We just spent 9 days at this property and couldn't be happier. The house is very well furnished and stocked with towels, bed linens and a full kitchen. While we were there it rained a few days and the game room was awesome! The master bedroom is incredible. I woke up every morning to an incredible view of the ocean. The roof top deck is where we spent a lot of our time. The view of the ocean from the hot tub was really nice and relaxing. The house was very clean and we literally had/have no complaints. The neighborhood is great - we had quite a few breakfast burritos at the little shack down the way. There are also quite a few liquor stores in the area - not great wine - but not terrible. We enjoyed shopping at the Olive Tree Market and whipped up quite a few gourmet dinners! One of our favorite things to do was to take our dogs down to the beach every morning. It was only three blocks away and the dogs could be off leash. My dogs were in heaven! There aren't a lot of great places to eat in OB if you're a foodie...but for lunch and drinks it was really fun. Whatever you do do not eat at Espresso Pizza! Ignore the Yelp reviews TRUST ME. We had such a great time that I'm confident we will be booking this house again. Thanks so much Shawn - one of our favorite vacations so far!

Great for convention center attendance as a group

Our group of 7 (mixed gender and ages) found this to be an excellent place to use as a home base to attend a professional meeting in downtown San Diego. Used both the main residence and the guest house. We also spent a day exploring the area. The property is reasonably close to points of interest. Convention Center, Cabrillo tide pools, Mission Bay, etc. all within short driving distance. The property was clean when we arrived...in reasonably good repair. The view from the upper deck hot tub is fantastic! Even saw a whale from a distance...bring your own binoculars for better views. The game room and media stations were great for the youthful among us. Kitchen facilities and dishware/cookware were in good shape. We cut our overall convention attendance budget by purchasing groceries and cooking at the residence in the morning and on a few evenings during our stay. We packed lunches too. Ran out of propane for grill, however, and had to replace. Linens were clean and plentiful. Owner was responsive to our needs and made using the property a breeze! Great overall experience!

The master bedroom and top level deck makes this place! Good location, within walking distance of Sunset Cliff and Ocean Beach. Interior needs some TLC. Owner was responsive to our needs.

Our stay at this residence was great, we had 4 adults and 2 grandchildren aged 2 and 4. The residence was clean and stocked with everything that we needed. All we had to purchase was our food. It was really close to sea world, old town, the zoo and shopping. We rented a minivan and found sandiego very easy to navigate around. We would really consider staying here again if we plan another holiday to sandiego.

Wonderful Christmas Experience With The Family 2011

We booked this home because it had a commercial grade kitchen and a "Man Cave". We stayed at this property during Christmas Week 2011. We arrived on Monday to be pleasantly surprised that the property looked just like the photo's on the website. During the week we experienced a great kitchen to entertain and cook our holiday meals. Our kids, ages 22-30 never wanted to leave the "Man Cave". The outdoor livingroom and rooftop jacuzzi gave the parents a get away location. We opted not to book the apartment, but we were able to meet the very nice couple that were staying in it during our time. This place is a great location for a family gathering. Shawn the owner made sure that all of our needs were met. We will book this property again. Thanks Shawn for your Amazing House!

Great Stay! December 7 - 11, 2011.

Staying at this property instead of several hotel rooms was the perfect choice for our large family's visit to SD for our son's Marine graduation. Great memories with no stress - how often can you say that when 10 adult family members live together for four days :-) The location was was fabulous. Within minutes of the MCRD and airport meant more time enjoying and less time traveling. Being just a few blocks away from Sunset Cliffs equaled beautiful sunsets from the deck, enjoying the glistening ocean blue filling the top floor windows each morning from bed, and fun walks to the cliffs and stores. Quick drive or long walk gets you to fun Ocean Beach or the nature preserve to explore. The house's living areas and extras allowed for all to relax and really connect. I thought our young couples would be hitting the town each night, but instead chose to stay in and enjoy the jacuzzi, pool table, and pinball/video games. I know in summer it would be great to cook-out under the lanai. The small yard's lush landscaping and wall made the space private and intimate. I loved the top floor bedroom suite and deck - it was our own personal retreat. I stole the coffee pot each night so we could enjoy privately coffee in bed or on the deck without going downstairs. At night no matter how long the younger couples stayed up - we had peace and quiet. Our son, who just conquered 13 weeks of Marine boot camp, said it was great to be saying somewhere homey for his first few nights of freedom. Sean was professional to work with. He answered all our questions ahead of time and used VRBO rental contract and insurance. These gave us much confidence in this rental, much different than our first rental property inquiry for the trip. I would love to find a big group to travel to SD again to justify staying at the property and seeing more of SD, because we enjoyed the property so much. If you stay here you will not be disappointed.

