Great stay at the beautiful cottage. We choose this listing because of location. Two blocks from our granddaughters for a quick visit. Was more than we expected! Loved the huge deck for morning coffee and listening and watching all the birds. Our granddaughters loved Sunday's chickens. Thanks for the fresh eggs. Lisa & Jeff

Relaxing and Well-Situated Home-away-from-home

Travelling with kids, it is especially nice to have a pool to recover from the heat and stress of L.A. Being able to swim at night under the stars gave our kids the patience to allow their parents to do their thing over the day. Friendly hosts, great atmosphere. Less than half an hour from beaches, driving over the beautiful Topenga Canyon. Close to the West Valley area, a bit of a trek to get to the city, especially if traffic is bad, but that's L.A. With the sofa converted to a couch, the cottages were a little on the cramped side, but "Paradise" has a large patio, and "Serenity" a comfy eating space (plus patio, although that faces the street) to relax in. For us, though, most of the relaxing was done on the grounds and by the pool. One note about the pool, though: it is mostly deep, and kids can stand only in a very limited space. So perhaps not appropriate for non-swimmers (although swim rings, etc. are available), espeically as the pool is not fenced off.

Recommended for:Families with young children, families with teenagers.

Paradise in LA

You want to go to LA but you want to be at Lake Tahoe or some place surrouded by nature at the same time? Well, this is the place. Me and my family stayed here for a week and it was a "paradise" like they said the cottage is. The ambiance of the place gives you a feeling of being in the midst of a forest and the aroma of the vegetation around it was wonderful to wake up to in the morning and the quite sorrounding gave us a feeling of peace and serenity. We had a true home away from home experience. We will come back in a heartbeat in our next trip to LA.

We had a chance to stay in both properties on site for 3 months and enjoyed them each. Sunday and Lars were wonderful hosts They were never too busy to answer questions or help out. We miss their dog Peanuts visits! ( although if you don't care for dogs or are allergic I noticed she didn't bother the other tenant. She's pretty cool though to have around) It's very convienent to get to bustling Los Angeles places but sooo nice to come back to the quiet and peacefullness of the cottages. We saw fun wildlife including two red tail hawk babies being fed by the parents in our deck tree. At first we were worried about finding the place but once you get use to it you realize it's only a couple turns up the hill and only 7 minutes to Ventura. Thanks again!

We really had a wonderful 2 weeks stay in Woodland Hills, Paradise Cottage. The cottage is cozy equipped with everything you need. Area was beautiful, quiet and peaceful and minutes away from the beach and shopping centers. And not to forget Sunday who is always ready to help. Thanks for everything.

We had such a lovely stay at the Cottage in the Hills! Such a wonderful hostess - answering the phone at all hours of the day (and night) for assistance! Supplied items we forgot without hesitation. Everything we needed to help make our vacation perfect!!!

This is a very well appointed, comfortable cottage. We spent a fun week with our grandson and loved all the activities on the property. Quiet, convenient, yet out of the way, location from LA traffic. We definitely would stay again.

We stayed in this cottage for 5 nights and had a fantastic time. This place is so quite but still not far away from the beach, shopping centres, Hollywood or the main highway.The hosts Sunday and Lars were extremly friendly and always open for any questions. On the other hand they always respected our privacy. We will defenitely visit this place again.Some words in German:Dieses Cottage ist von seiner Lage her ideal,um einerseits ruhige erholsame Urlaubstage zu genießen, jedoch andererseits in kurzer Entfernung zu vielen Attraktivitäten um LA herum zu sein. Insbesondere ist man in ca 20 Minuten am herrlichen Strand oder z.B. in den Universal Studios in Hollywood. Die Ferienwohnung ist toll eingerichtet und man kann den riesigen schönen Garten mit herrlichem Pool mitbenützen.Die Gastgeber Sunday und Lars sind äußerst freundlich und hilfsbereit, jedoch auf keinen Fall aufdringlich. Von großem Vorteil für uns war auch die Tatsache, dass der Hausherr Lars als Deutscher einem viele Vorschläge und Tipps uns in unserer Muttersprache geben konnte, was für uns sehr hilfreich war. Ich und meine Familie würden, bzw. werden diese Ferienwohnung sicherlich nochmal wählen.

We (2 adults) fully enjoyed our 3 week stay at the Holiday home in the Woodland Hills. The accommodation met all and more of our needs. We needed a place with a full kitchen but with lovely surroundings. Would you expect to find this in LA and at a decent price in the summer months? Well this place had it. We arrived after a very long journey and as soon as we entered the door we felt so welcomed just by all of the provisions in the cottage, from hand cream to drinks (from coke to wine) with some morning cereal for breakfast. The cottage is very comfortable and cosy with modern air conditioning and cooking facilities (A proper oven and large fridge). It even had satellite TV. If you want to stay in a relaxed quiet environment, this is it. There is plenty of space to sit in the private communal garden out the back in the sun or the shade. This accommodation is well placed for getting to Hollywood, and also going up Topanga Canyon for a lovely route to the Pacific Coast highway, and also for driving through the beautiful mountains north of the Woodland Hills. Each unit also has its own barbecue and patio area. I have enjoyed staying in many different typed of places in the UK and USA but none have matched this one, which is why I am so keen to talk about it.
