This cabin is the perfect escape from work and home. Idyllwild is a beautiful area with friendly locals and this cabin is cozy, yet modern, and spacious enough for our dog. The cabin was clean, the jacuzzi was relaxing, and the fireplace kept the home very warm. This cabin is also close enough to walk into town as well as hiking trails, so once we got to the cabin we really didn't need to drive again until the weekend was over. The owner of the cabin was very friendly and accommodating to us. We highly recommend staying at this property!

Perfect getaway for 2 plus dog

We just spent the past weekend in this newly remodeled cabin and we're already looking to see when we can return again. The kitchen has everything you could need, the bathroom was spotless and the bed was comfy. Most importantly, during the hot afternoons we could create a nice cross breeze and there was no need for the a/c: but it's there if you need it. And... the best part of the cabin is on the outside - super fantastic jacuzzi. If you're looking for a quick getaway from the LA work week, this is the place to unwind and gaze at the stars. I'm sure you could also have a great outdoor sport weekend and we had every intention of doing so; until we got way too comfortable and just relaxed all weekend.

Relaxing getaway!

The cabin was everything we had hoped for; quiet, peaceful, relaxing and excellent for pets (completely fenced). Everything was clean and well-maintained. Max was great about a small problem that came up and took care of it immediately. The dogs never had so much fun just exploring and running around the extra large property (they only have a small yard at home). Idyllwild is a quiet community and we have stayed there before because we like that so we didn't do much this time except check out a different restaurant every night! We enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub and just laying around reading or watching movies (things that are hard to make time for at home). Thanks Max for a relaxing few days and we hope to be back soon!

Great Property!...Love the hot tub

We stayed here this past weekend and had a fabulous time. The villa is stocked with everything you may need including cooking spices and oils. We spent many hours soaking in the hot tub and listening to music. Perfect for day or night use. It is about a 1/2 mile walk to Cafe Aroma and other great restaurants. I am already trying to figure out when I can find another weekend to rent the villa again. The owner is quick to respond to inquiries. Yard seems very well suited for a dog.

Just what we needed for a relaxing, fun filled anniversary getaway

My husband and I stayed 2 nights for our anniversary. The cabin was perfect!!! Nice sized 1 bed, 1 bath. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook. Lots of pots, pans, dishes, silverware, etc. It was nice to be able to stay in and make dinner. We loved the fireplace and had a fire both nights. The Jacuzzi was heaven after a long hike. Even the bed was super comfy, We will be back!

Fantastic Getaway!

This cabin is a great place to get away from it all and relax. Sitting in the spa at night, enjoying the starry night was unreal. We've stayed in other cabins in Idyllwild and this one beats them all! The walk to town isn't too bad, the walk back is up hill, but nice after a great lunch. Max (the owner) is very nice to work with and answers all your questions.

We checked in (one couple) in January 2011- Everything was clean, fresh, and exactly as described. The location is amazing- a great walk to town (even for me...I'm lazy!) and still private enough. The hot tub is top of the line- built in music, multiple jet settings, and gets nice and hot. For someone who loves the mountains but don't necessarily like the rustic A-frame cabins, this is a GREAT option. I wish we brought our dog, the yard and snow would have been perfect! Also- we had only a 2-wheel-drive sedan and the drive/roads/parking were more than adequate. I have been to Idyllwild before- and this is BY FAR the best value for a hot tub cabin, and Max (owner) is great and easy to work with. Can't wait to come back!

Extremely relaxing atmosphere

I would recommend this property for its location, and quietness. The property is clean and makes you feel at home. Our 15 month old loved this place, so did our dogs. The moment we closed the front gates, the dogs felt at home, of course lot to explore early on but settled quickly. Everything mentioned on the property listing exists and functioning. The owner was very helpful.

My husband and I enjoyed a 3 night stay at this cozy lil cabin. Right when we walked in the door we felt at home...it was extremely clean, cozy, and the jacuzzi was absolutely wonderful!! the kitchen had everything you could possibly need, and the bed was cushiony soft. I just cannot say enough good things about this property and its owner...outstanding customer service! we will DEFINITELY be back in the near future.

