WELCOME TO CASA SANDIA
For a week or for a month, you’ll find a stylish retreat at our house, Casa Sandia, located in the Torrey Pines Section of Tanoan West, a gated community in North East Albuquerque near the Sandia mountains.
Centrally located in Albuquerque, with views of the Sandia Mountains from front windows and the master bedroom balcony, Casa Sandia provides serenity, comfort, and convenience for its guests.
This 2500 square foot home has all of the charm characteristic of southwestern adobe architecture, with stucco walls, saltillo tiled floors, and curved walls and niches. The garage faces the street and the entrance sidewalk winds around the side of the house through a tourqouise gate to the main entrance. The curving walls, abundant windows and skylights fill the house with southwestern sunlight and blue skies.
The generous living and dining areas are furnished for comfort and style. The gas fireplace warms cool evenings, and the table and chairs, handmade in Corrales, provide a place for gatherings of friends and family for dining or board games. A CD player and a TV with a DVD player, allow for family music or movie time. Board games and books beckon as a means of passing the time. The adjacent library provides a sanctuary for reading or a quiet nap on the comfortable couch.
The kitchen, adjacent to the living and dining areas, has been stocked with all the cooking implements — small appliances, cookware, pots, dishes and glasses — that are required by someone who really likes to cook. Your guests can sidle up to the counter on a stool and visit while dinner is being prepared.
There is a generously sized laundry room with washer, dryer, ironing board and iron, as well as a full bath on the first floor for your convenience.
Look for the paw prints of coyotes in the Saltillo tile in the hallway, laundry room, and kitchen floors, made while the tiles were drying outdoors in Mexico.
A curving staircase rises from the center hall to an open second floor hall, flooded with light from a skylight and large picture window, which lead you to the master bed and bath, two additional guest rooms and a full bath.
The master bedroom is on the second floor, with its own queen size bed, walk out balcony with a stunning, close-up view of the Sandia mountains. The attached, light filled large master bathroom boasts a skylight and large window. There is a shower, Jacuzzi tub (with a view of the Sandia mountains), double sink and walk-in closet. No complaint of cramped quarters can be lodged here. Greet the morning with views of the Sandia Mountains from the master bedroom balcony.
Two additional guests rooms and a full bath also are on the second floor. There is a king bed and TV in one guest room which also has its own walk out balcony overlooking the garden. The other guest room has two single beds and a view of the garden.
The patio and garden surrounded by a stucco wall with grapevines, provide a cool resting place in private surroundings, away from the cares of the day. A gas grill is provided for your enjoyment; humming birds visit for your entertainment.
Casa Sandia is about 15 minutes from the airport; from Old Town Albuquerque with its charming shops and restaurants; from Central Avenue (Old Route 66 and the Nob Hill area) with the University of New Mexico, shops and many restaurants. The Sandia Mountains and the Tramway to the top is only 5 minutes from the house. Across the street is the open arroyo land of the Albuquerque Academy where hikers and birdwatchers are welcome. Restaurants, shops and stores abound within 5 minutes of the house, including a Whole Foods, Smith's grocery, Starbucks, Einstein Bagel, and Walmart.
We rent by the week, even if you only stay a few days. Even though our calendar may look empty, this does not mean the dates are available, since we do not book our calendar until we have a signed contract, and sometimes we have booked maintenance and repair.

My 4 siblings and I had a wonderful week vacation in this lovely Southwest decorated home. It was beautifully and comfortably furnished...even the lovely patio and backyard. The owner provided us with many recommendations for activities and restaurants. I would highly recommend this property and the city of Albuquerque as a fantastic vacation destination.

My husband & I just returned yesterday from a week staying at Casa Sandia. This home is absolutely beautiful! It was everything as described and more! The home is furnished beautifully, the attention to detail and art work is awesome! We had absolutely no issues during our stay. The kitchen and baths were well stocked. The owner was helpful in answering questions and facilitating the rental aggreement. The location of the home is in a very nice upscale area of Albuquerque and was very easy to navigate. We enjoyed bike riding, hiking, Old Town, Casa Redona Winery, Santa Fe, mission churches, great New Mexican resturants, etc. We enjoyed ourselves tremendously and would recommend this home, except I agree with an earlier post, the secret is out........if we have the oppertunity we would stay again in a heartbeat! Thank you for a delightful week!

