MOLD! 6 weeks rent never returned as promised.

We booked for Jan/Feb 2012. I began experiencing breathing problems, headaches, etc. Then we saw mold on walls and found extreme dampness under counters. Some particle board bowed to floor. Manager and mold person came. I spoke with owner via phone and she said, "I don't know what to do other than to rent you a motel room or refund your money". We moved out that day and owner paid for one night motel stay. We found another space. Dr. treated me for ear infections and breathing issues. Owner has NEVER (as of today, March 30) returned the money. She assured me, via email, she would do so. Stopped by exterior of unit late Feb. Saw mold on window sides of the wooden blinds, as viewed from outside. I'd advise you make certain the unit has been cleared by county health department inspection....not just evidence of visit by some mold treatment business.

We chose to stay at the Calm Seas Condo during the first week of October which was a great time if you prefer less tourists. The condo was cozy and clean. We loved the beach decor that added to the SPI theme. The beach was less than a five minute walk and well maintained. A cooler, beach chairs and children's toys were available for the beach if needed . The use of the washer and dryer was a real time saver. We can't think of anything that you would need to bring that hadn't been provided. We flew and chose not to rent a car. The free shuttle on the island, "The Wave" was always available and taxi service for early morning fishing trips was never a problem. There are many great Seafood and Mexican restaurants within walking distance. Be sure to take your catch of the day to Daddy's to be prepared for a small fee, we went several times. There are many nearby places to rent bikes to ride on the beach for a very small fee. Shelby, the owner, made scheduling our trip to her condo easy. We would return to Calm Seas our next trip to SPI. This was our first time using VRBO and we were very pleased as to how easy it was.

This condo was very clean and comforable. Great kitchen, nice furnishings, and very spacious for a one bedroom. The location was perfect, just a short stroll to the gulf and close to everything really. The beach access at the end of the street (just 4 houses down) opens onto a very nice section of beach. There was great swimming and it was never too crowded while we were there (at the height of the busy season.) The owner was a pleasure to deal with, the manager was friendly an helpful, and overall I would not have any hesitation in recommending this property. Hope we can stay there again on our next trip to South Padre!

We are a family of 5 that stayed at Calm Seas in August 2010. This condo is very close the beach , and is has very nice decor. Even the sleeper sofa provided a decent night's sleep! Property manager very accessible and helpful. Owner was immediately available by phone to help me through one issue with the internet access which was quickly resolved. Our favorites on the island ~ National Seashore , Schlitterbahn , Amberjacks Restaurant. Thanks Shelby ~ we'll be back!

My husband, myself and our two daughters spent 4 nights @ the Calm Seas condo and we loved it. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed. It was very clean and very cute! My daughters who are 2 and 3 LOVED the bunk beds! The beach is literally a 2 minute walk from the door of the condo and is very nice! We had a great time Shelby and plan on coming back again soon! It was so comfortable and homey we didn't want to leave! Thanks for letting us use your condo!

Stayed here in July and everything was great. The proximity to the beach (5 minute walk) was outstanding and the accommodations were awesome. The owners have taken great care in preparing a tastefully decorated place. We really felt like we were home. This was our first vacation rental experience and we can only hope they will all be like this.

Every detail of the condo from decor to the amenities was so special & we really liked the kid-friendliness of the place (way to go on the wagon idea!). This place is absolutely a must to stay condo. Very nicely decorated, very functional, they have everything from toys to beach umbrella, beach chairs not to mention very close to the beach...made our stay so pleasant. We stayed at this condo for the month of February in 2010. The condo was perfect for our family-of-four-on-a-budget needs. The semi-private patio in the back was a great place to hang out with the kids protected from the wind, but still in the sunshine. The owners provided lots of very helpful amenities such as a cooler, beach toys, and beach chairs. The kitchen and laundry appliances were very nice and modern. The condo is very nicely furnished. Being located on the ground level was very convenient for us when dealing with groceries, our infant children, strollers, trash disposal, etc... The neighbors in the building were all nice. My only two complaints are that the hot water needed to be hotter, even at full hot in the shower it was not hot enough for us and the hot water thermostat was hard to access, so I could not modify it myself for the month. Second the toilet paper holder in the bath needs a new location, sounds trivial, but after a month of the toilet seat hanging up on the toilet paper holder it gets frustrating. Those are two very minor complaints for our otherwise fantastic vacation. We would stay here again. Thanks Shelby.

Great place with easy access to the beach. Loved the extra items for going to the beach. Decor was beautiful and felt at home. Owner is easy to work with and very helpful. And, if you don't have a pillow top bed, you will want one after this stay...it was wonderfully relaxing.

We absolutely loved the condo! It felt very much like home and was a very close walk to the beach. In fact we wanted to go ahead and book it for next summer, but the weekend we wanted was already booked - one year in advance! Looks like others loved it too!

This condo is EXCELLENT!! My husband and I stayed for 1 week, and this is the first time that my husband actually really hated to leave! Normally when we go on vacation, he's ready to leave, but he loved the comfort of this condo, and he hated to say 'goodbye' We hope to stay at it again in the near future. It truly is 'home away from home'.

WOW! Waht an amazing way to spend 4 days surrounded by the beautiful gulf and this beautiful condo! We have spent twice as much per night in the past for half of all the wonderful ammeniteies we recieved at The Calm Seas. This condo was better than advertised. Very close to the beach. The BBQ grill and wagon came in handy. Very reasonably priced in comparison to other units we looked at. We will be back.

This was a great condo for our vacation. I took my 17 year old son and his girlfriend to Padre for a week and the bunkbeds were perfect. Especially since they were right outside my bedroom. The washer/dryer is a must, along with the dishwasher. Beautiful furnishings and great promixity to the beach.

The condo in South Padre Island was very nice and cozy. It was like our home away from home. It was very clean and decorated very beautifully. That's what caught our attention. We would definately go and stay there again.

We enjoyed the condo immensely...it was absolutely perfect for our beach vacation needs! We loved the openess of the kitchen/living/dining room because it made it easy for the family to be together even while doing our own things in the different rooms. And our son loved the bunk beds, especially the top one. Overall, the condo is very well kept and clean, and the washer and dryer were huge pluses for us. My three little boys had their first trip to the beach at the first of June and we had a fabulous stay in the condo. Access to the beach was very easy and the wagon helped a lot with getting all of our things down to the beach. Having the washer/dryer in the unit is a necessity! Don't rent anything without one. This condo is small but very well laid out. Our family of five was very comfortable. We had the two older boys in the bunks and the baby in a pack 'n play in the bedroom with us. We just turned on the fan in the bathroom at the boys' bedtime (for a little white noise) and they weren't disturbed with our activities in the kitchen or living room. I would definitely recommend this place!
