As an American, living in Paris, Antibes was immediately my choice as a second home. It is one of the most beautiful cities in the heart of the fantastic French Riviera and rich in diverse activities. Antibes is alive all year long, unlike most of the other picturesque villages. Antibes has it all: restaurants, museums, sand beaches (not stone like others), cinema, theatre, markets of all sorts, sports, amusement parks, etc most within short walking distance. Life in Antibes is just like you imagined it would be on the French Riviera. I prefer many of the “out of season” months to the tourist months of July and August. In those months you can discover the "real" Antibes. But all year long, Antibes is surely the best vacation spot on the coast.
You don’t need a car with the bus and train terminals a short 10 minute walk away; you can easily go anywhere on the coast (Cannes, Isles de Lerins, Nice, St Tropez, Monaco, Ventimiglia, San Remo, Eze, Beaulieu, Villefranche, Vence, St Paul, etc)or to the back country by train or bus. There are also two high speed trains daily to/from Paris. But if you have a car during your vacation, your reserved and guarded indoor parking is included in the rental.
Thanks to its enormous deep water pleasure port (largest in Europe) (huge yachts with Anglo-Saxon crews) and the broad non-French ownership of houses and apartments, almost everybody speaks English. This makes living easy for even the worst French speakers.
The beauty of this ancient, walled Greek city (Antipolis, 400 BC) is unsurpassed on the Riviera and even the shortest walk is breath taking.
My apartment is in a building which was built in 1575, but it has just been totally renovated to offer every modern convenience. Everything is new and I have made sure that all guest needs are satisfied. Linens and cleaning, telephone, internet, parking and taxes are included in the rental price. Discounts are available for longer stays and repeat guests.
Unique in the Antibes Old Town is my apartment's balcony which overlooks the main square with a romantic fountain and Antibes' local theatre. The apartment has windows on three sides. Two of the three sides are on walking streets and the third also becomes a walking street on week-ends and during the summer. The location is without a doubt the best in Antibes. The apartment is fully air conditioned with double windows for temperature and noise control.
PS. Check us out on Google Earth!! Go to "Antibes Old Center" and you'll see my apartment in the photo. You'll also appreciate the surroundings, the proximity of the beaches and just a few of the great restaurants in the old town. |
