down by the lake soaking up the sun on the dock. There's a slide mounted on the deck for the kids and next to the dock is a floating platform where the kids played "king of the hill" all day. You really can't go wrong here. This a very nice place to stay, you'll love it, we did !

This was a lovely location and home. Perfect for a large family getaway. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and particularly liked the decks, grill, and dock. However, a few suggestions for improvements: 1. The kitchen is not gourmet. It may be gourmet in decor, but not in what is stocked. We found we were far short on some basic cooking utensils, pots, pans, etc, and some were not in very good condition. If you want to be considered gourmet, then please upgrade the complements in the kitchen. 2. This is not a change you can make but I would recommend letting potential renters know that this house requires 66 long steps down to the dock/lake. This prevented our elderly and members of our party with arthritis problems from enjoying the lake at lakeside. This is quite a hike for even the quite healthy.
Owner response:Thanks for allowing us to host your family reunion. We don't typically accomodate such large parties but have purchased additional kitchen ware. We appreciate your comments and look forward to seeing you again. The Brittons

We really enjoyed both of your houses. Both houses had plenty of space for large gatherings. We enjoyed the water, the slide and the dock. The boys fished for hours. In the evenings we roasted marshmallows in the fire pit and just relaxed.

I took 12 of our kids in the youth group for an overnight retreat. It was an AWESOME stay, beautiful scenery, and easy lake access for the kids. We look forward to next year as we retreat again, as well as scheduling something for our adult leaders for a training session during a long weekend! Thanks for your help and willingness to work with us last minute. Beautiful house and property and look forward to future stays!

We just returned today from our week at this beautiful home. The house is perfect for a large family. We had 5 children with us and they loved the movies and games. Of course, that was after a day in the water. I would recommend this house to anyone

This is the second summer that our family has stayed here. There is plenty of room for my husband, myself, three daughters and their husbands, and two single kids who sometimes add a friend or two. We have space to spread out or hang together. The deck has sunrise in the morning and shade in the afternoon. The kitchen is large enough for the cooks in the family to put together some fantastic feasts. We have such a great time here, we are making it a two week vacation next year.

I just wanted to tell you what a wonderful time we had at your vacation home. We toured Mount Vernon, Monticello, Monroe and Madison's homes, Washington, D.C. for a day, the battlefields and lots more. We laughed a lot, ate a lot and sat on the deck looking at the beautiful lake a lot. Thank you for a great time
