Welcome to “ISLAND LIFE”, the PERFECT beach getaway on St. George Island! “ISLAND LIFE” is the ideal spot for families, couples, friends, or retirees. Our house is equipped with everything you’ll need to play the kids, have a romantic weekend, do some birdwatching, kayaking or fishing, relax & enjoy fun in the sun! Completely renovated in 06' & furnished with beautiful decor & comfortable beds!
“ISLAND LIFE” is located in the hammock on a large, private lot just 2 SHORT BLOCKS to the beautiful white, sandy GULF BEACH and only 1 BLOCK to the Apalachicola BAY with a PUBLIC ACCESS for KAYAK & CANOE LAUNCHING or FISHING. Paved BIKING or walking TRAIL is only 1 block away, with playground, Lighthouse, Visitor's Center, shops & restaurants nearby.
Inside are 3 bedrooms & 2 baths, TVs, DVD/VCR, HS INTERNET, open living, dining & well-equipped kitchen w/island bar. Outside you’ll find our outdoor shower is nice under the trees or the stars, plenty of parking, covered for 3 cars, and fish cleaning sink. The large screened porch is great with fans & a swing - great for a break from the sun. Downstairs are washer & dryer & storage with sand toys, floats, & beach chairs for guests (subject to last guest leaving in same condition.) Lots of hooks throughout the house for towels, swim suits & beach gear.
We like to keep some staple items on hand, such as: sugar, ketchup, pancake syrup, butter, laundry soap, dish soap, mayo, spices, etc. - unlike corporate rentals. So, less "little things" for you to buy or bring. We simply ask our guests that if they use up the last of something, that they please replace it for the next guests. (Toilet tissue, paper towels & bath soaps are provided by our housekeeper.)

St. George Island in Florida's "Forgotten Coast" is truly a hidden treasure in the panhandle of Florida. Lovely, clean white, sandy beaches, never crowded, wonderful weather year 'round, plenty to do & see, no high rise hotels, almost all private single family homes on large lots, breathtaking views, plenty of wildlife, great laid back, friendly place to relax & enjoy good company, good food & good times!
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage
Our house sits alone with few others nearby. It's peaceful and relaxing especially on the large screened porch swing. We selected our house because it has one of the prettiest lots and is located at one of the narrowest points on St. George Island - only 2 short blocks to the beach or a 1 block walk to the bay. We love to be able to relax in the shade of the trees in between time in the sun. We can still hear the surf and often see eagles soaring throught the trees.
Boardwalk over the dunes to the beautiful white, sandy beach is only a short 2 block walk down W. 9th Street.
Small bay access area for public fishing, launch of canoe or kayak. Walk over to oyster shell driveway just to left of end of 9th St. West.
Wide, paved trail runs from the Plantation on the West End all the way through the small downtown park, shopping area, to the East End and the beautiful St. George Island State Park.
Quaint downtown area about 8 blocks from the house with restored St. George Lighthouse & caretakers cottage, Visitor's Center, playground, beach shops & restaurants.
Take the bridge back over & left across the Apalachicola Bay bridge to visit the shops, galleries, excellent restaurants, & historic sites, homes, museums & churches of Apalachicola. Don't miss this!
Great locally owned small grocery has everything you'll need! Including excellent fresh local seafood and great meats.
