Our completely remodeled house is located on Cougar Point Golf Course (named 2008 Golf Course of the Year by the S.C. Golf Course Association). A short walk and you are at the wide ocean beach. Want to bike? That's even faster and we even supply four touring bikes AND child bike trailer!
Wide plank pine flooring throughout the first floor remind you of that old time beach cottage feel but the amenities are far from old timey. Fully equipped kitchen boasts granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and opens to a screened in deck for memorable family meals. The living room boasts a 42' HDTV with digital cable and DVD for family movie night. Need to do a little work while you're here? Shame on you! But, no problem. We've got high speed WI-FI.
Truly a family friendly escape, trails to the marsh for wildlife viewing are steps away along with a viewing tower for watching spectacular sunsets over the marsh.
The house's location at west beach makes it ideal for convenient access to shopping, Night Heron recreational park, and west beach tennis courts as well as the five resort golf courses. Even with that accessibility, the house remains tucked away from traffic and noise so you and your family can enjoy your privacy. Our house is cared for by an established local property management firm and the convenience and peace of mind of their availability is included in your rental fee.

Hi Joe, We're packing up to head out tomorrow and wanted to thank you for allowing us to rent through you. My family has been renting on Kiawah since I was a baby and this is the first house that has literally had zero issues during our stay. Now that I'm in the driver's seat, I appreciate this fact even more! We've had a wonderful time and hope to rent with you again next year. This house is perfect for a family vacation. I grew up visiting Kiawah every summer and wish we knew about this property sooner. Everything was "as advertised" based on the info on VRBO. The kitchen was well-stocked, beds were super comfortable and the living space was very roomy. Having four adult bikes was a nice amenity and the child trailer was crucial for getting to the beach. We will certainly stay here again in the future!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We returned last week from a wonderful 4 day stay at this property. The owner was extremely easy to work with! This was our first trip to Kiawah and we would not have changed one thing. This house felt like home. It's very cozy and provided plenty of space for our family of six. We made great memories there. We enjoyed being on the golf course. One evening, we spent 30 minutes watching two deer feed in the neighboring yard. The beach was an easy bike ride away. Our children enjoyed biking to and from the beach. Thanks to the owner for providing bikes and the baby carrier! We rode bikes every day. The trails were wonderful. We will definitely return to Kiawah and this property would be our top choice.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We spent a long weekend at this wonderful home. Communication with the owner was outstanding prior to our trip. We have stayed on Kiawah several times, but this is our favorite location. Some homes can take 15-20+ minutes to get to restaurants or grocery, however, this is the perfect location- minutes from Freshfields for food, shopping, groceries...and a short bike ride to Night Heron or the Sanctuary. We enjoyed the easy bike ride to the beach, and the four adult bikes and child carrier (trailer-style) saved us money and time not having to deal with rentals. The kitchen is well appointed with nice cookware, dishes and serving pieces. The furniture and decor is lovely. The upstairs bathroom set-up was perfect for four people sharing. Our children loved the large selection of Disney movies!! Thank you for a wonderful, memorable vacation in your great beach house. Fall is a perfect time for Kiawah.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Wonderful secluded home with all the extra's!!!! You will need nothing when you stay here, this home has it all. Great home, close to beach and very well decorated. Island was how I remembered it 25 years ago and we can't wait to come back next year for two weeks. Freshfield's Village was awesome and close. Lunch at the Ocean Course in a must!!! Thanks to the Howell's and we WILL see you next year for two weeks!!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

I had been to Kiawah Island many years ago as a child and decided to start a new tradition and rediscover the island with my family. The house was very pretty and well decorated. We loved having the large deck overlooking the golf course for my 2 year old son to blow bubbles and watch the golf carts drive by. We LOVED having the 4 bikes and child trailer to take to the beach and ride aound the island. We loved having Freshfield Village close to the house. The grocery store (Newton Farms) was terrific and there was always something going on, such as a Farmers market and movie night for the family. We will be back to Kiawah Island in the future, such a relaxing and peaceful place to be by the beach!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children.

My family just returned this afternoon from our wonderful week long stay at Kiawah. The minute we stepped in the house we left like we were at home, just with a much better view! Everything was spotless and you can tell it has been taken great care of. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook great, fresh seafood meals in almost every night. The 4 bikes and "cargo" trailer were a fabulous treat and it was an easy 5 or so minute ride to the beach. Also, the outdoor shower was wonderful! The sunset tower was under construction while we were there but there were 2 other decks on the marsh where we could watch the sunset in the evenings. We loved the house so much we already booked for week next summer! Thanks Howell family for sharing your perfect vacation home with our family!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Very nice house and I was particularly impressed with the modern kitchen and all the internet and audio/visual amenities. The bikes which were included were used often and added to the overall great value of the rental. We look forward to a return visit next year.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We spent a week in April in this house with our 4 children. Located in a very quiet place, away from the road, we really enjoyed the relaxing ambiance. The house is very well equipped, including DVD player, Ipod dock, wifi, an outside shower, a gas BBQ, fully equipped kitchen and so on. The (4) bikes were provided (+ a baby trailer). I broke a bike chain, the owner quickly called the bike shop and organized a repair in a day. The beach is at 10 mins by bike, Freshfield village with a very nice gourmet supermarket and several good restaurant are at 10 mins by car. I would really recommend this spacious house where you feel home with your family. I hope we can come back next year.Recommended for: Families with young children.

We have been to Kiawah 5 times and usually stay on the East side. With the new bike path to Freshfields we wanted to stay on the West side. This house was perfect. Great location--close to the beach, to Night Heron Park, to Freshfields, all an easy bike ride--which the owner supplied for you! We ate out most nights but the kitchen was well supplied if you wanted to stay in and cook. The owner went over and above to ensure an enjoyable stay. Highly recommend!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

About the owner: We looked at a LOT of houses all over Kiawah before we found this location. We love the proximity to the beach right down the street and the fact that our children can access bike paths to anywhere on the island without ever having to ride on a street. We also like our location in West Beach because we are only about 1.5 miles in from the main gate so the location is very convenient to shopping and restaurants. Having rented in other areas on Kiawah, we realize how inconvenient it is to have to travel across the island and beyond just to pick up a stick of butter or something else you need. The short drive over to Freshfields is great. With the new bike path to Freshfields Village, a bike trip over for ice cream and shopping has become a great new experience!
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes:
After visiting Kiawah Island for several years in connection with my wife's business seminars, we realized that our North Carolina beach property could not compare to this location. We were lucky enough to find this property for sale and poured a lot of effort into making it our own. We don't think you will find this to be a typical 'rental property' and hope you will love it as much as we do.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Don't worry about bringing lots of bikes because we supply 4 touring bikes and a child/beach chair trailer. We've also got boogie boards, skim boards, and beach chairs that fit in the trailer. The beach crossover is just four blocks away. We also love to climb up the steps of the watch tower just steps away from the house, have a cocktail and watch the sun set over the marsh and the beautiful birds that fly into the tops of the trees adjacent to the tower. With our house's location on the 7th fairway of Cougar Point Golf Course, we often walk over to the 6th green and watch golfers hit into that par three green. You can even watch them from the watch tower! Fun for young and old alike.