We have just returned from a short San Diego visit, and we could not have been happier with our decision to stay at this house. We are a family of four, with two young children. We were in town to visit relatives, and chose the property based on location. During most of our stay, the family came to visit us at this house, as the kids all loved the game room. We had a gathering of friends on a Saturday, cooked outside on the bbq, and used the indoor cooking range and stove....everything was great! Our local friends were all asking about the property, as they thought it would be perfect for their own visiting families. The view from the deck is unbelievable, and waking up in the master bedroom, to a full view of a bright blue ocean is pleasure not to be missed. We found the photos and reviews of this property to be accurate. It was very clean, and the owner was very helpful with the few questions that we had. We did not rent the separate unit, but it looked very nice as well. We would recommend this property, and already have. Sea World is a few minutes away by car, and you can easily walk to the beach and into Ocean Beach (Newport Ave). We have had many good experiences with VRBO, and this one was great.

Great Time Was Had By All!

I have never rented a house before so I was not sure what to expect. We were so pleased with the property and our stay. I want future renters to know that you will not be disappointed. Our daughter got married the first week in November so we rented this house for family to come in from all areas of the U.S. There was plenty of sleeping room including futons in game room and guest apt. I can't begin to tell you what a great time we had. Many meals were enjoyed together by putting out buffets on the great granite counter in the kitchen. All the appliances that I needed to prepare meals were there. There were 3 outside areas to gather or to get away for some solitude. The view from the roof was to die for and a pleasant surprise. There were even some board games to play in the evening. Our family will hold dear our many great memories of our week together in this wonderful house.

This house pretty much had everything we needed and then some... the kitchen had every gadget and untensil you could find! Even a warming drawer! (that we didn't use! ha) I looked forward to making dinner most nights and breakfast in the morning, it's a very functional and open floor plan on the first floor. The kids loved the game room and the fact there was another TV in there gave us two living areas, that was verrrry nice. I had my sister in law in the guest house and she absolutely loved it. The owner had mentioned that he had just redocorated in there and it looked great. It's small but very well appointed and the kitchen in there is fabulous as well (although she said the sink was leeking a little). We loved walking along the cliffs in the morning and grabbing some coffee at the Point Loma Cafe at the end of the street. I would highly recommend this property to anyone in a large group looking to enjoy the San Diego. It's a hop, skip and jump from everything. Would definetely rent again if we come back to the area, the views from the deck on the top floor are absolutely to die for.

We had an Amazing time in San Diego and this property had alot to do with it !! We rented the house in late April expecting great weather and we got amazing weather. We had a group of 7 friends and the house was big enough that everybody had there own space to kick back and relax . It has a great location as well, just a min to the sunset cliffs and to the beach. A 5 min walk to the local cafe and deli-liquor store ! We drove to Mission beach and Pacific beach only took us about 10 min (amazing) We loved the roof top hot tub after a full day of surfing and shopping . Definitely would recommend this property to who ever wants to have a great time in San Diego. Sean the property owner was very accommodating and was quick to address any question we had about the house prior to arrival.

We stayed here for a week and had a great experience. The Good: The master bedroom and views from the deck were amazing. Would definetely recommend to anyone and hope to come back again. the Bad: A couple lights were out and the internet wasn't working the first day but the owner came over and fixed it right away.

After looking thru a million listings we finally decided on this place mainly because it was one of the few listings with air conditioning... (my youngest has terrible allergies)... and we couldn't have been happier with our selection. The weather was kinda bad all week so we did spend more time in the house than we had planned. The gameroom was a savior with the kids and the owner was kind enough to allow us to bring our dog. I thought the kitchen was fabulous and we all just loved spending time on the upstairs roofdeck overlooking the ocean. The beds and linens were all very nice, and I think the house has a great modern design touch. It could probably use a few more beach towels. All an all it was really a great place to kick back and relax with the family. We would definetely rent again next year.

