Six years ago I fell in love with Hawaii. Now my dream of having a home there is a reality. Since my husband and I don't plan to live there year round, we can share our beautiful home with you. Our ground floor home is one of only 114 units at the Pohailani Maui Complex located at 4435 L. Honoapiilani Road, Lahaina, HI, 96761. The condos in the complex are set up in twos, a ground floor unit and an upstairs unit. The units are arranged in a graceful oval surrounding a large garden area with two swimming pools, palms, other tropical trees and exotic flowers. A barbecue grill is right outside the sliding glass doors of our living room. There is a sense of peace and privacy that is not there in the large resorts.
When you arrive from the Kahului airport, you will have everything you need for a luxurious, restful and eco-friendly stay - a comfortable couch, chairs and beds, every possible kitchen appliance and utensil, soft, fluffy, organic cloth towels and linens, cable HDTV, a CD/DVD player and high speed internet access. If you want to get away from technology, you can just sit on the lana'i (Hawaiian for patio/porch) and enjoy the lush tropical scenery, walk over to one of the two swimming pools or the tennis court, or better yet, walk across the road and behold breathtaking Kahana beach. In the back yard you can pick a mango while you grill your dinner. In the condo, you will find beach towels, beach chairs, boogie boards, a cooler, tennis racquets and balls,nand sand toys. If you're not used to the sun, or even if you are, please remember to use plenty of sun screen!
A three ring binder on the coffee table is filled with brochures of local restaurants, shops and all the fabulous attractions of Maui. You will certainly want to sample the exquisite cuisine of Maui's restaurants, but when you want to stay home and relax, you can find a grocery store near, fix your own meal and eat at the kitchen bar or on the lana'i surrounded by palms and flowering trees. Do you have kids that always finish eating before you're ready to leave the table? Just get out the toys stored in the outdoor closet. The kids can play on the flat area just next to your lana'i. When you're ready to call it a day, fill the jacuzzi tub and soak away all the stress you brought with you from the mainland. You're in Paradise!
Would you rather have one of 382, more or less, almost identical condos, maybe on the 8th floor at the end of the hall or would you rather have one of 114 free standing units shared with only one other condo (above you) surrounded by, not other rooms, but lush gardens you can step into from your lana'i. If you would prefer the latter, you are lucky because this type is actually less expensive to rent than a "one among 382, 8th floor" type. I don't know why, but the large hotel type condo complexes are more expensive to rent and to buy which is why we bought this one. Many of your neighbors will be Hawaii residents and you won't be one among hundreds of tourists. Of course if you want to be among the tourists, you can pay a lot more and be part of the crowd. I hope you choose to share our home on Maui, the Valley Isle. You won't regret it.

- We have put in all new furniture, decorations, utensils, supplies and will endeavor to make them all environmentally friendly. That is a priority with us.
- Suitability
- No Pets Allowed : The Home Owners' Association does not allow pets except for 1 or 2 small cats. I don't know any one who travels with a cat.
- Handicapped Accessible (may have limitations) : The condo is ground level with only one small step at the entrance. There are suction cup safety bars in the tub/shower. They help a person balance while stepping in or out of the tub but will not bear a person's complete weight. There is a bath tub bench.
- Kid Friendly : We love kids and bought this condo with our grandchildren in mind. Large play area in view of the living room and lana'i. Toys and games for various ages including sand toys and snorkeling gear. Children must be supervised by an adult at the pools and tennis court. We can help you arrange for inexpensive rental of crib, highchair, stroller etc.
- Minimum Age Limit for Renters : We like to limit renters to 25 years old and up but will make exceptions if you can assure us of your reliability. A deposit may be required of high school and college students. We love young people but some have ruined it for the rest.
- Smoking Not Allowed : This is a non-smoking home. You may smoke on the lanai with the sliding door shut to avoid smoke wafting into the condo.

