We could have not asked for a nicer place to stay as we explored San Francisco and the surrounding area. The cottage was well furnished and comfortable. Location was great too, close to highway 101, easy to get to SF or over to the coast and north to the big trees. Great vacation home and nice owners.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We had a wonderful stay in our Cotati rental! It was tastefully decorated and very modern! We thought this was the perfect location to everything we wanted to do. Close to both San Francisco and wine tasting! When we saw Ron the first day he was gracious enough to show us around not only the other rental, which was gorgeous, but also showed us his house too! All tastefully decorated!! Most everything you could think of was provided, the only thing we were lacking was Zip Loc bags and Saran Wrap. We will definitely come back and stay here again! Thanks Ron for being such a gracious host! JudyRecommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Absolutely perfect! We wanted a place with space, a bed, laundry, full kitchen, patio--in other words, not a hotel. This was incredible! And the proprietor Ron was so willing to make sure we had what we needed and were comfortable. The perfect host. We are already planning on going back!Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

My boyfriend and I stayed in the cottage at the Sage Hen for a full week in the Fall. It was exactly as advertised. We requested a grill and were loaned one, with charcoal, fluid and a lighter, from the owner. He also brought us fresh guava from on the property, and even loaned us some staples we had forgotten. The cottage is beautiful and was completely clean when we checked in. It is located very near the highway, so you have great access to wine country and the coast, but not so close that there is highway noise. Grocery stores, restaurants and coffee shops are nearby. We would definitely rent this property again, and would absolutely recommend it to others.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

Better late than never! We spent a week in this wonderful cottage last fall. It was the perfect place for us to stay while we enjoyed our first visit to wine country. We had everything we needed plus more... right down to a blanket and cooler for picnic lunches. We would highly recommend this to our friends and family. The only down side was that we missed out on meeting the owners as they were out of town the week we were there. Thanks for an amazing retreat. We loved every minute of our stay!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+.

My husband and I needed to find a place to stay because we were riding in the Gran Fondo on Saturday, October 1, 2011. We tried all the hotels in the area and could find nothing under $150.00 per night. I went on VRBO and located this adorable cottage in Cotati. The pictures on the site were great, but they paled in comparison to the actual place. It is amazingly quiet, peaceful and serene. The cottage had everything we needed. We arrived a few days before the ride and toured the local organic farms and picked up fruits and veggies, bought local honey, and a "Mom's Apple Pie". The owner, Ron was great and very helpful. We sat outside each night and ate our organic dinners and cycled around the area. On the day of the ride, we were able to get to the start line within 10 minutes and after a relaxing few days, completed the ride with ease. Amazing! We plan to make this a yearly stay.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+.

We could have found a nicer place to stay to visit the surrounding area and wine country. The cottage is furnished with everything you need and is very comfortable. Location is 1 minute from the 101 but you do not even know it is there. It feels like you’re in the country, surrounded by the peaceful scenery of the property. Great home with great owners, Ron is fantastic. Thank you for everything Ron and family we will be back.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

The studio was easy to find because of its ideal location - close to all conveniences (but all we really needed for meals at home was food since everything else, from olive oil to lots of spices were provided by Ron and Brooke or left by previous guests) and close to all roads leading to wineries in Napa, Sonoma and Mendocino (San Francisco and Sausalito were only 30-45 minutes away on Hwy 101). In spite of its proximity to "civilization," once the doors were closed, we felt as if we were in the country, surrounded by the peaceful scenery of the property gardens. A nice surprise was seeing wild turkeys drinking from the fountain. The studio was very clean, the furnishings comfortable, and the kitchen fully equipped. It was great having WiFi as we were able to plan day trips easily. Our best find on the internet was the Culinary Institute of America - we were familiar with the one in NY but did not know there was a CA "campus" - the store was stocked with everything one could ever want for the kitchen; the collection of corkscrews was interesting and best of all was the Greystone restaurant with its wonderful selection of wines and delicious dishes. Thank you, Ron and Brooke, for providing a beautiful place to rest and recuperate.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Ron's Sage Hen Retreat in Cotati is an ideal base location for your vacation. We enjoyed our short commute to the wine valleys, the easy access to San Francisco Ferries and the scenic drives to the coast and nearby majestic Redwoods. The cottage and surrounding outdoor patio spaces made for a comfortable stay. The decorating and amenities of the cottage met all our expectations and more. Ron & Brooke are gracious hosts and made us feel very much at home.Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
