Every guest who wrote in the guest book referred to this rental as a 'home away from home' - a perfect description. It was immaculate, well appointed, charming and comfy. We'd recommend this property to all of our friends. Easy to get everywhere in the city (we had a car), convenient to groceries, good shops and restaurants a short walk away. It's situated in a lovely neighborhood. The Sand Point Grill at the top of the hill also highly recommended. (Owner charming, chef talented - delightful all around.) Enjoy!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

First, let me admit that as travelers go, we are pretty spoiled by years of business travel on the company's dime. (Oh, I won't lie - I'm like the Princess who Slept on the Pea when it comes to comfort.) So when I booked through homeaway for a family vacation, my hopes were high but expectations were low. We could not have been more delighted. This cottage is absolutely engineered to maximize comfort and space, and provides a lush, otherworldly setting where no detail has been overlooked. One's first sight upon arrival is the ancient tree that guards the patio, and it does indeed give the cottage a treehouse feel. Stepping inside and discarding one's wet boots, it's a delight to find that the floor is heated and the space is quite cozy. The pillowtop bed and the air mattress on the fold-out couch were both really comfy and the sheets were soft. The bathroom has a spa-like quality with the pebble floor, the Jacuzzi tub, gleaming white fixtures, and wonderful, full-sized shampoo & bath gel (those little bottles are so wasteful!). We didn't use the kitchen much but it was fully functional and well-stocked (and cute!). The bedroom walls are all closets & cabinets on one side, book shelves on the other, so there's a ton of storage space. Other features include a washer-dryer and a cute little office with a printer - you could really just move in here with a toothbrush and be fine. They even provide reusable shopping bags and recycling bins - you won't get that in any hotel! My only reservation in writing this review is that I want to stay here again and hope the cottage won't get too booked up, but I had to let people know what a great place this is. We only met the owner once but she was super-sweet and accommodating. If you are headed to Seattle, this is the place to stay.Owner response: THANK YOU for your wonderful review! David and I appreciate your thoughtful comments so much and hope to see you again soon!

Booking now for a full month this April. Realized that we forgot to leave feedback last year. Last April's 3 week stay was perfect! Try and meet the owners as they are wonderful host. Cute place, quiet, and close to stores, parks, and walking & bike trials. They have it packed for your arrival and will help with any information, suggestions or items needed. So looking forward to next month in Seattle and staying here again.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing.
Owner response: Dear friends, Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review and for your very kind remarks! David and I are also looking forward to seeing you again in April. Daffodils are blooming and trees are budding so it should be gorgeous when you arrive. Peggy & David

My Wife and I had the pleasure of meeting both the owners and we really appreciated Peggy's attention to our needs and preparing the cottage prior to our arrival. A lot of very special touches, breakfast treats, coffee, she made It very quaint and nice. Location is excellent This was our very first attempt with HomeAway.com and I must say we were pleasantly pleased. Although I did have some complaints that garnished the rating from 5-3.5. We also had an ant issue but Peggy was very understanding in helping us through it. A little bit of work and these changes would easily score a five in future visits.Thank you. 1) W-ifi - The Wi-fi is a pet-peeve of mine. I am in the IT business and we used the Wi-Fi everyday. Most days I could not get on the network, connection issues were either dropping connection, and at time times no connection at all along with a weak signal. The best signal is against the wall in the bedroom. 2) The sound of the television through the walls of the owners residence was loud enough to be heard all the way across the apartment. 3) The sofa/futon was hard and uncomfortable. The throw pillows had an oily body odor smell. 4) The bed was hard and has an indention in the middle so everything rolls to the center.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

