The Unique Benefits at this Chalet
One of my favorite things to do while at the cabin is to enjoy quiet evenings grilling or sitting out on the front deck in the wooden rockers enjoying the cool mountain breezes. There is plenty of room for children to play or for family walks. There is a play area with a slide, swings and an open field for running and playing while parents sit in the rockers on our front deck, enjoying a cup of fresh brewed coffee after enjoying another great day of activities in the Great Smoky Mountians. The cabin is easy access all seasons, no steep hills to drive and fully paved right up to the door with paved parking.
If you travel by motorcycle, car or have a trailor you will have no problem with access. Plus the drive to the cabin is beautiful. We have been blessed with this mountain home. It is as we like to say,"As close to heaven as you can get with two feet on the ground."
We are 2 miles from Ghost Town.
On July 4th.'2009'the "Cliffhanger",rollercoaster opened. It goes 52 miles an hour. It feels as if you are going to go off the side of the mountain. (The views are unbelievable as you travel up to the top and then "drop" down at tremendous speeds.) You pay one price, and if you are brave enough, you can ride it as many times as you like. There is not another ride like this in the South East. It is a scary ride, a beautiful ride,(you can see mile after mile of mountains from the top), and one you will never forget. I know, I rode the first rollercoaster up at Ghost Town many years ago! I still remember the feeling of dropping off the side the mountain and being slung around at tremendous speeds. I thought I just might land in Tennessee.
Everyone should ride it at least once! Just to know the thrill! There are rides, can-can dancers, shows and shops:A one of a kind Western theme park with cowboys, a shoot out and even an undertaker. A great, old fashion family oriented experience for all ages, LOts of fun! It's like stepping into the past!
Located 10 minutes from the cabin. A great way to explore the beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains. Picnic, hike the many trails or just enjoy nature.
Valley bought out by the Park Service to preserve old homes and churches as well as the beauty of natural setting. Scenic drive, picnic and enjoy viewing Elk, Deer, Wild Turkeys and other wildlife.
Appalachian & country Ivy Hill Band plays mountain music & popular music:old time Fiddle to contemporary music. google: You Tube Get That Acapella (Maggie Valley 06) Join in or watch the show.
Home of legendary Raymond Fairchild. Enjoy great Bluegrass music, food and dance.
Western Theme Park. Stroll through the saloons or watch a gun fight. There is even an undertaker who hauls off the "Bad guys." Lots of rides, plenty of food and great views.
Breath-taking 360 degree views of mountain after mountain vistas.See over a 52 mile distance on a clear day from visitor center or hike the 1/2 mile trail for angelic views.
Some of the highest trails in eastern nc. Nature provides snow much of the Winter season but snow machines make sure that every day is a good ski day. The mountain views are *Breath-taking*
Falls located 5 minutes from the cabin. Stop and enjoy the solitude and sounds of water as it cascades down the valley. There is a nice trail for those who want to spend some time on foot.
For those who want a different Winter experience try Tony's Tube World. A blast for all ages. Tube down snow-covered lanes. From young to not so young, great fun.
Located in Cherokee,20 minutes from the cabin. Performed in a large outdoor theater; this historic outdoor drama tells the true story of the Cherokee people and the "Trail of Tears."
Feel a little lucky? Try your hand at the Casino, enjoy the many restaurants available and enjoy top of the line entertainment.
Golf in the mountains at Maggie Valley Club. Beautiful range with magnificient views. One of the many mountain golf courses available in the area.
Whitewater rafting for the novice and advanced rafter. Mountain bikes availble for rent. Great Fly water beyond rafting center, turn left at power plant for miles of Fly water.
Outstanding theater with great performers. Plays run throughout the Spring, Summer and Fall seasons. Many shops and galleries to visit while in Flat Rock.
Learn about the Cherokee Indian's ancient way of life in the Cherokee open air museum. Visit the homes and meet the people of the village that demonstate the many tools and crafts.
Indoor and outdoor exhibits that show the relationship between wildlife and nature in the natural setting of the Great Smoky Mountains.
Great place to take the little kids (parents will like it too.) Petting zoo with many animals including baby bears. Lots of rides and things to thrill the younger explorers.
Visit a working goat farm that still runs as it did when Carl Sandburg's wife tended her prized goats while he found inspiration among the springhouses that kept butter cool. Pond, streams and trails.
Visit historic structures, View the many tools and equipment used by farmers in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Explore the farm and learn how settlers survived the harsh, but loved mountain life.
A great little area near Maggie to explore. Lots of high-end art galleries. Local crafters display stain glass, pottery and lots of hidden treasures. Also has a Mask General Store with outdoor gear.
