“Hale Ohana” Family House

Welcome to paradise at this contemporary Puako oceanfront home, situated to feature the stunning Pacific view and designed to invite the refreshing tropical breeze. Your friends and family can enjoy any of the three seaside bedrooms, each featuring sliding glass doors opening onto the full-length lanai (patio). While you savor the sunset, watch the kids splashing in the pool. Prepare a meal of fresh local fish and island grown produce in the fully equipped kitchen or on the gas barbeque grill. Or have one of our talented local chefs come to you! For three years, guests have been delighting in this bit of paradise… where the relaxing rhythm of island life meets the modern conveniences that you have come to expect.

This 2200 square foot home was built just six years ago. It was designed in old Hawaii plantation style with a roomy 1100 square feet of lanai, screens and sliders that open full length plus louvered windows to encourage the tropical trade winds to maintain the home at a comfortable temperature without the use of air conditioning. A seawall on the ocean side of the home protects the landscape from salt-water damage so the lush tropical flora flourishes. The dipping pool outside the north bedroom wing is the perfect spot to refresh after a day of golf or tennis at one of the nearby resorts. Between two tall coconut palms, sway in the cozy hammock while listening to the melody of the rolling waves. The covered lanai features built-in cushioned seating for two, teak lounge chairs and dining table, plus a serving area with sink. Additional features of the home are wireless high speed Internet connection and a two-car garage.

Stepping through the front door, the great-room’s ocean view will stop you in your tracks as you “ooh and ahh” over the colorful Pacific view. This room is a kitchen/living room combination designed so you can enjoy your guests or family while preparing a meal or a tall cool beverage. The modern kitchen has ample counter and cupboard space as well as top-of-the-line large and small appliances. Thoughtfully provided serving dishes and utensils are at your fingertips. Adjacent to the kitchen is the seating area featuring a plush down sofa and love seat, built in bookcases, flat screen TV, stereo with surround sound and a DVD Player. Wireless high speed Internet service is available throughout the home.

Bedrooms:
The spacious master bedroom with private bath is located on the south side of the home. Some of the convenient features are: built in closets, drawers and shelves, a bamboo desk, Hawaiian quilt on the king size bed, delightful local art, sliding glass door to the lanai, telephone and television. The adjoining master bath has double sinks, tiled walk-in shower, and a separate door leading outside.

The additional two bedrooms are located at the north end of the home. Accessible from a long hallway, both bedrooms are oceanfront with sliding glass doors opening onto the patio and pool area. Bedroom One features a queen-bed and a twin-sized bed, a comfy chair for reading or relaxing, telephone, and a stereo/DVD player. Bedroom Two has a queen-bed, desk, television, telephone and a teak lounge chair just outside on the porch.
These bedrooms share one and half additional baths conveniently located just down the hall.

We use only natural pest control on property for your health and the safety of our planet. We also use and encourage the use of environmentally sensitive paper goods and supplies.

  • My family and friends enjoyed a magical vacation at Hale Ohana. We are well traveled and very picky about our accommodations, and this property is one of the best we have experienced. Every detail is lovely and high quality, from the linens, to the cookware and appliances, and the furnishings. The sunsets on the lanai were wonderful, and we dined there every night. The pool is small, but perfect for dipping and cooling off. The house is very private and has a comfortable elegance to it. Mary Fox was very accommodating and greeted us and made herself available for any request. We plan on returning as often as possible!   • We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Hale Ohana in early January. Whether it was walking along the tidal pools, watching sea turtles feeding below the sea wall, snorkeling or just plain lazing around on the lanai it was all very relaxing. The accommodations were ideal, with plenty of room for all (5) of us and there are many nearby restaurants and stores if we needed to get anything. Dining on the lanai in the evening is unforgettable and was something we did often during our stay.

  • After looking at hundreds of homes, I selected this home. If you want perfectly quiet, totally private, regal accomodations with gourmet kitchen, then this is your place. Just over the ocean front retaining wall is a nature preserve where we observed turtles and other wild life. Don't miss the Kona Farmers Market (Wed-Sun) for papayas 5 for $1.

  • Our party stayed the week of Labor Day 2008. We had a wonderful stay, the house was perfect, and the location was very close to everything we needed (beach, golf, resort shopping/restaurants). We even saw several Sea Turtles from the sea wall in the back yard. Mary Fox was a pleasure to deal with. Mahalo!

  • Wow, what a great week. The house was very peaceful, each room (with it's own patio access) was a private oasis, the lanai is perfect and the pool is just the right size. We very much enjoyed our stay and will come again. With two families, we worried about the space, but it worked very well. Also, of note, the folks from the General Store (short walk/drive up the street) were amazing hosts as well. A great, "get-away-from-it-all" experience. The neighborhood is Not commercial and it felt like home for all of us.

  • We spent a wonderful week at beautiful Hale Ohana this past May as we celebrated our 24th Wedding Anniversary. We've taken many great trips, but none better than this. We rarely ventured away from "home" the entire week, except to "Lau's" fresh seafood market to pick up the daily catch for dinner. Hale Ohana really is Paradise found... exquisitely maintained grounds,magnificent snorkeling (practically in your own backyard) and the most Spectacular Sunsets you'll ever see from the Lanai. THANK YOU Mary for all your help prior to our arrival and during our stay. We look forward to returning....

  • This vacation home exceeded all of our expectations. Beautifully designed, impeccably maintained and utterly livable, down to the quality appliances, linens, kitchenware and furnishings. Our family (ages 4 to 63)agreed that it was the perfect place to vacation in Hawaii. Proximity to exquisite beaches, immediate access to outstanding snorkeling, and the small, tropical village feel of Puako all blended to create a wonderful experience. The owner's excellent taste, and 2 Payapas attentive management style combine to assure a high quality vacation home.
