Madras (Chennai) is a beautiful and gentle city in the southern part of India on the old Coromandel Coast. It has given its name to the world famous "Madras Plaid' textiles and clothing.
The apartment is on the long East Coast Road between Madras and the world famous historical site of Mahabalipuram. It is about 13km from Thiruvanmiyur and 35 Km from Mahabalipuram. It is less than 250 meters from the beach.
This apartment is brand new - just finished in May 2007. It is one of only two units in the building and situated on the top floor. There are two balconies that allow a magnificent view of the Bay of Bengal and the cool ocean breeze.
Enjoy the short walk to the beach to enjoy the early morning sunrise or in the evening to relax in the cool breeze.
The owners have the bottom floor apartment and are available for all necessary service and support. Daily house keeping services are available as well with fresh linens. The apartment is completely furnished. There are 3 bedrooms in the apartments, two with queensize beds and one with bunk beds. Two attached western style baths with all amenities are available. Water heaters are available in the bathrooms. There is a full service kitchen with a fridge, gas stove top and microwave oven. The apartment is well appointed with a TV with Satellite channel access, computer with broadband internet connection and air conditioning. Bottled water will be delivered to the unit.
Airport Pick up and drop-off services can be arranged. The hosts can arrange a car rental with driver during your stay, if necessary. The major road is dotted with excellent restaurants and stores with western style goods. We are also close to many entertainment activity centres such as Mayajaal Centre, VGP Land and MGM Land.
The host family is made up of the husband- accountant by profession, wife- taking care of the home front and two boys. They are caring people with relatives abroad and understand the requirements typical of travellers from other countries. They will respect your privacy and at the same time be available for any assistance you may need.
Madras was one of the first settlements of the British in India, with the old St George's Fort still in use as the Government Secretariat. Madras is seeped in history from that time.
Madras is home to the traditional south indian culture, with one of the oldest languages of the world. The arts and culture of Madras is world renowned and includes the famous dancing art known as Bharatanatyam.
Mahabalipuram, a historical site has rock sculptures dating back to the 12th century Pallava kingdom. It has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Center. It is about an half an hour's drive.
Other nearby historic sites include Gingee and Kanchipuram.
