Great Location, More than enough space, outside could use some TLC though.

We returned from Sunshine and Smiles on August 21st and overall, we had a great time! There was more than enough space in the house for 8 adults and 4 kids under 12. They loved the pool... The kitchen was well equipped... and the proximity to the beach was unbeatable. The views out the front of the house let us see Dolphins virtually every morning and it was very easy to get to virtually anywhere we needed to go... that's a great feature of the Outer Banks. For those who are looking to book this home for the future, these are the questions I would ask: 1) Have the bushes around the house been trimmed and have the vines growing on the fence around the pool been cut back? Overall, the bushes that look like a nice square hedge in the above picture were at least 3 times the size and overgrowing the driveways by at least 2 or 3 feet on both sides when we were there. There were also weedy looking vines growing through the fence around the pool. 2) Has the backyard been re-sodded or at least mowed and de-weeded? The back yard to this house is a great size, but with prickly weeds all over it and much of the grassy area really being nothing but weeds, it was virtually unusable. This was a great disappointment having 4 children with us who would have loved being able to occasionally kick a ball around the back yard. 3) How many chairs are around the pool? For a house that sleeps so many, there were a total of 5 or 6 chairs around the back pool 4) If I rent a grill, will I get a grill that is of the size that it will be able to fit food for at least 10 and will it be of the quality that it will not simply blow out at the slightest of winds? As I said earlier, the house is a great one... the location is great and the interior is suitable for the number of people advertised... However, spending a total of more than $5,000 for a week of lodging, those are questions that I would have wished I knew to ask before arriving.

We just returned from Sunshine & Smiles on June 12th. I have to say that we had the most amazing time at this house! It was perfect for everyone! We had 4 kids and 6 adults. The views were spectacular! There was plenty of room for everyone and it was nice that everyone had their own space. Lisa, you were wonderful! Any issues we had were immediately addressed. We are already considering returning again next year!

I feel compelled to write a review, because lack of reviews made me hesitant to book here. If not for a last minute booking when appeared Hurricane Earl would not hit OBX too hard. I'm not worried about keeping a secret as we prefer off peak season anyways so here goes my review. I've been going to outer banks for over 18 years. And this was the most fun I've had in awhile. We spent more time on the beach than ever before. We rescued a 100 lb tuna one night, saw a baby shark one early morning that washed ashore and wasn't so lucky. Had fun with flash lights seeing countless sand crabs in the dark. I've stayed as close to the beach before, but never with these amazing unobstructed views. It was nice to go to the beach so frequently throughout the day only have to set up out stuff once and tear down once a day. and was nice to just walk barefoot. I was the only one in my group with young kids, but mini-golf, go carts, "WINGS", the pier were all short jogs away. Also under sold in the description is the parking at the house. I'm sure people who go to beach in large groups have experienced having to ask someone to move their car, or being asked for your keys or to move yours so people can get out. At this property you could have seven cars, and never be blocked, and you could if needed to park 14-15 cars [if you were doing a wedding on the beach in front of the house]. This was one of the nicer houses compared to the neighboring houses. It was very family oriented and "charming" is probably the first word that comes to mind. I've stayed in houses before that elevators, multiple jacuzzis, hard wood floors, but I preferred the carpeting, and the kid friendly furniture and I could relax a little and not have to shadow my young kids as they played in the house. The big tv wasn't a widescreen but was perfect for kid dvds like Dora and Blue's Clues and perfect for the wii like another reviewer said. only cons: was yard was not kid or adult friendly because of these spiky things that are natural to the environment. But really who comes to the beach to play in the yard? all week my kids were in the pool and front of the house (barefoot most of the time) and never stepped on any, grandpa not so fortunate though, maybe stepped on them all, sparing his grandkids.

S&S has the best views in all of Nags Head. We had 6 adults and lots of children stay here and we all loved the house. There was enough room for Wii Tournaments, eating together for meals, and tons of space for the kids to play. Getting to the beach was a breaze and waking up to sunrises was the best! Tons of good food all around. Must try the Market for the freshest seafood in town - the kitchen had everything you need to cook up some great feasts!

Spent new years there for 2008-9 and had a blast. Have complete access to ocean and great view of the ocean. Ocean is 15 feet across the street, so you can run back quickly. Great location. Hot Tub. Yeah baby! Had 6 kids in the house and all had a good time. plenty of space. would highly recommend and plan on using again. Owner/management are very helpful and attentive.

We stayed at Sunshine and Smiles with our 3 little boys for a week and we didn't want to leave!! Beautifal house, excellent location and the owner is great to deal with. This was our first trip to the OBX and we will be back and will book this house again. I would reccomend it to anyone especially though if you have multiple families, the upstairs/downstairs split is ideal.

We just got home from staying in NC at "Sunshine and Smiles", and the name of this wonderful beach house says it all. The house was wonderful and fit our 6 adults and 6 children easily. There was room for two more. Ocean access is right out the front door, and the beach is wonderful. Robb (owner) was great to work with, and answered my many e-mails and phone calls promptly. I highly recommend this property.