This vacation property was perfect! My husband and I spent Christmas here with our two dogs and were pleased with everything. The cabin is small and cute, perfect for a couple looking to get away. The house has everything we could have asked for, from a Jacuzzi under the stars, to a kitchen full of gadgets, to a wood-burning fireplace. The home is located within walking distance to town, where you can enjoy the local shops and restaurants amid the beautiful mountain scenery. Not only is this place perfect for a couple looking to relax, but it is a wonderful place for those looking for some outdoor adventure. We hiked two 5-mile trails, both of which I would highly recommend for those looking to hike with dogs. The Ernie Maxwell trail at Humber Park (elevation 6400 feet), was an easy snow-covered trail that offered amazing views. The Webster trail, 3 miles past Idyllwild (elevation 5400 feet, descending down 2000 feet into the valley), is a bit more strenuous, but completely worth it. Accessing the trailhead is a bit tricky, so I would recommend a 4-wheel drive vehicle. All in all, this place is great for those who want to travel with their pets. Having the fenced yard was a blessing and we were happy to be able to let the dogs run around outside without worrying.

After a recent visit to this cozy villa, we have fallen in love with it! We arrived mid-morning to find freshly fallen snow everywhere. It was a nice surprise to see the well-built fence surrounding the cabin since we brought our dog. The wrap around deck was so nice and fully equipped with a new, steaming hot tub ready for us to jump in. We did just that. Wasting no time, we threw on our bathingsuits and sat in the hot tub all afternoon. It was like something out of a story book! Who would have thought that with just a couple hours drive from LA, that we'd be sitting in a hot tub with snow falling all around us just a few hours later? We stayed here all afternoon, then warmed up by the fire (plenty of firewood is provided) and set out on a trek around the neighborhood. Once again, it was something out of a book! Each house is uniquely different yet beautiful. It was just a couple miles walk and we were up on a mountain looking out over all of the other snowy mtns. So gorgeous, I don't think my camera ever got tired of taking pictures. For dinner, we went into Idyllwild to a restaurant with delicious food and we were back to the cabin for a few more hours of hot tub!! Although we were only able to spend one night (trust me, if our schedule would have allowed for it, we would have stayed a week!), we enjoyed every second of it and so did our dog!!! She loved being outside in the snow sniffing around and us not having to worry about her getting loose. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that the cabin showed no previous use by an animal of any sort....in fact, it was immaculate! No odors or left over dog hairs anywhere. Impressive to say the least!! I highly recommend this place to anyone, including pets...we will be back soon!!

This cabin was perfect for a romantic winter weekend. The property had everything you needed to be comfortable including a queen sized bed, heaters, fully stocked kitchen, washer and dryer and entertainment center. The jacuzzi was fantastic - during the day you have a view of the snow covered mountains/trees and at night a perfect view of the stars. The cabin was perfect for a couple and dog but may be a little tight for more people. I recommend this property.

We went up here for a snowy weekend earlier this month, and it was beyond our expectations! Modern yet still cozy, we were surprised to find the kitchen and bathrooms more than well-stocked - so if you forgot it, chances are it will already be here. (The outdoor hot tub alone is worth the trip.) We will DEFINITELY be back!

I have been teaching for the Idyllwild Arts summer program for nine years, and the MAX HOUSE Villa has certainly made this summer relaxing and comfortable. The deck and the hot tub are the icing on the cake of this charming cabin. I would highly recommend choosing the MAX HOUSE for your next vacation, summer or winter!

My wife and I and a friend stayed here during Idyllwild Arts' family camp week this past week (July 08). (We teach at the camp.) It's a beautiful house, with completely modern furnishings, a comfortable double bed -- and a great, new, top-of-the-line jacuzzi. It's not a huge house, and I wouldn't recommend it for a big family, but the three of us were very comfortable. (Our friend slept very comfortably on the couch.) It's definitely a space you want to hang out in. I'd say it's perfect for a couple trying to have a romantic get-away. (Or a writer trying to get some solitude/space to work.) It's also conveniently close to Humbert Park (Devil's Slide trail). It was also very nice having internet access and free long distance phone service. Enjoy!
