Gulfport house description
This charming home is located on a large corner lot with citrus fruit trees, a fenced-in back yard off the screened lanai and a new 26' screened-in, front porch. Newly renovated and furnished, there are cool tile floors throughout and ceiling fans in every room. The Master Suite is separated from the other bedrooms for privacy. Renovated in August 2009, the master bedroom was turned into a suite by adding 60 square feet, a huge walk-in closet and a beautiful master bathroom with a convenient laundry closet.
The sandy beach on quiet Boca Ciega Bay is a five block walk through the historic part of Gulfport. Restaurants and small shops create a friendly, small town atmosphere. The small Gulfport Museum, located in an older home, and a park with tennis courts are across the street. The library and community art theater are three blocks away. Gulfport is the ideal place to enjoy peace and quiet just minutes from downtown St. Petersburg with all its museums, nightlife, restaurants and shopping. The Tampa airport is a 25 minute drive. The Gulf beaches, like St. Pete Beach, are only a short 15 minute drive.
Gulfport, originally a small fishing community, has become an integral part of St. Petersburg's art scene. A number of artists and musicians from around the country have created neighborhoods with colorfully painted homes and interesting yard art. An artwalk is held twice a month.
One of old Gulfport's most charming features is the Casino. It is located on the beach and is a venue for nightly dancing and weekly dance lessons. People of all ages gather for the lessons in Latin or ballroom dancing or just to watch others on the dance floor. On Sunday afternoons a group of Italians play bocci and dance in the Pavilion on the waterfront.

We enjoyed our stay in this comfortable home within walking distance of the quaint downtown area of Gulfport. This is a very dog friendly city and our pet enjoyed eating out at one of the restaurants and playing in the dog park almost across the street from this home. The little church across the street was a pleasant bonus on Sunday morning - dress is casual and the congregation friendly. We did encounter one problem at the home but contacted the property manager who responded immediately. We would recommend this home to others and hope to return in the future.

I arrived late on a Friday night and Lana was willing to come out to meet me and show me around the house - which was a great little place. There were a few bulbs out etc, which were repaired the next day. Gulfport is a quaint little town with a great main street to wander up and down. My only real comments are that the internet did not work and the grill was out of gas which was part of the reason I wanted this particular house. Regardless it was a decent property in a good location and we a lot of fun down there.

Owner response: Dear Andrew, I'm glad you enjoyed Gulfport and your stay in our house. I'm very sorry to hear that some of your expectations were not met. We strive very hard to meet our tenants needs and make good on anything promised or expected. (As was witnessed and mentioned in your review, when our property manager noticed a lighting fixture needed repair, it was fixed the next day.) I only wish you had contacted me or Lana about the Internet and gas grill. We don't know there's a problem if no one tells us. :( I apologize that a previous tenant didn't replace the propane tank when they used it up. :( That is just a common courtesy we expect and ask of our tenants. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving week, in spite of the two disappointments you encountered.
This place was the best house we went to in the US. It is nice, quiet and clean. For tourists without cars, it is the dream as everything is within walking distance (you will find 4 excellent restaurants down the street, a grocery store, bars and the beach) and the bus to St Petersburg stops just across the street. The owner has been very helpful from the beginning till the end of our trip which is highly appreciated when you come from another country. We had such a good time there that we are thinking about going back soon.

Owner response: We are so glad you found our house and little town so accommodating! We are totally in love with Gulfport for all the reasons you mentioned and more. We have renovated and decorated it to make it feel "like home," since it is to us. We stay in VRBO houses when we travel. It is always our goal to have our guests feel the way we want to feel when we rent.
A charming vacation home in a charming town
A charming vacation home in a charming town
Gulfport has a real small town feel. Walk down the main street (which is only a block from the house) and you'll find some awesome restaurants, cute shops and a wonderful tea/coffee shop called T and Me (go in there daily for whatever suits your fancy and you'll be treated like a regular). Within a 15-minute drive are the beautiful beaches of St. Pete, and Tampa is nearby for your enjoyment as well. The house has everything you need including a wonderful master bedroom and super comfy bed. The air conditioning keeps the house cool and refreshing after a day at the beach or if you're just looking to relax. Or sit out on the front porch and enjoy the view. Honestly, you can't go wrong.

