They open into a nicely equipped kitchen, adjacent dining area, and cozy living room with a DIRECT VENT FIREPLACE and cathedral ceilings with exposed wood beams. A screened-in porch is located immediately off the living room. A HOT TUB with a WATERFALL is located just outside.
Situated on 5 acres, this refurbished farmhouse has a creek traversing the property with a SMALL POND and several WATERFALLS, as well as spring apple trees, an orchard, and two large walnut trees. The screened-in porch is tranquil and perfect for dinner or reading. Savor the fresh mountain air. Let your eyes wander to Phoenix Mountain and the Ashley Chapel. Picnic along the stream or play in the pond!

Why the Owner Chose Lansing
Granny Rose's family (the Ashleys) were the first to settle this valley. This farm house was originally built around 1900, but was totally rebuilt in 2000. Thsi has always been a very relaxing place for me to come to. The air seems cleaner and fresher, the night sky is always impressive, and my favorite activity as a child was catching crawdads in the creek!

Our 5th Thanksgiving with friends. Your cabin was the best appointed of all the cabins we've stayed [in], including the cabins at Hilton Head in summers...we really liked the fireplace in your family room. Very cozy...I wanted to stay another day, but my friends had to get back to work. Thanks for a nice stay.

This was an outstanding vacation/romantic getaway! There was nothing you could possibly want-it was provided!! The pictures are great but do not do the Country Cottage justice!! We had not been on vacation in 5 years and now can't wait to go back-and we will only go back to the Country Cottage. It was so beautiful, quite, peaceful and relaxing. Coffee on the screened porch watching the clouds move from the mountain; dinner on the patio by the waterfall; breakfast watching all of the butterflies enjoying the garden; and ending the day in the relaxing hot tub!! We were out in the country without a lot of tourists around, but so close to so many wonderful places, restuarants, shopping, hiking, tubing, bicycling, VA, TN, Mt Jefferson, Boone...the list goes on and you could be anywhere at anything within 45 minutes tops! And the drive was relaxing and beautiful! I can't say enough about the home (and it felt like a home full of love), the ease of the entire process and the wonderful assistance by John, the owner!!!! He was the best!! Thank you, thank you and I highly recommend it to everyone!!

This property is wonderful. It was very well equipped, and very relaxing. The hot tub was great. We took several day trips to the Grayson Highlands Park in Virginia, to Mountain City Tenn, to Doughton Park on the Blue Ridge Parkway, to Boone and Blowing Rock, and to Grandfather Mountain. I hope to visit again. Thanks John for renting your family homeplace.

We were at the cottage in February,April, and June Of 08', looking forward to being there in July as well, what a great place to rest,relax, read watch t.v., enjoy the fresh cool mountain air and the beautiful scenery God has provided. Try to get there as often as our schedule permits. Great place!!!!!!

We have enjoyed staying at the cottage several times over the past year. We have enjoyed the quietness and relaxing atmosphere(reading, watching TV, or just enjoying nature and meals on the screen porch). Good restaurants are in nearby West Jefferson. We also enjoy just riding through the countryside and experiencing God's creation. A must stay place for anyone seeking serenity and relaxation. We are excited about our next visit there.

My friends and I had a wonderful "girls weekend out" at the Stamper family home and found it to be a perfect place for porch sitting and catching up with each other. We had great coffee at Anne's Place in Lansing, a nice luncheon at Micheal's in West Jefferson and cooked meals to eat out on the screened porch. The porch was the best part! There was plenty of room for the three of us with just the right amount of cool, mountain air to help us sleep. Thanks for a lovely weekend.
