Alpenhaus provides private SKI IN SKI OUT, Hike/Bike in, Hike/Bike out location with quick access to not only skiing/snowboarding but also year round sports, sight seeing and, most important,relaxation.
Located right on the Fernie Ski Hill on Highline Drive, just a ten minute drive west of Fernie, British Columbia,our chalet offers close proximity to shops, restaurants, chair lifts, downhill and cross-country skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing. There are 3-4 on hill restaurants and as small grocery/liquor store withing walking distance.
Our Bavarian-style, log-sided chalet is nestled in breathtaking mountain views of tall standing spruce, larch, and cedars. Alpenhaus can accomodate 7 people.
The master bedroom contains a queen-size bed, complete en suite with Jacuzzi tub/shower, and washer/dryer. The walk-out deck boasts majestic views of Morrissey Ridge.
The huge shaker/gourmet kitchen overlooks the great room, with gas fireplace with large windows letting in lots of natural lighting. There is plenty of storage space for food and drink supplies and plenty of space for everyone to pitch in with food preperation. We are fully-equipped with a gas cook top, convection oven, fondue sets, blender, and more to accommodate a variety of food preparation styles.
The private deck with private 7 person hot tub, gas barbeque, patio furniture, and a shed to lock away valuable sporting equipment.
While vacationing in this area, you can enjoy year round recreational and relaxation activities, from skiing/snow boarding and cross country on non stop powder in the winter. Summer offers excellent golfing, biking, fishing and swimming, and endless well maintianed hiking trails.

Our family has been skiing in Fernie since 1993. In 1998, ski hill property came up for sale and we had to buy our dream location, ski in and ski out. We built our Alpenhaus in 2000 and have enjoy not only the fabulous powder winters but also the all year outdoor experience unique to Fernie and the Elk Valley such as fishing, floating in the Elk River, Hiking, Biking and more. Our kids grew up skiing and playing here in the summer. Fernie summers offer wonderful climate for all activities we love hiking, mountain and road biking, floating down the Elk River and entertaining friends and family. Fernie offers privacy in a beautiful mountain setting and is the best way to enjoy family and friends.
Why the Owner Chose Fernie
Fernie is just a 3 hours away from Calgary, our home town. It was a perfect ski get away location. The average snow fall per year is 8 to 9 meters. You are guaranteed great skiing in several of the many available runs. Ski in for lunch and at the end of the day is an added bonus, especially for family members with a range of ski/boarding agendas.
We thought skiing was the ultimate, however, the year we built our place was when we came to learn was a beautiful summer location Fernie is as well. From scenic and challanges golf courses, hiking, mountain biking and floating or fishing the Elk River keeps us coming back as much as possible.

The hottub on our private deck is provides fun and relaxation for everyone, this is serviced during your stay, so the only responsibility is to enjoy. The view from the front or back is breath taking, quiet, very very green and lush with huge Cedars and Larch trees. This is where the Mountain blue jays and hummingbirds love to hover and feed.

Hi Christine, I just wanted to say thank you and tell you how much we enjoyed the house. The ski in/out access was great and we really enjoyed the hot tub. The ski conditions were poor the Saturday but Sunday was good. We hadn’t been there in 15 years and the place has really changed. Anyway, thanks again. We found this accommodation to be perfect for relaxing after our back country camping trip and a full day on the Elk River. The unit is clean, comfortable, spacious and had everything we needed. The owners were very helpful and everything was as we expected. The location would be ideal for winter skiing too. "Thumbs up!"

There is not enough that can be said about this fabulous accommodation and the magnificent area in which it is situated. The owners have left no detail unattended and you will be hard pressed to find accommodation so well appointed anywhere else. We were amazed to find an abundance of cooking utensils and linens stocked in this elegant, tastefully decorated condo. The pristinely maintained hot tub situated on the deck surrounded by trees, gorgeous gardens and mountains, was the perfect end to a perfect day spent hiking fabulous trails and enjoying magnificent vistas in every direction. We can't possibly say enough about this super accommodation and the fabulous owners who accommodated our every need. Look no further, this is it!
