My husband and I (and our 2 dogs) stayed at Good Haven for a week. We didn't want to leave! The house has a wonderful view of the Bay. We saw dolphins from the deck and pier a few times - so cool! We also saw herons, owls, osprey, and pelicans, just to name a few of the birds that frequent the area. It is also so convenient and easy to get to the beach too - just a short drive away to so many beautiful beaches. We had fun riding our bikes in the area also. Good Haven = great vacation spot for us!
Owner response:Elizabeth, Thank you so much for the lovely review! You love the same things we do about Good Haven House. I'm thrilled you saw the dolphins. There's a pod that comes through Perdido Bay every day hunting for their dinner and the last time we were at the house we didn't see them. I was so worried that they had been harmed or driven away by the oil spill. I'm relieved by your report, they're like part of the family! We hope you'll come and stay with us often. Thanks again, Susan

Dear Susan, Thank you so much for opening your warm and friendly home to us. It was so relaxing! We felt so at home here. The beds were cozy and furniture comfy. And for anyone else wanting pizza to be delivered, Lillian's is the only place that delivers. It was delicious! Looking forward to coming again.

We have enjoyed our stay at Good Haven House. Thank you for the tables. One had a 750 piece puzzle of fish being solved. The other had numerous domino games, spades, Phase 10, Sequence and Taboo being played (we're very competitive! :) ) The seafood has been great. We left some menus for future guests. Hope you can visit Columbiana, Alabama sometime. Thank you! Note: Eat at Trigger's - good gumbo!

Haven House was conveniently located near Pensacola where we could meet our friends and family for the holidays. The photos and descriptions accurately depicted this beautiful home which Susan had decorated for the holidays. Not only did we enjoy spending time around the fireplace , we also enjoyed watching sunsets and the lunar eclipse from the deck facing the bay. Susan was extremely helpful to make sure all of our needs were met during our visit. Everyone enjoyed their time including the children who found amply supply of books, videos, and games. Our holidays would not have been complete without being able to bring our dogs. We would recommend the Haven House to anyone looking for a homey place to stay anytime of year!

Our son and daughter-in-law's wedding on the beach was made more special by staying in your beach house. We had all of the comforts of home and the beauty of the bay to enjoy. Our guests were very impressed with your beautiful home and all of the personal touches it has. Thank you so very much. We had family and friends from Illinois, Kentucky, and Florida. My Husband and I are retired, and we spent a month last winter at Goodhaven House. It was our first trip there and it was the most relaxing, peaceful and comfortable vacation that we have ever had. The view of Perdido Bay over the well grassed lawn is incredible! There is a second floor deck that runs the length of the house and faces the Bay and the dock that stretches out into the Bay. We spent almost every morning having coffee, reading and visiting with one another while sitting on the back deck. This deck is accessible by the sliding doors in both the large master "en suite" bedroom and the Den/Livingroom. The kitchen has most any of thr utensisl, pots & pans, glassware and tableware that one might want to prepare food. The first time we went to the Orange Beach Coastal Area, we stayed in a high rise condo. Although it had a nice oceanview balcony, it was often so windy, and, frankly boring, to sit on for any length of time, that we outside for far less time than we were at Goodhaven House. . Also, all the ourdoor areas of the high rise complex were all concrete and very little green area in site. At Goodhaven House, the home is surrounded by tall pines and a lot of grassed areas. We have 2 pets, which are allowed for a nominal fee, and it was wonderful to have the large area to walk them, and us, too. Also, the ground floor of the house is a nice screened in area to also sit and visit and grill in. It was also reassuring to have an area like that to leave our dogs in when we went somewhere that they couldn't accompany us to. The beds were comfortable, the sheets, pillows and towels were soft and plentiful. In fact,we enjoyed ourselves so much that we have already reserved another month this year. It was kind of funny, that both my husband and I had an understanding as to why it was called "Goodhaven House" after only 1 night there. And, as the end of our vacation got closer, we both didn't want to leave because of the peaceful and relaxing time we had there. I would recommend this homer to anyone w3ho wants to "get away from it all"

I am a frequent VRBO renter and love to find properties that have something special. The Good Haven house is unique in that it sits on 2 acres (not really even visible from the road), their are turtles and frogs in abundance throughout the property (outside - not inside of course) that intrigued both canine and 7 year old boy, there is always a resident pelican sitting on one of the dock poles, and the sunsets are amazing. The house includes other amenities not found everywhere such as a LARGE screened porch area to fully enjoy the view without bugs if necessary, the most comfortable cypress swing, beach toys (not just toys - chairs, kites, umbrellas, etc), and a dock/pier out over the water to enjoy the sunsets even closer if you desire. There is also a plethora of great restaurants nearby such as Sunset Grill at Holiday Harbor, Hub Stacey's and Lillian's Pizza which are my favorites. If you have young children there is wonderful playground most probably wouldn't find if you didn't know to look - give or take about 6 miles down Gulf Breeze Hwy from the Innararity intersection on the left - you can only see a wooden sign from the road. If you get to the back gates of the NAS, you've gone too far.

Hi Susan - Thanks so much for the wonderful accommodations the week of 13 March 2010. We had a nice visit to FL and a comfortable stay at your Beach House. We enjoyed the pier and back porch. Kids managed to fish off the pier one day, despite the wind! Would love to come stay again when the weather is a little warmer and we can enjoy your big yard a little more. Maybe next year! Thanks also for the expeditious return of my deposit. I was really surprised to see it returned so quickly. We barely got home and the check was in our mailbox. Thanks again for everything!

Susan, This was our first time in Perdido Bay. We had a wonderful time. The house was a wonderful place to come back to after a long day at the beach. We'll be coming back to Perdido Bay in the future and hopefully Good Haven House will be available. Thanks again for the fun and the memories. Sincerely, The Thurmans

We just returned from a wonderful vacation at Good Haven House; what an enjoyable stay! The location is great; peaceful and serene, a bounty of wildlife and, best of all, not a condo in sight! The house is lovely and bright with plenty of room inside and huge decks and a screened room outside. Thanks for a great vacation!

We had a great time at Good Haven House but our dogs, Derby & Foster, had an even better time! They are older dogs and acted years younger - wanting to play non-stop. The yard and access to water was ideal. Neighbors are a little closer then we thought but the ones we met were super friendly and allowed us to use their beach access for our old dogs to wade into the water. We also saw an amazing amount of wildlife - dolphins or porpoises (not sure which,) ospreys, pelicans, herons, and even a couple of bald eagles! So for anyone that wants to take nature photos it has a lot to offer as well. Thanks so much Susan for allowing our pets to come with us - made all the difference in the world.

We loved staying at the Havenga House. There was wonderful beds there and the furnishings were great. The bay was particularly great because it didn't have any jellyfish in there. Unlike the ocean that had tons. we will stay there again. Thanks Havenga house for a great vacation in the beautiful Pensecola. Oh and try out the original restaurant only 1 mile away. It had awesome food.