We're proud of our many 5-star reviews from our valued guests and hope to earn their high approval going forward. We encourage our guests to call us 24/7 if they have any problems at all during their stay. We have addressed Wade's comments as follows: 1) Wi-fi - During Wade's stay we too noticed a problem with our computers being slow [both slow email and slow internet]. Our router showed a normal green light which is supposed to indicate that the wi-fi throughout our house and the apartment is functioning properly. To correct our slow internet and email, we finally shut our computer down and restarted it which corrected our problem and also corrected the spotty wi-fi problem in the apartment, but unfortunately Wade had already left. We have since tested the wi-fi in all areas of our house and the apartment. We wish that Wade had mentioned this to us so that we could have put 2 and 2 together and realized that the slow computer & internet in our house and the spotty wi-fi in the apartment were related. We would have been able to resolve Wade's and our problems very quickly. Sorry that we are not very tech savvy! 2) We have noted this problem and will make sure our radio and TV are kept at a low volume. The apartment and our house have one common wall and it was constructed with the best sound-proofing possible. Again, we wish Wade had mentioned this to us so we could have dealt with the problem immediately. 3) We've ordered a new sleeper sofa to arrive soon. We've dry cleaned the throw pillow covers and checked them for any unpleasant odor. Again, we wish Wade had mentioned this so we could have dealt with the problem immediately. 4). We are very sorry Wade found the bed uncomfortable. We take his comment very seriously and a new luxury bed is coming next week. In addition to the issues mentioned above, we are so very sorry that Wade and his wife experienced the problem with ants that we've had in Seattle in late summer and fall because of the drought we've had here. In spite of our best intentions and efforts to keep the apartment immaculately clean, the ants won the battle for a few days during Wade's stay. He and his wife were very gracious and understanding while we did our best to defeat them. We're relieved and happy to report they are now gone and that ongoing environmentally-friendly pest control treatment is in place! Peggy & David Coats

We spent the weekend here with our 2 year-old and had a great time. The apartment is in a quiet, beautiful neighborhood. Has a separate entrance and its own little garden. The kitchen had everything we needed ... and more! The place is charmingly decorated and very clean. Our hosts were very gracious and attentive. We'd definitely go back.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

I almost don't want to write this review as I want to keep the secret of this lovely apartment all to myself. BUT, the owners deserve the acknowledgement of running such a perfectly lovely and comfortable unit for guests to enjoy. The apartment is perfect for two individuals, can easily fit 3 but to make it 4 the family or friends would have to be very close and/or young children. For 2-3 the unit is perfect! The location is easy to get to, close for anyone with U of W business and for those enjoying the downtown, it is an easy 20 min drive. I have never had so much attention to detail in a unit and feel as if the owners were preparing for old friends or family to stay. A great and easy driveway AND heated floors put this unit over the top for me. Thanks Peggy for all the ease and comfort of being at home!Owner response: Thank you so much for your very thoughtful review! We feel so fortunate to have wonderful guests like you. We take great pleasure in helping to make our guests' time in Seattle comfortable and beyond their expectations. We hope to see you the next time you visit Seattle. Thanks again for choosing our apartment! Peggy

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely studio. The owners have thought of everything to make a guest feel at home while visiting Seattle. Complete and updated kitchen (including stove and dishwasher) and updated bathroom. The studio is immaculate and well-designed and includes a W/D. The bed was very comfortable and the surrounding area was very quiet. The studio is situated in a lovely neighborhood with wide streets, which made walking our dogs easy. Parking was very convenient on our own driveway. The studio has a sweet little patio just outside which makes outdoor dining very easy. Grocery stores and shopping were convenient and close by. The owner graciously supplied us with several wonderful restaurant recommendations and pointed us to a nearby dog park. We hope to return soon for another wonderful stay. :)Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, people with disabilities, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you for your very complimentary review! I enjoyed meeting and talking with you about some of our wonderful Seattle restaurants which I'm glad you sampled. Peggy

This was our first visit to Seattle and we couldn't have picked a better apartment to stay in. It is comfortable, very clean, well resourced and set in a beautiful neighbourhood. With it's fantastic wall of windows natural light floods into this apartment. The fridge is stocked with breakfast goodies and there is a cupboard of tinned and packet food stuffs if needed. There is a very useful map and list of local amenities left as well. It has very good bus links to Seattle Centre and downtown for those who don't drive and is within walking distance of a lovely restaurant and bakery. The nearest supermarket is a longer walk but if you are driving this isn't important :) From here we were at Seattle Centre in around 30/40 minutes by bus where we were able to see the Space Needle, the EMP/Sci-Fi Museum, Ride the Duck, or travel on to visit Pike Place Market, go shopping at the Westlake Centre or take the water taxi to Alki Beach. I would live here all the time if I could and we will definitely stay here again if we're ever in the area. It was wonderful to be able to take our time in the mornings rather than rushing to breakfast in a hotel and then to be able to come home and cook our own evening meal at the end of a busy sightseeing day was just lovely :) We were also lucky enough to be able to access the private beach at Windemere Park (a short car journey/ or a longer walk around the corner) for the afternoon with it's fantastic view of Mt Rainier. This topped off a fabulous week in Seattle which passed all too quickly! Thank you David and Peggy for all the lovely little finishing touches that made our stay so special :)Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: We're very pleased to have another 5 star review and a very satisfied guest! THANK YOU!
