We enjoyed our stay at the Twisted Willow. It had all the ammenities we like. As a pleasant surprise there was a bike trail very close to the house. The setting is lovely.
Owner response:Maureen, Thanks for your wonderful review. I also like that the walking/bike paths are so close to the cottage. We hope to have you come and enjoy lovely Sonoma County again. Michelle

We stayed at the Twisted Willow Cottage over Thanksgiving for a family reunion in Windsor. As soon as we arrived, we knew we chose the right place for us (2 adults and 2 children, ages 6 and 12). The cottage is not big, but we were comfortable. My husband, who loves to cook, forgot to bring his knives. He felt that the knives in the kitchen were a bit dull. Other than this minor issue, we had a wonderful time and made wonderful memories of our stay in Sebastopol. It's extremely private, and the fireplace kept us warm throughout our stay. The bed in the bedroom was extremely comfortable. The pull-out sofa sleeper in the living room wasn't as comfortable (the bar in the middle poked through the mattress), but we made do. We absolutely love this little town and fell in love with the scenic beauty of the place. Andy's Fresh Produce Market and Pacific/Fiesta Market are a must if you're looking for fresh vegetables, fruit and meat. Hole in the Wall and Underwood Bar & Bistro are a must for breakfast and dinner, respectively. Michelle was always available to answer our questions and accommodated our requests. We will definitely be back (without kids next time)!
Owner response:Cristina and Family, Thanks for your review. Good to know about the knives, I'll get them sharpened. I know about those sofa bed mattresses, that's why I have a foam pad and 2 mattress covers to ease that darn bar. However, I am so happy you toured our lovely town and we look forward to your next visit with us(without the kids)! Michelle and Oso

We loved our stay. The cottage is tucked among trees in a very private spot, and beautifully appointed. In particular, we as enthusiastic cooks appreciated the well-thought-out kitchen. The fireplace added a perfect note to a cozy getaway. The wine, cheese, crackers, and wine tasting coupons we found waiting for us upon arrival show a level of attention to detail that we've only found before at much more expensive accommodations. We felt very well looked after.
Owner response:Ann, We love to cook as well especially with all the wonderful local fresh fruits and vegetables. The local wineries love your business so I am able to pass on to you the complimentary wine passes. Thanks for your review and we look forward to your next visit us and to Sonoma Wine Country. I enoyed my stay at the Twisted Willow Cottage. I was seeking a clean and comfortable place to stay. The location of the cottage was excellant for both wine tasting touring and cycling! I could simply ride my bike to the biking trail less than one mile away. Excellant stores and restruants are nearby as well. The cottage is very cozy with attention to detail in warmth and hospitality. The only suggestion I would have is including a stackable washer/dryer unit. Seeking out a laundrymat and spending time in one while on vacation is not pleasent. I did not need one during my stay. I just noticed that there were none.....unless I missed seeing them!
Owner response:Teresa and Jerry, I am glad to hear your wine touring and cycling around our beautiful wineries and country roads was a a big plus for you. I agree, it would be great to have a stackable washer/dryer, not enough space, however. In the past, when my guests have asked me about this amentity, I have suggested a 3 min drive to Forestville, there is a laundramat with a great coffee shop right next door and also a wonderful breakfast place as well. In the town of Sebastopol, 12 min away, there is a fluff and fold servce if you do not want to wait for your laundry. I appreciate your feedback as to all my future guests. We hope you visit us again! Michelle and Oso Koenigshfer

My husband and I absolutely loved this quiet and peaceful cottage. Totally private and very comfortable. We enjoyed reading in the garden and sipping wine by the fireplace. This is our second visit and we will be back for sure... The only possible improvement would be WiFi.
Owner response:Thanks for coming to visit Wine Country again. We are working on getting WiFi!!

We just returned home from a fantastic, week-long, stay at the Twisted Willow Cottage. The setting, nestled in the woods is bucolic and serene. The location is a wondeful "base" from which to explore the surrounding areas and wineries. Michelle and Oso have created a truly blissfull oasis. The cottage is beautifully furnished with everything one would need and some wonderful extra touches. I highly recommend a stay here.
Owner response:Please come back and enjoy more of our Wine Country flavor!!

We spent a beautiful weekend in the Twisted willow Cottage and could not have found a better place. The house is absolutely adorable. It was very clean and well decorated. There is every amenity you could want. From two nice TV, a kitchen with everything in it, and best of all a huge deck. It is very close to a number of wineries and great restaurants. We rented bikes and road around on the bike path to a variety of different wineries. I would recommend this place to my friends and family and would stay here again in a heart beat.

We had a wonderful weekend getaway to the Twisted Willow Cottage. It's a lovely and peaceful spot in the woods, but very near several great wineries and outdoor activities. Michelle was so very helpful and her attention to detail is highly evident! We had everything we needed to make the most of our stay. We rented bicycles at West County Revolution in Sebastopol and biked the West County Trail on Saturday, and then on Sunday we visited Iron Horse winery (incredible views)! We took advantage of the deck and grill at the cottage to cook a feast on Saturday night (highly recommend Andy's produce market nearby) and enjoyed some of the wine we picked up on our bike ride. The queen bed upstairs was very comfortable for me and my husband, and my sister who was visiting from the East Coast said the sofabed in the living room was one of the most comfortable she's used. The cottage is so quiet and dark at night we had one of our best nights of sleep in a long time. Everything was very clean, well-maintained, and tastefully decorated. We'll definitely be back!

