Keywords: Log Cabin (480 square feet)
TOTALLY PRIVATE!!! Our 85-acre parcel of land located in northern Dutchess County offers a variety of terrain for exploring - woods, streams, meadows, and even a gorge.
The log cabin, on the shore of our privately owned three and one-half acre lake, is the only dwelling on the lake. The closest neighbor to it is close to 1/4 mile away.
A large, stone fireplace and a picture window overlooking the lake are the special features of the cabin as well as the covered front porch with hanging chairs and redwood sofa and chairs. Sleep on a queen sized sofa bed in our large living room. There are also chairs and hammocks hanging outside from a number of trees.
Outdoor cooking is made pleasurable with your choice of a gas grill or a stone charcoal barbecue, and dining is done on a large picnic table sitting on a fieldstone patio or on a picnic table at the dock area. You can also dine inside in front of the picture window, if you prefer. A herb garden (in season) offers a choice of 12 different herbs to use in your cooking!
Outdoor lighting is extensive if you desire it. We prefer the stars and moonlight reflecting off the lake!

We spent Memorial Day weekend 2010 at this private getaway and couldn't have been more pleased. The scenery is beautiful, and the privacy makes this the perfect couples paradise. Half of the things we packed we didn't need because they were provided in the cabin. Such as any spice you could think of for cooking, foil, paper towels, linens, bath towels, even q-tips, shaving cream, and much more! Upon arrival there were ice cream sundaes waiting for us which were so thoughtful and not to mention delicious! The boats provided were wonderful for fishing and enjoying the lake, and the grills (gas and charcoal) were great as well! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this romantic cabin :)

We just returned from our third annual trip to this beautiful cabin. We have returned to this cabin for the last three years because we find it to be the perfect place to relax and get away for a few days. The cabin itself has a very cozy feel and a wood-burning fireplace. The grounds and cabin are very well kept and the owners have clearly put a lot of thought into the place. On top of that, the owners are extremely nice and very easy to work with. The surrounding woods have nice trails in them for romantic walks and are filled with a variety of birds. The lake provides an excellent place to catch fish. I would recommend this place to anybody who is looking for a quiet, peaceful, and romantic get away.

We've been visiting this wonderful cabin for 6 years and each time we arrive, we want to extend our stay. From the moment we pass through the property gates and make our way to the cabin itself, we leave the stress of the outside world behind. The property overlooks its own 3.5 acre pond sorrounded by woodland. If we're visiting during the summer,we swim in the pond, or take out the rowing boat to view the turtles at the waters edge, or the deer in the woodland. If it's fall or winter we sit on the porch swings and wrap ourselves in one of the many warm blankets provided, before heading indoors to a blazing fire. The log cabin is very comfortable, with plenty of fresh towels and linen. For a cozy evening, there's lots of firewood provided and if you can tear yourself away from pond and woodland, the owners have left a large selection of classic DVDs to enjoy. If you like eating outdoors, there's a choice of dining beside the lake or using the family table beside the cabin. The only other choice is whether to cook on the gas BBQ or the brick built coal BBQ. Of course indoors, there's a fully functioning kitchen with all the pots and pans a cook could need. On the opposite side of the cabin to the lake is an expance of lawn which leads you into the woods. It's a perfect place for pitching or batting practice. In the early morning or evening it's the perfect place to see the wild turkeys and deer coming to feed. This owners are very kind. There's always a frozen homemade desert in the freezer as a welcoming gift. Any bit of information about restaurants etc can be found in the information pack provided. And if you can't find it the there, the owners are just a phone call away. We always arrive wondering which hammock to try first and leave wondering when can we next make it back. A wonderful, peaceful haven !

stayed there summer 2009 for a weekend. very nice location. very quiet. inside, the place needed dusting. outside the pond was overrun w/ algae, not very pretty. but, the linens and bathroom and kitchen were clean. could use some updating. the owners were nice.
Owner response:In the 9 years we have been renting our cabin we have never had a complaint about cleanliness but possibly our cleaning service did not do a good job in dusting for this guest! It is a natural and almost annual process for lakes to purge themselves and during this period of a few days the lake indeed is “not very pretty” but it is a normal process that we have no control over. After this purge cycle the lake becomes crystal clear. For approximately 360 days of the year our lake is clear without any algae. It is stocked with sterile carp to keep the weeds down and they do an excellent job but they cannot control the annual purge cycle which is a purifying and healthy, natural process. The lake was stocked many years ago with large mouth bass and they have multiplied profusely making for excellent fishing. Our 3.5 acre lake is enjoyed by the following: the fish mentioned above in addition to sunnies and other varieties of lake fish, heron, geese, king fishers, ducks, and many other birdsincluding migrating birds, a variety of turtles, frogs, beavers, muskrats, deer, turkeys, rabbits, coyotes, and an occassional bear. They all like it and they like the fact that they only have to share "their" lake with no more than 2 guests at a time!

-Stuff we love about the cabin: The flat lawn by David's Park - a very spiritual place; the pairs of chairs everywhere for star gazing, lake gazing, tree gazing; the swings on the porch; the lack of noise, cars, people; the extremely well equipped kitchen...MW & JM -We loved the beauty, peacefulness and serenity of this comfortable abode. Learn the strength and feel of the wind by the tones of the wind chimes. We can only leave by somehow plotting our return in the future... ER & PA -A peaceful place that provided the ultimate escape from reality for us. This place is not easy to leave but it is reassuring to know that it exists and that other lovers will have an opportunity to experience some of what we enjoyed. A hen turkey, a deer, a hummingburd, and two great blue heron helped welcome us... R & J We were looking for peace, quiet and a place to collect our souls and clear our minds. And we sure found all of that here...K & ES -Thanks for the opoportunity to escape from the everyday...M & JK -An escape from the world. Seclusion, quiet, and peacefulness was a lovely break from the city. Lake and rowboat were the most perfect added perks...D & EG
