A spacious home with a porch and pool overlooking the inlet

We stayed in this very nice home 25 June-02 July, 2010 and will return for the same week in 2011. The bedrooms were very nice and the living rooms SPACIOUS and airy due to the many windows throughout the house. We are a group of 8 volleyball enthusiasts who had a very pleasant experience, in large part because of the surroundings. The early part of the week was very warm, and although the A/C worked very well, the pool was a godsend for those of us who wanted to spend lots of time out of doors. Since it was is only 1¼ blocks to the beach, it was always a pleasant dilemma as to whether it was a pool or a beach day. We found the home to be well maintained... probably difficult to do with a home so close to the water.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We rented this house in August, 2010, based on photos and the description. First of all, it is NOT an Ocean Front Villa, but a spacious, run down home, located on the river, and 2 blocks from the ocean. All the carpets, furniture, and accessories were very old and some broken and stained. Couldn't use the Master bathroom shower all week due to a leak, which leaked into the downstairs 1/2 bath. It was NOT as pictured or written about. The property was on the market when we rented, so maybe the owner didn't want to invest any more money to fix it up so it would meet normal standards. I expect this review to appear on your website. There are only positive reviews, never negative. I am trying to help your customers.
Owner response:I answered this review when it first came out and vrbo accepted my explanation. The house is in very good condition, one block from the beach and on the water. There was a leak from the shower which occurred just prior to the renter coming in and was tended to. The renter did not want anybody coming in to fix so she did not use the shower. There were two other showers in the house. The power switch went off and kicked the refrigerator off which subsequently came on. The renter complained that the refrigerator was not cold enough but the renter before her said it was fine and the appliance person who came to look at it said it was fine. Everybody who comes for vacation loves the house and finds it very comfortable clean and has a great time. This renter complained about everything. I gave her a reduced rate and I believe she wanted more money back. I have some outdoor furniture in the house so people with bathing suits can sit on it.

We really enjoyed our week at this beach house. The light and open spaces on the first floor accommodated our family and and friends nicely and the pool was so very refreshing after enjoying the salty waves.... We loved using the first floor alcoves to pursue our individual interests, or read to the kids. It was also fun to sit on the back deck and watch the fishing boats go through the drawbridge. We would love to come back and have another vacation here.
Recommended for:Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.
