Where Cowboys Dream! Glacier Park, on the Wild Flathead River
Year Purchased: 2007
Why the Owner Chose Hungry Horse
I lived for several years in Montana and loved it and wanted to have a second home there.
The Unique Benefits at this House

This is Glacier Park's 100 year anniversary, through September of 2010. Don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime experience! FABULOUS LOCATION FOR SNOWMOBILING, SKIING WITH A FAMILY AND ALL THE UPCOMING WINTER CARNIVALS AND FUN! DON'T MISS THE WORLD FAMOUS FURNITURE RACES IN MARTIN CITY, OR WHITEFISH MOUNTAIN RESORT. WHY STAY IN A CRAMPED CONDO WHEN THIS IS AVAILABLE FOR AN ECONOMICAL, SPACIOUS AND HIGHLY SUPERIOR EXPERIENCE!?
This is a must stop, with everything and more made from Huckleberries. Try it!
Fishing, Hiking, or just gazing, take a walk from the house down to this River Access and enjoy!
Don't miss this ride up to Hungry Horse Dam and the Spotted Bear Wilderness! Do you know why its called Hungry Horse? The local story is in book form at "Where Cowboys Dream"!
Enjoy the shops, old train trestle and information center. Don't miss the Glacier Museum, and Going to the Sun Highway. Awesome!

Great location for trips to Glacier National Park, Kalispell, Whitefish and Bigfork . We enjoyed the wonderful accommodations complete with fully stocked kitchen, laundry room, good selection of books, comfy beds and huge patio to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. We loved walking to the Huckleberry store up the street to have huckleberry pancakes in the morning and plug in our laptops (store has WiFi, house does not). One thing to note: if you plan on fly fishing outside the National Park, where it's free, you will need to buy a fishing license (approx. $35 for 2 days) and you cannot keep any cutthroat trout.

The gathering of this group is always an adventureous tale to be told! So to sum it up - the "Dream'n" part of your homes' name lived up to it wonderfully! Hikes; Strawberry Lake, Avalanche Lake, Columbia Mtn. Trip to Waterton/Prince of Wales, the vista of St Mary's Lake; all amazing and worth the "narrow drive". Unfortunately, we didn't hike..the wind was gusting 40 mph and our hair was standing on edge. The best night experience was the :free" lightning show on the back deck. Then the weather front arrived and brought a watering of the flowers and wind to swing the beautiful flower baskets to sleep...along with all our crew/1 Thanks for providing a comfortable, relaxing environment. Our group is from varied parts of Tennessee/Georgia/and the Outback in Australia...the change in weather without humidity was a pleasantry for all!

Thank you so much for the use of your home for our vacation. What a perfect spot! So comfortable for the six of us-cooking dinners together, talking around the table late into the night, slept like logs, coffee on the deck and yes, watching the eagle glide by! It was a great meeting place between family in Seattle and thos of us from Minnesota. Highlights: Hikes to Avalanche Lake, Waterton area, Huckleberry Lookout area and challenging our fear of heights on the Highline Trail. Two Medicine Lake too! Lots of wildlife...bighorn sheep at Logan Pass, deer at Waterton(a given) eagles, dippers at the falls and rodents of all varieties. Great food at East Glacier Hotel. best Pie...Eddies' at Apgar or Park Cafe at St. Mary's?? The jury is still out! On our way out now, thinking of driving south along Flathead Lake before heading east toward home. Thanks again for providing a perfect setting for a very memorable vacation. We all agree-we should plan to come back again!

Thank you for sharing your wonderful home, so relaxing to sit on the deck and watch the river! We had so much to do and the 2 weeks went by too quickly! Many trips to Glacier for hikes and to view the breathe taking mountains...even on rainy days, words cannot fully express the beautiful sights in Glacier park. Our family was all together here(son and family from Seattle) daughter and her family stayed with us for one week. It was great to watch the four grandchildren run and play together...ages 6-5-4 and 22 months. They all loved the great outdoors, and only get to be together once a year so took many pictures Went to Hungry Horse Dam, Fishing at Moose Lake, Road to the Sun, Mt Raceway Park, Lake McDonald, multi hikes, shopping, Huckleberry Patch for lunch. Animals we saw...your eagle, deer, coyote, mt goats, mt lion and a black bear! We will leave with plans for return trips!

We loved our week at your home - thanks for sharing it with us! It was everything we expected and more. Clean and comfortable, well appointed, nicely maintained, and the location provides easy access to popular attractions of the park. We see it as a great value and felt lucky to find it. Six of us met to spend the week together as family. We loved waking up and drinking our coffee on the deck overlooking the river, complete with the mountains providing a gorgeous backdrop. My stepdaughter said multiple times, "I can't get over how quiet it is here."
Owner response:Check back for more specials in the fall/winter!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. This is a "home away from home" and we felt very comfortable here from the minute we walked in. We did see the deer (2), bald eagle, hawk, fishing slow due to hot weather. We also met Jan and Murry Graham at the gift store at the end of Main Street on the highway and bought some bags of saphire gravel. The whole family had great fun picking out the vari-colored saphires and we now have a great souvenir & memory of our visit (Ask the Grahams about their Yogo sapphire mine). Great spot and we'd love to visit again when time allows. John & Brenda Horning, Tyra, Greg, Madison Kellan and Josh.

Our vacation was excellent, and the home is wonderful! We saw the eagel and deer across the river. Besides enjoying Glacier NP we white-water rafted and took the kida to the Amazing Fun Center. Their favorite were the maze, putt-putt, and bumper boats. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us! Papa Richard, Nana, Matt and Sarah

Dear Mike and Peggy, and lucky guests to follow... We had so little time here and didn't leave enought time to write anything that would adequately describe our experience here! We left early and came home late, exhausted and yet exhilirated from the day. We saw the Osprey several times "fishing" in the river. We think we saw the eagle and a sweet deer drinking on the opposite bank. We saw the hummingbird many times. We're on our way to the Stanton lake Trail now and Great Northern mountain wo we can't comment on that yet... Our favorites were Avalanche Creek Trail to Avalanche Lake. Hidden Lake Overlook to Hidden Lake which was gorgeous but a bit scary (height)...Grinnel Glacier Trail, Grinnel Glacier Overlook and BEST OF ALL...Highline Trail to Granite Glacier Chalet and down to the "Loop". We saw a bighorn sheep at 1 foot distance..goats too many to count that we could have petted had we wanted, marmots that followed us along the trail...a moose, no elk yet...a mama bear and two baby cubs!! Beautiful beargrass....glacier lillies and flowers we grew to recognize but didn't know the names of.... So much done....so much left undone! Thanks for the comfort of your lovely piece of Montana...We will never forget it! John, Mary, J.J. and Jeff christensen.

Thank you for the lovely accomodations. We had a wonderful time. We floated the river a ccouple times, did some swimming and boating in Lake McDonald. Hiked to Avalanche lake and St. Mary Falls in the park. My mom saw the eagle walking on the shore and then fly. There are so many more things to see and do...we can't wait to come back! Drew amd Gemie, Jonathan(8), Emma(5), Steve and Gwen, Austin(13, Kaitlyn(11). PS-We broke an icecube tray so we bought a couple new ones.