Why the Owner Chose Kahana
We looked at many areas on Maui before choosing this condo at Pohailani Maui in Kahana. We chose it because it is near Lahaina, the most popular town for visitors to Maui and because it was the nicest, most well appointed and well kept-up condo of the many that we looked at. We also liked the fact that it is in a complex that is at least half owner occupied - really nice people. It was less expensive to buy than the condos in the condo high rises so we are able to charge less to rent it. The beach across the road is wonderful and it is a very short drive to Fleming Beach, named #1 beach in the US in 2006 and to the beach at the Kaanapali resorts which also has world class golf courses and Whaler's Village, a tempting shopping destination. A great restaurant, Roy's Hawaiian Fusion, and a cute coffee shop, Hawaiian Coffee Company are a short walk from the condo. There are two dive shops and a sports center with a gym, massage center and yoga classes also a short walk away. If you want to plan a gathering, such as a wedding reception, our newly redecorated recreation room can be rented for a reasonable amount.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
Our condo was furnished and decorated with the environment and the comfort of our guests in mind. We encourage energy saving by using fans and cross ventilation - although there is air conditioning in the bedrooms for those occasional sultry tropical nights. We recycle aluminum, glass and plastic. We have a water filter on the kitchen sink and a chlorine filter on the shower. Our sheets are organic cotton and our bathroom towels are made of bamboo fiber which is wonderfully soft and, by its nature, resistant to bacteria and mold growth. Our shower curtain is natural fiber, to avoid the off-gassing of toxic materials contained in vinyl shower curtains. Our Home Owners Association is considering the installation of solar panels for hot water heating and, perhaps, generation of electricity. We look forward to that.
Beautiful cinnamon sand beach. Almost always calm due to a coral reef off shore. Enter through the Royal Kahana Hotel. There are no private beaches in Hawaii but sometimes the resorts get the best locations. We're lucky to be across the street from the Royal Kahana.
This is our condo complex. Our condo is on the other side of the road from the beach, a two or three minute walk - access through the Royal Kahana Condo Hotel
there is a gas station here if you should need it. There is also a McDonald's (hope you don't need that). Roy's Hawaiian Fusion, (very upscale restaurant), Hawaiian Coffee Shop (good croissant sandwiches).
Napili market for groceries - lots of shops including a craft shop and a flower shop - both interesting and pretty.

Nice grocery store about a 5 minute drive down the Lower Road or you could walk if you don't plan on buying a lot of groceries. There is a fresh sea food market near on the same street. P.S. The Lower Road is Lower Honoapiilani Road. See why they call it The Lower Road?
Wonderful health club. They have Yoga, Pilates, cardio and fitness classes; weight training and fitness equipment and for the kids, kid's dance, kid's martial arts and, for you, child care.

I fell in love with Maui and, in 2007, we bought a condo in Kahana. We love spending time there and we love sharing it with our guests. California weather is nice but there is something magical about Maui.

We stayed in Patti's condo for a week in May. This condo was just what I had had in mind for us when I was planning our Maui trip. What I did not want was a condo in one of the high rises right by the beach with just a balcony. I wanted my 3-year old to be able to safely run around outside. We found everything we were looking for in Patti's condo. The price was incredibly reasonable. The complex is very enclosed and perfect for kids. Our daughter made friends with the neighbors' children on the first day. Her favorite time of the day was playing in the big open area behind the lanai and the condo with her new friends. The condo had everything we were looking for. It was clean, the beds were comfortable, there was enough space for us five adults and a child. We found everything we needed for the beach and more in the outdoor storage cabinet. Communication with Patti, the owner, worked excellently by email. She was very quick to reply and made sure we had a good stay. We would definitely return to this place, I hope sooner rather than later. Mahalo!

We started off our stay in the Green Condo on Christmas Day 2010. We were impressed as soon as we opened the door. When we got back from checking out the local beaches, one of my kids went to take a shower but there was no hot water. At that same time, Patti called to tell me that her cleaners had just informed her that the hot water was out. Since it was Christmas, there wasn't any way to get this fixed. Patti had a plumber come out the following day (special Sunday service). The plumbing company sent out an incompetent plumber but Patti was eventually able request a competent plumber who came out and installed a brand new water heater, but that was 4 days into our trip. That same day, Patti offered to get us passes to a local athletic club if the problem persisted. If it weren't for this water heater problem which was pretty much out of the owner's hands, my rating would have been 5 stars. Side note: I wouldn't recommend that plumbing company. The good news is others shouldn't have to worry about this for another 10 years!! Patti did refund us some for the inconvenience which we appreciated. There were six of us who stayed - my wife & I and our 4 mostly grown up kids. It was fairly cramped at bed time when we pulled out the sofa bed, but otherwise there was ample space. The beds were comfortable and it was nice to be able to have A/C to get to sleep. The remodeled kitchen was very nice with a full-size fridge & dishwasher. There weren't enough bowls to go around however - but definitely enough plates, glasses & silverware. We grilled out in the back yard nearly every night which was awesome. We found the lanai to be a bit small for the size table that is out there - there wasn't enough room to sit on one side without the chairs being off the concrete and on the grass which was a few inches lower. Nice view for sure though!! If you're staying at the condo, make sure you look at all the stuff in the cabinet out on the lanai. We used the cooler every day at the beaches. We also used the boogie boards (we also bought 3 additional ones which we left there). What we didn't really notice until we were putting everything back on our last day were some nice beach mats. The condo isn't on a beach & isn't within walking distance of any beach we preferred. We didn't spend more than one day at any beach so I'm not sure staying on any beach is all that beneficial. There are good beaches to the north, and even better to the south.

