Location: Mansons Landing, Cortes Island, The Islands, British Columbia, Canada (Sunny South Point of Cortes. Ten Minutes Walk from Hollyhock)
Accommodations: house, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths (Sleeps 4-5)
Keywords: Oceanfront House
As you journey here to this wilderness coast of British Columbia, by road and ferry or seaplane, you will begin to relax as you enter a world of clear ocean waters, stunning vistas and...quiet. My custom-built cedar home sits on nearly three acres overlooking the waters of Georgia Strait and the snow-capped peaks of the West Coast. It is set among stands of fir, alder and maples, it is private yet sunlit.
There are two bedrooms, each with their own bathroom (one with shower and one with bathtub). Hardwoood floors of Russian birch are used throughout the open plan living room, dining, and kitchen area. The feeling is one of casual comfort with style. You may want to wake early to view the sunrise over the mountain-tops or catch a glimpse of the deer. Or you may wish to sleep in and let the warmth of sunlight on your face wake you.
Your day, in this romantic setting , may begin with breakfast on the deck followed by a stroll down the woodsy trail to the beach below to gather clams and oysters for lunch. Your outdoor adventures could included swimming, kayaking, beach combing, hiking, sailing. Or perhaps you simply enjoy an afternoon of power lounging and solitude.
A memorable way to end the day: bathe by moonlight in the leopard-painted, antique tub!

A wonderful holiday cottage

This home was even better than the on-line description. It had many extras including an outdoor tub that overlooked the beautiful entrance to the discovery channel. It was within biking distance of Manson's Landing and within a short walk of Hollyhock retreat. We enjoyed our stay so much that we booked a longer one for next year. I would highly recommend this property.
Owner response:Thanks so much Jan and Helmut. I loved having you both here and look forward to you being here for 3 weeks this year.

This property is even better than the on-line description. It is a fairy tale cottage, clean, comfortable with wonderful extras such as the outdoor tub with hot water to soak in as you look out over the spectacular entrance to the Discovery Channel. It is within biking distance of Manson's Landing and a short walk to Hollyhock retreat. We chose this property for the availability of good kayaking waters and it didn't disappoint. I would highly recommend this property. We booked a longer stay the following summer.

It takes us a day and a half to drive to this beautiful island, it is well worth it. We have just booked for the 4th year, why go anywhere else once you discover paradise? The perfect spot to relax and enjoy all that Sowelu/Cortes has to offer. From the perfect spot to enjoy one's morning coffee, to the daily hike through Kw'as Park to swim rock, returning to Sowelu to soak in the sun and enjoy a swim at the very private beach, dinner on the deck, and lastly taking in the breathtaking view from our bed - ends the perfect day.....it just does not get any better.

Fabulous, romantic getaway in a spectacularly beautiful spot. My husband and I spent a too short week at Sowelu and enjoyed every minute despite some rain. The house is immaculate and we love the decor and obvious love put into the structure. The outdoor shower is simply the best and our little patio overlooking the water was the perfect place for cocktails before dinner. We walked on the beach, kayaked, had spa treatments at Hollyhock( very close) and felt all of our cares drift away. Highly recommend Caz's lovely house for one couple.

The Perfect Getaway Cottage Set In Stunning Natural Beauty.

My husband and I have been to Sowelu on Cortes Island four times during summer and off seasons; we have completely enjoyed ourselves every time and know we will always return. What you see in the photos is what you get....incomparable natural beauty, sweet clean air, wilderness at your doorstep. The house has every comfort you could want with a warm cottage feel but with the interesting, artistic touches of our hostess, Caz, who has travelled far to bring home the treasures that give Sowelu its exotic charm. The house is hand made, incorporating unusual woodwork and quality workmanship to create a bright, airy interior. Great beds! Lovely kitchen! Fabulous views! Privacy! The sun and the moon rise above the Coastal Mountains directly across the Strait ..... we don't think there are many places in this world with a view as beautiful as this one! The owner, Caz, lives near by and is very helpful and always ready to give info on neat things to do. Sowelu is all about getting away from it all with comfort, quiet and stunning natural beauty all around. We love everything about this place and the island of Cortes.

This home and the spectacular view exceeded our expectations! Incredibly peaceful, private and delightful. Caz made sure that we had everything we needed, including stunning bouquets of fresh flowers. If you want to get away from it all and surround yourself with beauty and nature in comfort, this is the place to do it.

I loved soaking in the cliff side tub looking at the coastal mountains, the eagles, and the discovery islands. My partner loved the same view from the outside shower. We have stayed at TONS of waterfront rentals in the northwest and this was in the top 5 for unique, privacy, comfort, and value. We will be back!!!!
