Nestled between private homes, you will never have to walk farther than your front yard for beach space. This is a charming Carribean style building of concrete and steel. We are over 4 blocks from the nearest high rise.
You will love the unobstructed view with ocean, sandy beach and blue sky for as far as the eye can see. The sounds of the waves add a calmness to this already warm and cozy villa.
Relax and enjoy the spectacular sunsets. Take a few steps and you can be out on the beach for an early morning walk with your four-legged family member.
Put your feet up in a Lazy Boy lounge chair or stretch out in the comfortable overstuffed chair with large ottoman.
Everything is provided to enhance your comfort and enjoyment. Don't pack the car with linens, or kitchen utensils. All is provided to make your stay as carefree as possible.
And for our non pet vacationers, our units are tiled with strict pet requirements for only the well trained dog. We do not accept dogs less than one year old. We do not allow cats during weekly rental season. We have a monthly extermination.

As my personal experience, it was an overall good location to stay. Quiet, Peaceful and right on the ocean. I was initially supposed to stay in the 2nd level condo, but because of a family emergency i had to push our vacation back a week and the condo was booked. Barbara accommodated us by giving us a 1st floor room at a cheaper price. Because I had already payed for the 2nd level room, Barbara owed me money back. My only problem is that Barbara still owes me money and keeps blowing me off. She has told me numerous times it's on its way, but I have received nothing. Barbara was very easy to get a hold of when you are purchasing the condo for a rental, but when it comes to contacting her for money owed back it can be quite difficult to get a hold of her.Owner response: Indeed it did take more time than expected to get the $30 refund returned to Jay. I personally do not handle the financial side of the rentals. The property co-owner takes on this part of the responsibility. I agree I was a little lax in my communication. It took a little longer than expected to return the money. I not only returned the money but also added $10 for the inconvenience for a total of a $40 refund. I'm glad Jay enjoyed his stay at the condo and sorry this situation developed.

This was our second stay at the Waves. We stayed at this owners first floor property last Sept and the second floor property this year Sept. Second floor has the great view and the first floor the easy access. Both are great deals. Barbara, of course, is excellent to work with. She seems to be always trying to upgrade and make each property better. Its true the the A/C could be better but if you "manage" the blinds and doors when it is warm, everythbing will be ok. Balcony is great for meeting your neighbors and a definite plus. Units are also very quiet and its hard to hear if another dog barks. Just a great place to relax and make friends with other pet owners. We always leave having exchanged addresses with other visitors. We are already planning to reserve a week again next Sept and possible even more weeks in 2012. The key lock boxes are also a big plus.Recommended for: Pet owners, age 55+.

Loved The Waves and it was just what I expected. My elderly mom and I and our poodle, Colette, were on the second floor originally, but due to a slight kerfuffle we moved to the unit below us on the ground level. That worked wonderfully. Having no stairs for my mother was great, and it made it so easy to take Colette out right onto the common deck and down to the beach. Barbara is a lovely person and so accommodating and easy to deal with. The rates are extremely reasonable for an oceanfront place. And for any dog lover, it's ideal. It was like staying at a Sleep-Over Dog Park. Colette met so many friends coming and going to the beach and that made it so easy for the dogs' owners to chat comfortably as well. I didn't find any lack of privacy because of the common deck. It was really quite nice. The few times there was a person or two out there, it was very pleasant. As we all know, dog owners are great people anyway:) Thanks, Barbara, for a great vacation -- finally -- and for the extra day. It was perfect.Recommended for: People with disabilities, pet owners.

My family and I absolutely adored this place. The unit was clean, kept-up, and everything worked just fine. The view was extraordinary, I can't even put into words, we still look at pictures and just sigh. The owner was friendly, responded quickly and was very helpful. The price is perfect and more than fair for all the wonderful things you get. We will be staying there lots more, I only wish we could live there permanently!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

Barbara is friendly, easy to work with and always answered her cell phone. The 9 unit building has 9 total parking spaces. Unit 5 is on the second floor in the middle and was clean, tastefully decorated and has 2 rooms connected by a narrow hall. The front door opens into the bedroom which has 2 bureaus, TV and comfy Queen bed. The wall air conditioner unit was being serviced and the loaner blew strong cold air. The closet is tiny. Bathroom is on the left of the hall and has good water pressure and an average size tub. Mini-kitchen is on the right, small but very well stocked with everything you need. Den has a big chair with ottoman, sleeper bed couch, small table with 2 chairs and a TV, no stereo so bring a portable for your CDs. There are no windows to open to let the ocean breeze blow into the unit. Beneath the patio is a community deck with lounge chairs where people sunbathe, outside shower and gather. Beach access is a path from this deck. This unit has many good things going for it but to be fair I have to mention 2 things I would change. A small issue is the den gets a little hot even though it only reached 78F/25C. The cold air from the bedroom couldn't circulate to the den even with the help of both ceiling fans and the switch-activated air flow system. The big issue is with the patio. It is not private, you share it with the people on your left and right. It is 15 feet long 5 and a half feet wide. The gates on each side are 2 feet tall/just 5 inches above my knee. Imagine people, dogs and kids sharing a patio area together. Potential problems with privacy, relaxation or romance. Even with a nice neighbor it would be awkward. I met a nice couple who had a first floor unit. They also liked the building but were disappointed because they couldn't see the ocean and had to exit directly onto the community deck without any private patio. Any experienced beach traveler will tell ou having a nice private enclosed patio to enjoy and look at the ocean is the most important thing you want. However, some people don't care and just stay inside all the time watching TV or going out to shop and play putt-putt. I was very lucky, midweek stay, and didn't have anyone next to me. Don't let my patio review scare you off. You might get lucky too, if so, then you will definitely like this comfy clean unit. Lastly, make sure you firmly secure the bedroom door from randomly blowing shut when you open the front door or patio door.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 6/6

