The perfect retreat from the tourist zones of Paris, located on the Place Torcy, a few steps from the Metro station Marx Dormoy, on line 12, the apartment is only 10 minutes from Place de la Concord, the heart of Paris. The building overlooks leafy squares bordered by shops and restaurants, and a market street with the covered Marche de la Chappelle, fruit and vegetable stands, restaurants and cafes, bakeries, cheese shops, butchers, and flower shops. A public fountain in one square freely dispenses mineral water from the local deep "source".
The traditional brick and stone building, circa 1900, is built around a courtyard (with gardienne), and the apartment is on the French 2nd floor (U.S. 3rd floor - no elevator), overlooking the courtyard and an adjacent leafy square. There are moldings and French windows and refinished antique oak floors.
The new IKEA kitchen has a gas range, fridge, dishwasher, microwave, coffeemaker, and a fine collection of all the usual and necessary cookware and dishes. There is also a new heating and hot water system if ever it gets cool in Paris.
The cozy living room has an elegant sofa/daybed (75 by 33 inch mattress) - perfect for a third person - a dining table and chairs, an armchair and fall-front desk, a large flat-screen tv mounted on the wall, dvd player, cable/dsl/unlimited free phone calls to the US, and a large selection of European dvds.
The comfortable bedroom has a new 160x200cm bed (2 inches wider than a U.S. queen, 2 inches shorter), nightstand, reading lamp, chest of drawers, and closet/hanging space, large dressing mirror, blow dryer, and laundry hamper bench. Linens and bedding are all first quality.
The updated white bathroom has a wc, pedestal sink, shower, and new washer/dryer. The apartment is immaculate, well laid-out, and the arrangements are well thought out in order to fit all this easy living into a pleasing 35 square meters (about 400 square feet).