Perfect vacation/family reunion home

Thank you for providing an excellent location for our family reunion/Christmas celebration. The home was everything the ad shows and says it is " perfect & beatiful. It provided area's that were private for each family to go to, while also providing perfect gathering location inside and outside of the home, with the 3 decks and the huge great area with game room it provided all we could of wanted. All of the children were happy the home provided the privacy and comfort needed for a large gathering . The location was great for easy access to local attraction and a wonderful neighborhood. Sea worlld, San Diego Zoo and the Air port just minutes from the home. Tthe older children loved the walking distance to the beach and local shops. We would like to thank you for the great vacation and holiday we had. The home is all that you have discribed and we highly recommend it to all for their gatherings. Customer service was great with a easy check in and out no hassles. Again thank you for a great gift to all of our family memebers, you made our family reunion / Christmas and comfortable and memorable one.

Main house is great, but neighbor is a "character"

The owner of the house is reasonable and easy to work with. The house is in a great location and is very nicely decorated. As the profile says, the "private" beach is a short walk away and very intimate. Like a little cove. There are only 2 real bedrooms (upstairs master) and the second bdrm on 2nd floor. Master bdrm could use curtains! Downstairs there's a room with a double that has a curtain and a bathroom. No door. Then, there's a futon bed in the game room. The sound system is great as well as the game room. We couldn't seem to get the cable to work. It seems like there was no subscription when we stayed there. The neighborhood is friendly, except for the neighbor that is behind the house. Be warned that you will likely receive a noise complaint from him. The spa deck is gorgeous and u will see beautiful sunsets. U just can't use the jacuzzi at night if you have more than 4 people for fear of the neighbor complaining. He'll even walk into your house and invade your privacy. He came into the house on Sunday morning to complain of noise during the day. Meanwhile, he was doing construction, starting at 7 AM during the week. The suite is nice enough. It's not as nice as the main house. There is no AC in the suite. The bed and bedding is not as new. Also, the bathroom is not as nice. The plumbing in the suite seemed to have a problem. At one point, there was a leak in the bathroom and ended up on someone's head in the game room located downstairs. The patio area in front of the suite is nice! You can enjoy the view and at night you can hear seals if you listen carefully. The cooking equipment is nice. The cleaning crew came early before check out time so we didn't have time to clean up before leaving. However, all in all, the house is lovely for the price! Just be wary of the neighbor. I just wish I had a warning as to how sensitive he was to sound.

Me and three of my old school mates rented this house for a reunion. Although we didn't need all this room for 4 people - it gave us privacy - but also supplied a great room downstairs and rooftop where we good all "hang." This house has beautiful views. It was very nicely furnished, modern, yet comfortable. VERY SELF CONTAINED - every kitchen gajet you could want. Great area for views and great walks along Sunset Cliffs. The beds were very comfortable - everything very roomy. We had a great time. Not for someone who can't do stairs tho! Of course we loved the exercise!!! The uptop deck and jacuzzi is to DIE FOR! We spent most nights at Sunset up on the deck with snacks and drinks and the sunset. Late night hop in the jacuzzi! We really felt like we were in a resort. Also, the neighborhood was very quiet - and a wonderful area to walk around.

We ended up staying here last minute after our previous reservation fell thru on us. We scrambled and luckily fournd this place. The owner was very accomodating and easy to deal with dispite the fact we were stressed out. We really had a great time and it was so easy to get around to all the sights from this location. Thanks again for the wonderful bottle of wine that was there to greet us when we arrived.. it really calmed our nerves!! That was really such a nice gesture. We will defintely be in touch should we make it back out that way again.

We rented the entire home for our party of 8. Everything was exactly as advertised. Game room great for our teens and the upper desk/hot tub loved by all. Loved the kitchen, had all the items we needed for cooking and entertaining. Plenty of grocery stores near by and the local donut shop was a hit. Extra plus that we could drive 10-15 minutes to all the major attractions and airport. Owner provided great customer service. Lovely location and the sunsets were awesome.

