We've stayed at the Grand Sierra before but this year rented from Ken and Tammy. It was basically the same as booking through the hotel but a better deal with much friendlier service. We checked in at the Summit desk and everything was just the way Ken and Tammy said it would be. The room was just as described, the bed was comfortable, there was a desk and sofa, lots of plugs for computers and such, a nice bathroom, and the fridge and microwave were handy to have. The GSR is a nice property, with lots to do and lots of places to eat. Trying all the wines in the wine bar was fun, as was aqua golf. We stay in Reno a couple of times a year and will always try to rent this unit from now on. Thank you!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

First of all Ken and Tammy were very helpful. Everything went so smoothly. All I had to do was contact them, make my reservation and when I arrived at the GSR, I checked in and went to my room. Simple. I love the unit, the hotel and working with K & T. I am planning on using them again next time I head out to Reno. I HIGHLY recommend this!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Wow! What can I say? 1st - The process of securing the room w/Ken & Tammy, from my first email inquiry their responses were quick & informative. We ran into a situation & had to change our travel dates. Boom! Tammy, Ken & an associate named Tracy worked w/us to move our dates & again resecure our room. We were just shy of 14 days before our travel dates. We later found out Grand Sierra Resort was sold out for our travel dates! We count ourselves lucky to have had such great people to work with. 2nd - The room! We had a king room & it was exactly as described. Nice size Fridge & Microwave with couple bottles of water provided to us each day. Bed comfy the view nice shower big enough for 2 & the room size great. Its sure was nice to be able to WALK around a room without running into something! Our room had a couch, who always wants to sit on the bed everytime you go back to your room? 3rd - The entire property of Grand Sierra; we enjoyed it! Hit the pool the first day, yep it was a mistake, should have put the sunscreen on! Bar service at the pool was so-so and the drink prices were a little high but nothing really that unusual or unpleasant. We were going to catch a movie at the theatre but we had so many things planned in just a few days we never made it. We hit the driving range, kinda cool. There are several restaurants including a Starbucks & I think a 24 hour Cafe (good icecream). Personally, the restuarants are slightly overpriced for their average quality. <spoiled from home good restaruants at great prices> Anyway try the buffet instead. I know that sounds horrible but the buffet was amazing! The food had flavor! It was our best meal & we ate on the property, in Reno, and in Tahoe! It was the best bang for our buck, we used comps the hubby earned while gambling which reduced the price. Wish we would have gone on the first night instead of the last! Urgh! 4th - Walmart is about 7 min walk across Sierra's parking lot, we hit it first thing and grabbed some soda. A youth baseball tournament was in town w/several teams staying in our hotel. We saw several moms hauling bags of chips & snacks from Walmart! 5th - Getting around. Sierra shuttle from the airport to hotel & back was great. Talk to drivers, they will give you some tips. Cab ride to downtown Reno $10 each way. The riverwalk from downtown to Grand Sierra about 2 miles but not to be done at night. 6th - Overall rating A+ & would book again!Owner response: Thank you for the kind words. We are glad that we were able to be flexible and meet your needs. Also, we are very glad that you found the accomodations, amenities, and location to your liking. It is always our goal to delight our guests!

I made a last minute request of Tracy and Tammy to book this room the day before my niece's graduation from UNR. They got back to me within hours of communication and set up everything the next morning the day we were to drive up. The room was VERY clean and comfortable. We got the king size bed which was more than roomy for my wife and I. The bathroom was big enough for both of us to get ready at the same time which is a big plus. The kicker was that the room is extremely quite inside even though you can hear the occaisional shouts of other "guests" it's not like the other hotels that the walls are paper thin so sleeping was never interrupted. Tracy and Tammy are AWSOME and I highly recommend renting this room from them. I know my next Reno visit will be to Grand Sierra as soon as I contact Tracy and Tammy. Thanks guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Owner response: Thanks for the great review! We make a point of responding as soon as we can and to go the extra mile to make your visit to Reno the best experience it can be. Come see us again! Ken, Tammy and Tracy

We frequently visit Reno as a family, and have always stuck to the hotels we know. (not sure if im allowed to mention them here.) but this is the first time we have stayed at the Grand Sierra Resort, and can honestly say we LOVED our stay. We NEVER left the hotel. in the first 24 hours, we went bowling, down to the driving range, to the arcade, the movie theatre and the pool!! the beds, were so comfortable, the pillows and yes, even the blankets. it was beautiful. the staff was wonderful. and it was extremely convenient. and valet, was quick as can be. you would see the bell hops literally running! the room service? of course we tried it! Johnny Rockets Restaurant was part of their room service and they had the best burgers. room service only took 20 minutes! Our last night, we rented a convenient movie, not out on DVD yet, and relaxed in our room. It was a wonderful weekend. my only downside... the buffet in this hotel is very cheap compared to other hotels, so you have to remember, you get what you pay for. though i did like the food, there wasnt much selection. but this is my only gripe. and i almost didnt list it for two reasons.. 1) has nothing to do with the glorious room you'll be renting. 2) a buffer is NO REASON to rule out a good hotel. Ken and Tammy were quick on response everytime I sent an email, had a question, or changed my itinerary with them. so i defenitly appreciate working with a great couple. this expeience was wonderful and I plan to visit again real soon!.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Dear Tammy and Ken, I wanted to say "Thank You" very much for great stay! We really enjoyed your room, and the girls especially loved it! The room was very comfortable after a long day of playing in the volleyball tournament in Reno! Having a Super Walmart literally right across the street was a plus! We bought food/drinks and stocked the refrigerator. My girls made great use out of all the activities available. We even ventured out and drove up to Mt. Rose, which is a quick drive away! I would definitely stay again, and plan on booking for future trips to Reno. I would recommend it to others in a heartbeat!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Ken and Tammy, Our stay was Fantastic!!! There was so much to do at the hotel. The room was gorgeous and we loved that the refrigerator was bigger than smaller compact ones. If we visit Reno again, I definitely will be contacting you to stay at your rental at the Grand Sierra Resort. Thanks for the great room and the great rate!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We've stayed at this resort several times, but not since it became the Grand Sierra. I love the location - literally only a couple minutes' drive from downtown, but far enough to get away from the hustle and bustle. There is much to do right onsite - 24-hr bowling, dining choices, movie theater, arcade, pool, casino action, spa treatments, mini golf, shopping, and more. You can book tours and activities at the tour booth, and Enterprise rents cars onsite too. The condo/room is exactly as shown in the photos here. It is modern and luxurious, furnished in dark colors and marble, and impeccably clean. There was plenty of room for clothing. A coffeemaker, refrigerator, microwave, and iron provided added convenience. We also enjoyed the free WiFi. The view overlooks downtown, the freeway, and the hills. It is actually very nice. The room location is great (close to the elevators, but not close enough to hear them) with convenient access by exclusive elevators, and the halls were very quiet. Ken was very helpful in answering all of our questions before we booked his condo. We communicated by e-mail, and he was prompt and clear in his responses. We stayed mid-week, and we felt it was a great price and a great value. The transaction was secure and smooth. As a travel professional myself, I feel comfortable in recommending this unit based on the accurate representation on this site and the top-notch service that the owner provided. Thanks for providing a great place for us to escape, Ken!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.
