Hunter Mountain House, is located on 12 quiet and peaceful acres just one mile from two established trailheads and very close to Cuyamaca State Park, and historic Julian, CA.
Location HMH is located a short 40 minute drive from San Diego and the Border of Baja, Mexico. It is 2 miles north of interstate 8 and midway between San Diego and the Anza Borrego desert.
Accommodations: The house was built in 1948 and completely restored in 2006. It features 2 bedrooms and two bathrooms and a den with wood burning stove. Beautiful vaulted ceilings with hand worked, wood doweled beams are throughout the house. The large living room features a stone wood burning fireplace, with commanding views of the valley and mountain perimeters. The gentleman’s' kitchen is well equipped with stove, microwave, refrigerator and dishwasher. Cooking utensils, plate’s glassware, and flatware is furnished as well as linens. High definition satellite TV and DVD is also provided.
Pet Friendly Come and enjoy the beautiful panoramic vistas and explore the ancient local Indian camps. Bring your dogs and horses. There is a fenced yard for the dogs and a paddock for the horses.
Your Host Diane Hunter, lives nearby in one of the historic stone homes that was one of the original stage coach stops from the gold mines of Julian to San Diego. She is a longtime "muleskinner" and can assist you with information on the local trails, eateries and points of interest which are abundant. She is also bilingual Spanish.
