Need a getaway with lots of space and privacy, then head to Mountain Meadow where you can cool down and relax.

Brand new in May, 2007! This secluded, private, two bedroom with bedroom/loft and 2 1/2 bath rustic cabin sleeps up to 6 and sits on 2+ secluded, private acres, not in a subdivision, with no other cabins on either side. The property is adjacent to an 80-acre horse farm and is located at the end of a dead-end paved road. The entrance starts out as pasture and has a long, 500' paved driveway as it climbs up the base of a wooded mountain where the cabin sits. It has an 8-foot wrap-around covered and non-covered double deck with rocking chairs, cedar swings, patio table, chairs, and sofa to relax and view the pasture with horses below and the surrounding mountains. The horses love to be fed the apples that have fallen off the three apple trees near the beginning of the long driveway! There are only two steps to get into the main floor of the cabin, making it easily accessible. Deer and other wildlife can be seen throughout the year; wild turkeys roam the area daily.

This roomy cabin is approximately 1,700+ square feet and features a high vaulted ceiling in the great room with a stacked stone fireplace, dining area which seats six, bar area seats two, is lodge-decorated and includes antiques in the bedroom/loft area. It has a log king-size bed in the master bedroom, located on the main level, a log queen-size bed in the upstairs bedroom, and a full-size antique iron bed in the large upstairs bedroom/loft area, which also includes a combination pool, card, foosball and ping pong table.

This all-wood cabin is very unique and unlike most in that some of the wood was sawmill-cut, planed and tongue & grooved by the owner and includes a variety of different woods; white & red oak flooring, black walnut upstairs bathroom cabinets and log mantle, red cedar master bathroom cabinets, poplar kitchen cabinets, and hand-made poplar bar, in addition to white pine walls throughout, white pine floors, white and western cedar hand rails, pickets and posts; no sheetrock or carpet. It features a large, fullly-stocked kitchen with all the amenities, including a crock pot and electric skillet for the larger meals. The cabin also has a separate laundry room with full size washer and dryer and a spacious master bath with heated Jacuzzi, separate shower and a double sink. About a mile away is a pool with pool house, including a snack bar with sandwiches and hot dogs, for a $5 per day admission. At the same location is a catch and release lake for fishing. Cabin is located just minutes away from Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Cades Cove, Townsend and the Wear Cove entrance into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park at Metcalf Bottoms (has large river for fishing/playing, picnic tables, grills and restrooms), in East Tn.

Sorry, no pets allowed, no house parties, and no smoking inside cabin, in addition to no fireworks outside of cabin.

Mountain Meadow - Private, Relaxed Setting
5/5

The best of both worlds

We are a family of three, couple and child. This was the perfect place for us. We were away from it all yet close enough to go ride bikes in Townsend or take a day trip to Gatlinburg, if we desired. The views from here are a delight - horses grazing in the meadow, turkeys taking a family stroll through the woods. Our 8 yo son loved havving his "own apartment" up in the loft. We must have played 100 games of pool. Meanwhile, the cabin itself is beautiful and has all the things you need to make your stay comfortable even if you don't want to get out and about. Thanks for a great stay! Lisa

Owner response:We know you will enjoy staying at Mountain Meadow as much as we do. It is away from the hustle and bustle but yet still close enough to hiking, horse-back riding, bicycling, swimming, fishing, shopping, antiquing, etc. If you desire a peaceful, relaxed, quiet setting, this is the place for you. Thanks. Taylor & Susan

We've had another great visit to the cabin! This time we enjoyed hiking to Grotto Falls and seeing all the Christmas lights in Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg. Thank you!

We enjoyed your cabin. Thanks for accommodating with such short notice. Love the central location. Finally saw a bear way up in a tree in Gatlinburg (Roaring Fork loop).

We had a wonderful time in the Smokies and thoroughly enjoyed your cabin! It is in a beautiful location and ranks as one of our favorites! We loved seeing the wild turkies, horses, red-headed woodpeckers and almost a black bear in Cade's Cove the cars ahead of us were the lucky ones . . . maybe next time). Thank you for sharing your home with us. It's so beautifully decorated and equipped (for which we really appreciate). We hope to come again!

We had a wonderful stay in your cabin. The only thing I see could be maybe a hot tub. Again, thanks.

Loved the cabin! Had everything we needed (except maybe a firepit). We have been to this area many times and think this has been our favorite place to stay and will come back again. Thanks so much!

Great trip. Cabin very nice. Maybe we'll be back with kids. No animals except Cades Cove. Well, few turkeys & birds. Maybe we'll come when leaves are gone and can see things better. Thanks.