My husband & I stayed in this Gulfport vacation rental with our 5 children, and I would defiantly recommend this rental. The home was beautiful, spacious, & Nicely updated.. And the location was perfect 10 minutes from St.Petersburg where we enjoyed museums & resteraunts.. But so much w/I walking distance- Across the street was a playground & tennis courts. Short walk away the library and the perfectly quant town with ice cream & coffee shops & home style resteraunts. We also enjoyed the fresh market once a week- Not to mention the beach, volleyball, & large playground is also w/I walking distance.. We had a great stay!!

Gulfport is a jewel. This home has an outstanding location and is delightfully quaint. Walked every day down the main avenue just two blocks away and visited the many shops and restaurants along the way towards the bay. Sunsets were gorgeous from the pier. Although we did not use the public transportation it is available right outside your door. Great place if you bring your pet. Dog park across the street was great and we met a lot of local residents who were delightful. The home is a nice size for up to 6 people. Kitchen is small but had everything we needed to make Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner. Master bedroom and bath are lovely and comfortable. The home was very clean. This home is great and we absolutely loved our stay here and hope to return soon. Stay was more excellent than good but linens need attention which I am certain the owner will look into. She is wonderful to work with on making arrangement to rent her home. Highly recommend.

Charming Property in the 'Arts District'
Charming Property in the 'Arts District'
This Gulfport vacation rental is charming and in a perfect location. We have our fourth visit booked for this coming winter. The bed was very comfortable and the layout is convenient for a family or sharing with another couple. The kitchen was well equipped, and the screened front porch is a great spot to relax. We enjoyed the porch vista of a cool shady boulevard courtesy of many live oaks while we watch the world go by. We also enjoyed picking fresh oranges and grapefruit from the front yard. It is walking distance from the main streets where there are great restaurants as well as the weekly outdoor market and twice monthly Arts Walks. The owner is very accommodating and quickly resolved any problems we encountered during our three rentals over the past two years.

A wonderfully quiet spot with a great dog walking block across the street. The house was very comfortable and easy to live in. All facilities worked well and were in good condition. Favorite spots were the front & back screen porches. It was an easy walk to beach, parks and the shopping area in the town which we did daily. It was our first long visit away from the Maine winter and we were well pleased with our choice. The ad for the property was truthful and the pictures helpful. We are returning in 2013 for a longer stay.

Cooling Off In Gulfport
Cooling Off In Gulfport
Left the hot, steamy mid-west in July for the breezes of Gulfport. These accommodations were perfect for our needs. The furnishing are very comfortable and the kitchen fully equipped. Would definitely rent this house again.

Owner response: Thank you for your review! I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay in Gulfport and the comforts of our home. We want people to feel as comfortable when they stay as we do when we come for a visit! We love to cook, my husband and I both, so we're delighted when visitors enjoy our stocked kitchen.
I stayed at this lovely village home for 10 days at the beginning of April, 2010. My husband joined me for a weekend and my five-year-old granddaughter joined me for several days and nights, as school allowed. All of us thoroughly enjoyed the house, which is aglow with sunlight all day from the skylights in the entryway. We found the house to be clean, attractively furnished, and well-maintained. The bathrooms are spacious, the laundry facilities in the master bath are sublimely convenient, especially with children along, the beds were comfortable for our older joints, and the kitchen was well-stocked with the supplies needed for daily living. While we were ununable to make full use of the screened-in lanai at the back of the house because of the amount of tree pollen at that time of year, it, too, was tastefully furnished and welcoming. As it happened, I spent almost all of my waking hours, when I wasn't elsewhere, on the huge, inviting screened-in front porch. My granddaughter likewise enjoyed the porch, and she and I made good use of the tennis court's practice wall and the playground across the street. We also used the library, which required only that we show a copy of our lease to borrow books, etc. The house is very conveniently located: while in Gulfport, I could park the car and walk everywhere. I hope to return often.
