Cozy getaway in Douglas from the crowds in Juneau. Easy access to entire area. Like a cabin in the forest. Extremely convienent to be able to do laundery as we had been on kayak/camping trip.Well stocked, private parking, covered access(out of Juneau's rain).Near by bus system can get you around Juneau if you do not have a car. Would stay here again if plans bring me to Juneau. Lots of hiking and exploring still to do.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Glad your stay was memorable! We love staying at our Guest House whenever we can get away! Do hope you make it to Juneau again to continue to make more memories. Thank you for making the time to post a review for our property.

We spent 6 nights quiet in the Douglas Guest House in June, 2012. Great Blue Herons were hanging out (nesting?) in near-by trees and hummingbirds flitting around just outside the windows. For us it's all about the local hiking and we were delighted by the trail access just steps away. Plenty of interesting local mining history, displays and ruins in the area (Tredwell Mine Historic Trail). Property was perfect for us (2 retired but active adults), compact, very clean and welcoming. Initially we were rather stunned by Juneau (this is the state capitol!?) but since this was our first Alaskan stop we soon realized that Alaska is like no other state and were quite charmed by the time we left. Great place to stay! We hope to return and hike Mt.Roberts & Mt. Jumbo (we almost got there - wonderful kettle ponds).Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thank you for submitting a review for our property! We have attempted to reach the top of Mt. Jumbo/Bradley twice. Once we had to turn around because of time restraints and the second time, I wasn't sure my knees would do good with all the downhill time on the return. I think my sister and I were very close the second time and we will try again and conquer! Juneau/Douglas Island is an amazing place...we love it there! Thank you for staying at our Douglas Guest House and happy to hear your stay was delightful!

The Guest worked perfectly for our 14 day trip to Juneau. Hosts were very responsive to any questions prior to the trip and provided excellent directions to find the location after leaving the airport. Location was ideal with easy access to downtown Juneau. The other tenants were very pleasant as well and helpful with fishing tips. We spent most of our time between Fish Creek, Tee Harbor and downtown shopping. Would recommend this property to my friends and family.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers.
Owner response: So glad your stay in Juneau and at our Guest House was good! Thank you for your review and choosing the Douglas Guest House for your home away from home!

We stayed in the Douglas Guest House for one week and it fit our needs perfectly. It's very well equipped and has all the cooking neccesities and spices. The location is beautiful. Great view and hiking trails close by. Not a bad walk over to Juneau either. I would definately recommend this property.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The Douglas Guest house was a great spot for us. Four of us and a 3 month baby stayed there and even though it was a bit tight, we liked the place very much. Having the kitchen and the laundry was a good thing for us. And,iIf you want access to downtown Juneau, it is easy to get there. The accomodations fit our needs very well.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
