The house is very charming. Very clean and organized. Would definately stay again at the home and enjoyed out time there. The owners were wonderful to work with and provided so much detail. They were even concerned about us traveling during the snow storm that was happening.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

WOW! Young at Heart is a slice of heaven. The owners have done a lovely job of listing this property. The home is clean, comfortable and well maintained. We spent 3 nights at this property with our dogs. The home is a quick walk to the lake, the town of Charlevoix, and the wonderful public library. In early fall, the colours are breath taking, the front porch perfect for hot tea, or a glass of wine. We will return, and highly suggest this home as a perfect rental in the beautiful town of Charlevoix.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

Located near downtown Charleoix, the "Young at heart" cottage was an outstanding experience. The owners have planned well for their guests. The kitchen and bath facilities appeared new . The kitchen in particular was well equipped . Bedrooms and other rooms were spacious and very clean. Having the linens provided was an welcome feature. We particularly enjoyed the Grey Gable restaurant. Deborah and Jim also provided a very helpful information loaded binder with descriptions and brochures of the surrounding area The location of the cottage made easy access to the downtown shopping area for groceries as well as other items We certainly would recommend this place to our friends and family. It was a delightful experienceRecommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, people with disabilities, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

The "Young at Heart "cottage conveniently located in a charning neighborhood exceeded our expectations. The owners have planned well for the guests providing excellent kitchen and bath facilities as well as a spacious living room and bedrooms..Close to downtoen Charlevoix made it easy to shop for groceries as well as frequenting the many delightful shops. We particularly enjoyed The Grey Gables restaurant. Deborah and Jim also provided great information with brochures, maps etc of the surrounding environs. We were thoroughly comfortable and content spending the week in their facility. There is no question in our minds that we would come back to Deborah and Jim's cottage in the future. .Recommended for: Tourists without a car, pet owners, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing.

Our week at "young at Heart" was wonderful! We have been going to Charlevoix every summer for many years and have always loved and admired the Earl Young homes- how nice it was to have the opportunity to stay in one! The cottage is so cozy and clean- we all felt at home right away (myself, my husband, two teenagers and two dogs:)) The cottage has everything you need to make your stay comfortable- plenty of room, a great kitchen, nicely tiled shower and even yummy smelling hand and shower gels! We loved the quiet backyard with the large outdoor table- we enjoyed having friends join us for grilling and relaxing. The covered porch in front was the perfect place to sip coffee in the morning and our dogs loved to nap there after water time at the beach. The cottage is in a perfect location- you can walk to all the great things Charlevoix offers- Lake Michigan beach, shopping, dining, amphitheater in the park for movies or concerts and of course Kilwins for ice cream! We are looking forward to our next stay- we have already booked for next summer!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

We just returned from a terrific week at this cottage. The house had even more than we expected. The photos on the site are an accurate depiction (not staged), but you really don't fully appreciate how special the house is until you are on-site. The house was clean, cozy and convenient. It had everything we needed for a comfortable week away (the beds were super comfortable) and the location was perfect. Just a quick walk in one direction to a terrific beach on Lake Michigan with a great playground for the kids. And, a quick walk in the other direction takes you to the middle of downtown Charlevoix. We were amazed that every evening there was a concert or movie at the amphitheater so you could stroll in the shops, stop for fudge, then sit down and watch a show. We even had a chance to see a high school steel drum band from Petosky and they were great! We also attended a wonderful jazz concert at the gorgeous library across the street from the cottage. I also wanted to point out that the owners were a delight to work with throughout the rental process. Very responsive and provided very helpful information in advance of the trip and via a binder left at the cottage. Finally, we really enjoyed staying in an Earl Young home. We didn't fully appreciate who he was until we were actually in Charlevoix and saw other tourists take photos of the cottage with their "Mushroom Houses" book in their hands. All in all, a wonderful vacation and we really hope to return to Charlevoix and this particular cottage again soon!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, people with disabilities, age 55+, sightseeing.

Our family visited Charlevoix for the first time ever and part of the attraction was to find someplace quaint and close to everything -- downtown shops and restaurants, the beach, a library for rainy days, the pier for fishing and watching the sunsets. If you are looking for that and more, then this house should make a great match for your family. My wife and I along with our 3 young children stayed in the house and were very comfortable. My kids each had their own bedroom for the week which they enjoyed. The small bedroom upstairs was great for my one twin son who always wants his own room. What you see in the pictures is what you get in the house. Everything seems to have been updated even though the house is an older home. The kitchen is small but very functional and it too has newer appliances. There is only one shower in the house but it is very nice and looks new. The upstairs bath has a tub. Overall, the house felt like home. The neighborhood is really neat with all of the Earl Young houses and plenty of other very nice and well maintained properties. My kids, my wife and I enjoyed riding our bikes around the neighborhood and walking pretty much everywhere. We also enjoyed Ferry Beach on Lake Charlevoix which is really a short drive away as well. Lastly, the house is not far from the Little Traverse Bike Path -- maybe a few miles. I rode the beautiful section from Charlevoix to Petoskey one day so that is very convenient. We sampled a different local restaurant for dinner everyday and enjoyed most. One day we also ventured to Mackinac Island which was great as well. (it's roughly an 75 minute drive to the docks in Mackinaw City). We had breakfast at Flap Jack's two days and enjoyed their food. The owners of the property were great; they were very easy to work with and they answered many of our questions promptly both before and during our stay. I have vacationed in Michigan for over 20 years and I found these owners to be among the better ones I have worked with. I'd highly recommend the place.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

We thoroughly enjoyed the cottage. It is in an excellent location--walking distance to Lake Michigan Beach and downtown Charlevoix. It is also well maintained and comes with virtually everything you need--perfect for those looking to get away but not be forced to give up all of the comforts of home--including a well-equipped kitchen, wireless internet service, a nicely tiled shower, and, if you want it, cable television. There is also plenty of room and the back patio is a nice, private escape. We enjoyed listening to an outdoor jazz concert at the Charlevoix library (across the street) while relaxing on the secluded back patio. Its location and quality make this a unique property in the cottage rental market.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, families with young children, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

My family and I enjoyed our stay at "Young at Heart" this 4th of July. There were 5 adults, 1 baby, and 3 dogs in all. We had plenty of room and the home was stocked with everything we could possibly need. We enjoyed spending the mornings and evenings out on the covered porch while we watched the Earl Young tours/gawkers go by. It was awesome being only a couple blocks from the beach and town. Although the weather was incredibly hot, we managed to keep cool at night with the fans. Our 5 month old baby was very comfortable and had no problem getting in his many naps :) This was our first trip to Charlevoix and we loved it. We plan to come back out that way next year and may spend a little more time in Petoskey as well. Thanks Deborah and Jim for opening your home to us!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners, families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing.
