Hemlock Cottage is in a charming setting in the village of Bacova, Bath County VA.
Bacova was built in the 1920's as a lumber mill town. In 1965 the village was completely restored. Hemlock Cottage is representative of a company house that has been carefully renovated and modernized. Bacova is located 10 minutes from The Homestead resort in Hot Springs, which offers 3 premier golf courses, riding, skiing, sporting clays and much more. And just 10 minutes away is Lake Moomaw, a gorgeous 12 mile lake with 44 miles of shoreline. Nestled in the George Washington National Forest, this lake fed by the Jackson River offers fishing, hunting, trails, swimming, beaches, and boating.
Within walking distance is a private 2 1/2 mile walking/hiking trail. Idyllic setting for fly-fishers, photographers, bird watchers, and artists. Elevated pasture with panoramic mountain views, scenic stocked trout stream with cascades and waterfall, picturesque gorge with overlook.

Looking for a place to relax and enjoy small town beauty and the great outdoors; this is it! Could not have asked for a friendlier owner, or a more relaxing place to stay. The trails, ponds and rivers were fantastic, the local areas had much to explore - not sure who loved it more, us or our labs!Recommended for: Girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Plenty of room. Very clean. Very nice and helpful owners. Had a beautiful time relaxing, on the beach and in the rental boats at Moomaw lake. The best restaurant we all liked was John's Steakhouse in Warm Springs. Sam Snead's tavern in Hot Springs is also good, but John's is better :-) C&O railroad museum in Clifton Forge is worth seeing. Also, Green Bank Radio Observatory and Cass scenic railroad are close by, in WV. Will try and go back!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Property was wonderful. Beautiful scenic surroundings. Wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy all there is to offer in the area. Owner was very prompt and courteous. We would recommend this to anyone visiting the area and would stay again.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children.

Very comfortable cottage in beautiful Virginia countryside. We had a lovely week enjoying trips to the various ' spring' towns and lazing on the quiet deck at Hemlock cottage. Enjoyed the Barn Hill walk. The Bunker tour at Greenbriers was great and loved the decor in the hotel itself. Scenic drive to Charlottesville and Monticello only takes just under 2 hours. Lots of great reading material at the cottage. Interesting local wildlife, including wild turkey. Hemlock cottage provided everything we needed (except for a hairdryer) for a a wonderful holiday. Would definitely recommend Hemlock cottage to anyone who enjoys lovely quiet countryside and a very well equiped, home from home. Many thanks to Pat.