We spent a wonderful week in this lovely home. The community is very upscale, the enclosed back yard is beautifully landscaped, and the interior of the home is like new with beautiful furniture and art work. The location is convenient for the Balloon Festival, which we attended, and for shopping. We will certainly stay here again on our next trip to Albuquerque.

This was our third time to rent this property. It is just beautiful... so welcoming. The pictures on vrbo are wonderful but still don't do justice to the home. It is absolutely beautiful. The owners are delightful to work with and always want to make sure everything is at it's best for their guests. The kitchen is very well equipped. While in a gated community it feels very private. We just love staying her!!! T

It is not often that something is better than advertised but that is the case with this home. We have stayed in it twice over the last two years and have another visit scheduled. The great experience starts with the owners. They are easy to work with and have the rental process down. Though we have never met and never talked on the phone the agreement has been seamless working through e-mai. As I said earlier, as beautiful as this home is in the listing, it is even more outstanding in real life. We are in awe each time we go. It is beautifully appointed with art and paintings adding to beautifully decorated rooms. The furniture is so nice and so comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and a joy to work in The patio is a draw and the view is great. The manager for the property is a delightful man who is so accomodating and helpful. My only reservation in writing this review is that others will find out what a treasure this is and it will be more difficult to rent. We have rented many times off of vrbo - all so nice but this is at the top of the list!!!

We stayed at Casa Sandia for a week and really enjoyed the spacious rooms and all of the beautiful decor. Two large decks on the upper floor. Master bedroom overlooing the Sandia Mountains was breathtaking. We recommend this house. We loved the lion water fountain and the cozy outdoor patio. We plan to return again.

Nice house in a nice residential area, but unfortunately there were several problems, including a significant ant problem, especially in the kitchen and dining area. But our largest complaint is this: We needed a place for 1 to 2 months and the landlady had agreed to this, but after 1 month she suddenly asked us to leave early, putting us in an extremely difficult position, apparently because we had politely suggested that she might consider lowering our remaining rent in order to partially compensate us for the inconveniences we had experienced. We didn't insist, we just made the suggestion and hoped she'd want to make amends for the fact we'd had a much less enjoyable experience than we had expected for the rent we were paying. Every problem we had there was addressed quickly, but for the rent we were paying we had expected to have far less interaction with her maintenance people. Ants, malfunctioning fireplace, dryer vent unattached from dryer, shower door fell off, garage door broke, all in a couple of weeks. Now, as I told her, these problems will happen, and it was unlucky that they all happened during our short visit, but we still felt she might want to make some effort to apologize or compensate us by lowering our rent. Instead she asked us to leave, which was extremely difficult for us to do, but we didn't want to stay if we were not welcome. I would not recommend this property to a friend, mainly due to the irrational behavior of the owners who backed out on our written rental agreement. But also, because you won't know if the ant infestation is still there until you arrive. The ants are very annoying.
Owner response:EVICTED FOR VIOLATION LEASE AND DAMAGING HOUSE: After many rentals to many happy visitors, these were the only tenants (and they were local tenants who owned a home in the area), in five years that lost their substantial security deposit due to the damage caused at the property, including gouging the wall of the bathtub and smashing the shower door, and storing boxes of their belongings, unknown to us, from their local home throughout our house, which caused the pest infestation, that we then had to pay to eradicate. The tenants were asked to leave at the end of their lease term and we refused to extend the term or enter into another lease, due to the damage to the property. These tenants also refused to vacate at the end of the lease and we had to threaten legal action. We have since that time, changed our policies and do not rent to local tenants seeking short term housing solutions due to problems with their own homes, since we have discovered those tenants often bring their problems with them to our home. We have restored and redone the damaged bathroom and vacationing or visiting guests will find a charming, well kept and very clean house.