The Perfect Venue

Your home was the perfect venue for our celebration and offered comfortable guest accommodations for all...the kitchen was well-stocked and awesome...since I love to cook, and did all the cooking for the week, I was pleased that I found pretty much what I needed! Logistically, it was the best....no one had to travel more than 10 minutes and ferrying people to and from the airport was a breeze! Sorry we had to call you so much initially....but we were happy to iron out the glitches, especially heating/hot water issues with the guest house, and the girls were ultimately very comfortable there......Thank-you for your patience! We certainly will let our traveling friends know about your place...and with our son stationed in Coronado, who knows....we may just come again!

Wow! Great Time!

We stayed here last week to celebrate my boyfriends 30th birthday. The house was clean and set up perfectly for our small group. There were plenty of wine glasses, plates, glasses, etc ... My favorite thing was the master bedroom -you could see the ocean as you laid in bed!! One night we caught an incredible view of the Moon shining down on the ocean (very romantic). Only negative we could find was the downstairs bedroom was very small (but super cute and nicely decorated). We used the hottub but we wished the weather was nicer so we could have spent time on the view deck. My boyfriend didn't want to leave. It was a great place, excatly what we had hoped for.

Horrible experience,filthy home,inattentive owner

We booked this home advertised as " luxury gated estate." We arrived for a week over last Thanksgiving. The home was filthy upon arrival. Dirty dishes, opened food in the refrigerators. Duct tape on the "new" furniture. Hair in the changed sheets and towels (beds were made as if clean). Holes in the walls, rusty bath soap dishes, moldy shower on and on. Smoke detectors were open with no batteries. The owner refused to come meet with us and immediately told us there would be no return of our money. We had a family of 7 and food for the holiday, where could we go. We washed all the sheets and towels ourselves. And eventually 5 or 6 hours later three cleaning people came. They were only allowed to work 2 hours as instructed by the owner. It was better but the disrepair could not be changed by cleaning. The facilities at the home were fantastic but not maintained and dirty. The grills were filthy, the pots and pans though put away were dripping with grease as were the fronts of cabinets. WIne glasses were cracked. Washers and dryers great to have but lint screens were packed full of lint. Obviously there was no oversight of this property with huge potential. The gated estate was a wood fence hanging from one hinge when we arrived. Three huge trash cans were packed full in the driveway. We also rented the lock off apartment above the garage. It was equally awful and the bathroom was horrific. Food on the floor, under the sofa. The bicycles available for our usage had no spokes in the wheels. This experience was a nightmare. It is hard to understand how there are several reviews that are so positive but do read them all before considering this property. Others do back up our experience both with this property and its owner.

This house is in a very unique part of San Diego and definetely a great spot if you don't wanna feel like "just another tourist". I loved going for long walks down Sunset Cliffs Blvd. We couldn't stand staying in Mission Beach when we were in San Diego last year. Too loud and too many people for our taste. We had one issue with the hot water in the guest house that was fixed right away by the owner. He was extremely attentive and very nice to deal with in general. The main house could use a few more drinking glasses and new pans, but the kitchen was great and the appliances are all top of the line. I wish I had them in our home. In general you can tell there was obviously alot of care, money and time put into this rental. The house was clean and comfortable and the arcade games were great for our kids, kept them busy the whole time =)

No air conditioning--filthy spa

I rented the house over Labor Day weekend and paid over one month in advance. After arriving, the house was hot and stuffy. To my surpise the Air Conditioning was broken. My son, his wife and baby slept in the middle room wihc was very stuffy. I called and complained to the landlord who basically said to just open windows. Well, it was still stuffy. He said the A/C just went out that week, yet every room had a fan with dust built up on them. I found it hard to believe the A/C had just broke a week prior to my arrival. On the first day I arrived, I then went to use the heated spa and found it to be filty with greasy foam on the top of the water along with floating pubic haris. Based on the landlords lack of care to my concerns, I do not recommend anyone staying at this home. We even found several light bulbs burned out and had to go to the store and buy our own bulbs as there were none in the house. I did get my security deposit back but the landlord refused to offer any reimbursement for the stuffy conditions. I do NOT recommend this rental--find something else.

We love San Diego but had never visited this particular area of the city before. It was really a great change of pace for us from Mission Beach. Very queit and tranquil at night. The house was everything we hoped it would be and the whole week was really special to our family. We would recommend this property to anyone.

We stayed here in December and had a great time. The downstairs gameroom did get a little chilly, but we put on the heaters that were provided. The house was very clean and the quality of the furniture and things was excellent. We would definetely consider coming back again.
