The Pigeonnier du Puy.
Located one hour’s drive east of the Bordeaux the Pigeonnier du Puy sits on the edge of the Drot valley, 800 yards from the nearest main road. Behind the Pigeonnier run the vineyards of the Château des Tuillerries du Puy while the southern view looks out onto the bastide town of Monsegur, just two kilometres away.
The Pigeonnier is a three story high, fifteen foot by fifteen foot tower that was originally constructed to house pigeons. Though the pigeon waste was used to fertilise the fields pigeon towers were built predominantly for prestige. The Pigeonnier du Puy is attached to a converted barn that was used to make wine by a past owner.
The Pigeonnier and adjoining converted barn have been beautifully restored to allow for year around living and comfortable accommodations for four. An environmentally efficient subterranean heating system keeps house cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The Pigeonnier is also supported by wireless Internet.
The master bedroom with on suite bathroom has french doors that open eastward onto the lawn and fruit orchard.
The second bedroom with two single beds is located at the top of the Pigeonnier. It has stunning views east and west of sunrise and sunset.
At the top of the Pigeonnier is the second bedroom with two single beds. With east and west facing windows it offers stunning views of both sunrise and sunset.
The second bathroom and toilet are located on the second floor just below the second bedroom.
The Pigeonnier’s kitchen is fully equipped with dishware, microwave and washer dryer.
The Pigeonnier’s spacious dining / living room features an extraordinary fireplace, a ceiling that reaches fifteen feet in height and large french doors that open onto the patio and garden. In addition there is also a downstairs half bath.
The covered patio is the perfect place to have your meal at any time of the day. The garden is located just yards away from the vineyard of the Château de Tuilleries du Puy and a fruit orchard.