We stayed on the second floor. The view was wonderful and the condo was easy to get into due to a lock box outside the door. The owner was very nice and easy to work with on the phone. OK, about the actual room. The living/kitchen area was not so bad, though the dishwasher falls forward when you open it because it's not secured, which looks like it may be due to tile and wood damage at the bottom. The biggest issue we had was the bedroom. There are two beds in the room and one of them had three big stains on the bottom side of the comforter. The picture of the room you see on VRBO dosen't look like the room we stayed in... it's blue, not yellow. The closet in the bedroom smelled really bad which was not a issue unless you wanted to put your clothing in it. It's not that the condo was really dirty, it just needs some TLC...except of coarse for the bed linens and closet which we did not use much. I really wanted to love this place with a great view, but I can't deal with dirty bed linens and the run down feel of this condo. We were looking for a romantic get- away and I'm sorry to say this was not it.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway.
Owner response: I'm really sorry that you folks did not find all you wanted in the condo. Thank you for saying that "the owner was very nice and easy to work with". I'm disappointed that you did not call me immediately when you discovered your areas of concern. As you may remember during our conversations, I asked you to call if you had any questions or concerns. This is also stated in the rental contract. The first time I was aware of your issue was when this review was placed on VRBO. So, allow me to explain the reason the dishwasher "falls forward" and the bedroom was blue instead of yellow. As part of our ongoing updating, and just prior to you visit we had new tile installed and painted the bedroom. Immediately upon reading your review, I called the tile installer & had them properly secure the dishwasher. The stains you mentioned on the comforters were also addressed. Since the stains were on the underside the cleaning crew obviously missed them. We have multiple comforters to ensure that they are changed. The odor in the closet was not obvious to others. All I can guess, is that some residual odor may have remained for a short period as a result of the painting, tile installation, etc. Again, I am sorry that you were disappointed and I hope that if there are issues in your future rentals you will call the owners and allow them to address your concerns immediately

This rental was absolutely perfect for my family. The photos and description on this rental are very accurate. The unit was clean, well maintained, and had everything we needed for our stay. The owner and I had great communications and she responded quickly to any questions I had. If I e-mailed her she would respond quickly or if I called she would respond quickly. I am one of those who is very hard to please when finding a vacation rental as I worry about cleanliness and whether or not owners enforce strict rules about partying (as my family and I like it quiet and peaceful) and I HIGHLY recommend this rental to everyone. My family and I have been to Myrtle Beach many times before, but had never rented something at the North Myrtle Beach area -- now we know we have found the most beautiful and peaceful part of Myrtle Beach at Cherry Grove- -North Myrtle Beach Area at The Waves. We plan on staying at The Waves again.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Perfect size for two 'humans' and a dog, everything you need is there! The ocean view is lovely from your balcony. While it is an older building it is well maintained, and also pretty clean (we did vacuum someone else's dog hair & sand, but with carpet that's what happens...just glad to have OUR dog with US!!) Friendly atmosphere, nice beach area, close to everything. Only wish owners had compensated us for double booking our room to another couple after we had already paid for it far in advance. We opened the door to our condo and another couple was already there...they had just checked into OUR room an hour before we arrived...we waited in parking lot for 2 hrs. until mix up was fixed and another room was ready for us...NOT the room we had requested months earlier! We made the best of it, but felt we at least should have deserved an apology, a dinner on them....something. Barbara never did make amends. They just booked the room we paid for in advance twice when they saw they could rent it for considerably more money to another couple, and did it...leaving their other room empty for whichever of us arrived last. Pretty smart on their part! Just not very thoughtful. Our vacation turned out perfectly after that fateful arrival, but will probably rent from Jackie next time. Aside from owner's tricky booking style, it was a great stay, and fantastic place to vacation!!Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners, age 55+.

First of All #5 is the BOMB... what a wonderful villa... and our second stay at the Waves was even better than the first and only the second of MANY more trips... thanks Barb for your sweet thoughts of us and for suggesting #5 it is the absolute greatest... loved every part... the decor the new cabinets in the kitchen and bath and yes Lauren the GREAT cookware... but the selling point for me was the Lighthouse dishes... i love lighthouses... we had a GREAT time and LEX loved the beach again... very quiet and the beaches were wonderful... thanks again... you two are great and considered family... what a WONDERFUL villa...in Cherry Grove...Did you find this review helpful?