We stayed in Patti's condo for a month and we found it exactly as advertised. The location is close to the beach and within minutes of Lahaina. During our stay, we visited many parts of the island and we could get everywhere easily. Patti was very attentive about answering our questions and she communicated with us by e-mail very quickly. We also appreciated the cleanliness of the condo and having a kitchen as well as the BBQ area which we used practically every day. It was very nice to be able to walk to the small shopping area as well as having a major groceries store within a few minutes drive. If you like golfing and snorkleling, this is a great location to use as your base. Some of the most beautiful golf courses are within 10 minutes drive and the snorkeling off Kaanapali beach is among the best. Thank you Patti for making sure that we would have a very good stay.

So clean, so convenient. A kitchen any chef would want, and eating outside watching the birds (which are not annoying) was perfect. We were only two, but extra persons in the additional bedroom would not be crowded at all. There was a terrific downpour one day, all day. So we just went up to video store near the Times, rented movies, and snuggled in to our cozy condo. We were going to grab take-out at the neighborhood (walking distance) China ??? But the ambiance there was just right for a rainy evening, so we ate there. Really nice, homey condo.

This place was great! All of amenities we were looking for and the location was close to many things. The laundry and kitchen proved to be the biggest assets with a little guy in tow.(15 months) There was a large grassy area for him to play in and it felt like we were just part of the community of residents. Juan was very responsive when we had questions or concerns. Our only issue was the parking lot being repaved during our stay which made for quite a trek to get to our cars. Obviously this was a unique situation, but the only thing that made it less than excellent. All in all, we would definitely stay again and feel like we got great value for the price. Thanks Juan and Patti for making our stay so comfortable!

We stayed at this condo over Thanksgiving and had a wonderful time! The unit was very nice& we were very impressed by the updated kitchen! The condo is in a great area and provided us the opportunity to walk across the street to access the beach. The upstairs neighbors were a little loud ( not sure if they realized we were downstairs!) but overall, our stay at the condo was ideal and we would definitely come back on our next trip to Maui!

This was the perfect condo for us -- within minutes my two kids were off playing with all the neighbor kids in the big grassy, beautifully maintained common yard. The complex was like a park, and we loved the pools as well. The condo had everything we needed -- boogie boards, snorkels, towels etc. etc. Plus the kitchen was great and enabled us to eat breakfast and dinner in most of the time. The owners are very helpful and responsive. This location is about 10 minutes north of Lahaina, for easy access to town, shopping, restaurants, and various beaches in the area. The complex was completely silent at night. I can't wait to go back!

We had a wonderful stay. Not right on the beach, but close enough to walk. Extremely friendly neighbors but the parking is a little confusing. Owners were wonderful to work with. Great for a family with small children ( we didn't have any in our party but with the lawn it would be awesome!) Came with great cabinet of beach toys and lawn chairs. Very Clean....

We had a fantastic time at this condo. We couldn't have asked for a better location. We were close to everything. And the kitchen is fantastic.The pictures don't really do it justice. I appreciate that recycling is encouraged and that the bathroom is stocked with the greatest bamboo towels! The washer and dryer was a huge plus also as it saved me from doing a ton of laundry when I got home! The condo was peaceful and relaxing and the rental process was a breeze. Thanks Patricia for sharing your lovely home with us. We would definitely recommend this place and will defintely stay with you again when we return!