Lovely little cottage nestled away off the beaten path, offered just the peace and quiet I was looking for. Lots of nearby wineries, shopping and the Russian River Valley is close by with plenty to do there. Cottage contained everything needed for our stay and Michelle is really good about answering questions on local towns. Can't wait to go back again. So glad that I chose to stay here over staying with a hotel chain just no comparison!

This cottage is a small home away from home (only nicer)! Everything you need is available and much more. The setting is so tranquil and comforting. The location is perfect for exploring the area and wine tasting as well as shopping and restaurants. I had one of the best weekends ever here and plan to come back for an even longer stay. It was very hard to leave...

Our week in wine country could not have been better! The Twisted Willow Cottage was so beautiful and comfortable. The pictures on this website do not even begin to accurately portray just how gorgeous this place is. It is close to everything yet privately secluded and nestled in a lovely grove of trees. The living room opens to a large deck with table and chairs and a great barbecue. The furnishings are very comfortable and the owners have done a wonderful job in decorating. The bedroom has a very romantic feel and the bed is also very comfortable. The owners have thought of everything and they are the perfect hosts! The kitchen is well stocked and they welcomed us with a bottle of wine, cheese and crackers, and coffee and tea. Besides tasting some of the best wines in the world, there are lots of other activities close by. Northwoods Golf Course is beautiful (surrounded by amazing Redwoods) and not very expensive. We also found a great running/walking path nearby. There are several places to rent kayaks, too, though we did not get a chance to do so this trip because of the weather. We loved our week at the Twisted Willow Cottage. In fact, my husband said that this was one of the most relaxing and enjoyable vacations he has ever had. We look forward to our next visit.
Owner response:We are so pleased that you chose our cottage to celebrate your 30th anniversary. It is the perfect setting for romance that's for sure. We look forward to your next visit with us. Michelle and Oso

My wife and I loved staying here. Very nice (newly constructed) cottage with everything you need for a restful get-away. We especially loved the ultra-warm gas fireplace insert that was thermostatically controlled. The bed was very comfortable (pillow top) and the kitchen was fully equipped. Couldn't ask for more, but there was more. Pretty setting with a stream nearby, big sun deck, plasma TV with DVD player and surround sound. We highly recommend this place.

We have stayed at the Twisted Willow Cottage several times and have always enjoyed our stay. The area is beautiful and the cottage is peaceful and quiet. If you dont' feel like going out to the wonderful restaurants in the area, you can sit and relax on the nice deck and BBQ or cook dinner in the fully equipped kitchen. There are plenty of winery's in the area to visit. The cottage is exceptionally clean and well mainted and the owners Michelle and Oso make sure that your needs are met. I have recommended Twisted Willow to my friends, family and associates.

How can one begin to describe the healing power of nature, the grandeur of simplicity. A night's stay at the Twisted Willow Cottage surpasses any lure of magnamity. From the crackling of a bushy squirrel mounting a nearby tree, to the bright fuscia stains left behind from a stolen berry, to the sun's ray's mazing through the nest of crossing branch limbs-only to tickle one's face while sipping morning's creamy hot refreshment. Sebastopol has imprinted itself forever in the logarhythums of my life. Kim O'Rear ( wife to writer of former page entry)

We pulled into the driveway, I got out & was excited to see the blackberries; I picked one and popped it in my mouth... I knew I was going to love it here. The cottage is like a large playhouse. Quaint & beautiful. I love it! Every room is beautiful and comforting. I am somehow drawn to the textured green carpet, the Tv is cleverly tucked away & hidden; we never turned it on. On day two, I took pictures all throughout the grounds. The blackberry bushes almost completely envelope the cottage's circumference, providing a comforting security all while offering yummy snacks. The cottage is perfectly cozy.. I wuld not want it bigger. I will never forget our twO hour nap we had immediately following our arrival. Perfect place, perfect time, perfect nap. I doubt this spot can be topped. I look forward to our return. Shannon & Kim, Peoria, AZ

The look & feel of this sweet place really exceeded our expectations & we couldn't have been happier that we chose to stay here during this special time. Every detail -from the giant bath towels to the beautiful sheer window convering upstairs and the lovely wood beams & doors to all the music channels we could want-was clearly thought out--and appreciated! Dear Michelle & Oso, What a beautiful and warm setting for our family. Thanksgiving this year! It was our grandson's first Thanksgiving, and the thankful "attendees included his parents, both sets of grandparents and dear framily friends. The smells of turkey, dressing and pumpkin pie baking filled the cottage and we all felt very much at home. The day was beautiful enough that the deck was a perfect gathering spot in the aft. Toward evening we moved to the cottage-with its warm kitchen and cozy living room and fireplace. Fate seemed to play a part in choosing the Twisted Willow Cottage-only to discover its location walking distance from our daughter's home. Thank you for being such great hosts and helping to make this first Thanksgiving with grandson Ari so very special! Sincerely, Marv & Soni Koskela
