Heathcote is an 1870 Italianate home built by Captain George Crawford . This home is ideally located in the quiet residential neighborhood called "the hill" , but is steps from the main street of Saugatuck.
The view from the beautiful backyard overlooks the park, tennis court , and basketball court below and looks across the Kalamazoo River to Mt. Baldhead .
Known as the house with the porch , Heathcote has a beautiful front porch complete with table and chairs off the kitchen for your morning coffee, and an incredible screened in porch for cocktails, eating, reading , or just relaxing .
Heathcote has two bedrooms upstairs, one with a queen bed and one with two twin beds. These bedrooms share a full bath, complete with original claw foot tub .
Downstairs there is a parlor that has a twin day bed for napping or extra guests and a half bath.
The living room, dining room and kitchen are newly remodeled in 2007, and all the original wood floors redone . Off the kitchen is an additional "cottage style " bedroom with a full size bed and bath with shower, this can be closed off from the main house .
Heathcote's porches and yard are great for summer entertaining (there is even a separate beer fridge ) or for just relaxing after a day at the beach.

- Heathcote has an incredible location; the park and playground, the tennis courts, and the basketball court are all within steps of the beautiful big backyard. You can walk to all the shops and restaurants, as well as to the ferry that takes you across to the Oval Beach road. As the 5th generation of my family who helped found Saugatuck, I am proud to be restoring this beautiful historic house, and we hope you will enjoy and respect the history of it as well.
