I spent 4 days here with my 2 young children and parents for a conference at the Marriott hotel. The location was PERFECT - close to my meeting, close to metro, right near the zoo, lots of easy take-out for meals, great area to walk or jog around, SAFE. The living area with the full bed is LARGE so you'll have plenty of space to relax. The rental was clean, great water pressure and lots of hot water! Kitchen seemed well stocked although we got take-out (get Labanese per others' suggestions!). Rikke (owner) was very quick to respond to all of my inquiries and was very friendly. YOU SHOULD STAY HERE! You won't regret it!

My sisters and I enjoyed our visit to DC. We loved the location and felt very safe going places. We took a taxi to and back from Regan. Rode the metro, which was easy. We had never done it before. Woodley Park was beautiful. The place was clean and we had the comforts of home. The owner is VERY helpful. Hopefully, I will bring my husband the next time. Thank you.

The house was lovely and everything we needed was there at our convenience. The neighborhood is great and we never felt uncomfortable walking, even late at night. After long days of sightseeing, it was so nice to have a "home" to return to rather than a hotel room. Very close to a metro station. We didn't use our car the whole week we were there, and it was great to have a carport to park under. We would stay again and would recommend to friends and family without hesitation.

Family of 5 (boys 9,11 and grandma, too!) Could not have asked for a better location! Between 2 metros, across from the Zoo, fantastic park 1 block away for running, walking, or biking AND outstanding restaurants one street over. Rikki and her family are generous and very cool. The patio was great for wine and cheese nights, games with the kids, and early coffee/newspaper after a glorious early morning walk. Clean, spacious for our family, and had a great lay out. Thanks Rikki!

It was hard to get the owner to reply promptly via email before we went; she must be busy! When we got there, the keys weren't where she had said they would be, but it all worked out and the apartment has lots of room and is very close to the zoo and metro. It was very cold though, as there seemed to be only one heater at the front, but everything else worked great. We had to wash all the wine glasses to get lipstick stains off (and there is a substantial cleaning fee, which seems like a LOT!, for a 3 night stay). You can hear the children upstairs so don't expect a lie-in, as they run around early, but it was a good base to use for exploring DC.
Owner response:Lucy, I enjoyed having you as a guest and am glad that you enjoyed your stay. I agree that the location is an ideal base from which to explore DC. I take great pride in providing my guests with a perfect experience. If I was not able to respond immediately to your VRBO inquiry it was because my Blackberry stopped working for a few days while I was out of town, so I was unable to get to e-mails right away. I met your husband when he arrived and he told me that he would stay and let you in, so I did not leave the keys in the originally agreed-upon spot for that reason. As to your other concerns, had you notified me, all would have easily been addressed. There is a radiator in the front and a wall heater in the back. Both work well and are adjustable. Perhaps the radiator had been turned down for some reason. As to the wine glasses, I take pride in maintaining a spotless environment for my guests. The only reason why I might have missed the lipstick on the glasses is that folks who preceded you might have washed them incompletely and put them away in the cabinet and I failed to notice the lipstick before you arrived. I do check such things ordinarily, but I might have missed them this once. The cleaning fee is standard for DC. I hope that you stay with us again and feel free to contact me immediately if anything isn't perfect next time. I want my guests to be completely happy.

We couldn't have done better with our location for our visit to Washington. A short walk to the metro and we were at the White House in no time - it was perfect for our sightseeing trip. The area is lovely - safe and friendly area with some superb restaurants. Try the Lebanese - it was better than many we've been to in London! The appartment itself is wonderful - exactly as the pictures and description. It's bright and sunny with plenty of space and with everything we needed. The thick towels were a real luxury - so much better than most hotels. All in all the perfect place to relax after a day's hard walking. Rikke was charming and made us very welcome. It was a little disconcerting to find it difficult to make contact before we went, but we needn't have worried, all was fine. We would thoroughly recommend this place and will certainly book it again when we return to Washington.

We loved this rental property. We recently travelled to 3 large cities and this was the best place we stayed. The apartment is very spacious, 3 kids and 2 adults had plenty of room. The owner was nice and available. The apartment was very clean and tidy. The Metro was 2 blocks away with safe and secure access at all times.

My wife, daughter and I stayed here in the summer of 2010 and had a great time. We found the apartment to be clean, well furnished and exactly as advertised. It is in a great location- a quiet, safe neighborhood but a short easy walk to the Woodley Park Metro which is on the red line. It is a short Metro ride to DuPont Circle, Metro Center, Chinatown or Union Station. The apartment has comfortable beds, a well equipped kitchen, a nice shower with good water pressure, internet access, TV's with Direct TV and even a shared washer/dryer. It was very convenient to wash clothes after a hot sweaty day of sightseeing. There is a small grocery market nearby and many, many restaurants within a few blocks. We enjoyed the Woodley Park area and felt very safe walking back to the apartment even late at night. I would recommend this vacation apartment and would definitely consider staying there again when we return to Washington DC.

This apartment worked out very well for us! We didn't have a car but that was no problem. We used the Metro, went to the zoo, walked to the National Cathedral - terrific location! I'll also add that the unit was immaculate and there were some lovely extras like nice towels and a few key things in the pantry. We would not hesitate to return and to recommend it to friends.

Plenty of space for two teens and two adults. Easy access to the metro, a variety of restaurants, zoo, and Dupont circle. Very clean, bright, and friendly. We had a great time, hope to be back!

We stayed here in March for Spring Break with our 2 kids ages 7 and 9. It was just the perfect spot for all our sight-seeing activities. Everything you need is in the neighborhood and did I mention the zoo and pandas are 2 blocks away?!! The apartment was spotless and perfect for our family. We will definately come back again.

I stayed here with husband, doing work for Obama's transition team, and two small kids, for a week. Hubby went to work most mornings and I saw the sights with the kids. Superb location, very close walking distance to desirable metro line, zoo, and a Starbucks (mission critical). English basement style apartment was bright and clean, with spacious rooms, full eat-in kitchen, and two full beds. One drawback was some noise from owners' apartment above in evenings, but, having two kids, I'm sure we made plenty of our own. Owners were very accomodating and helpful. Overall, a very convenient and affordable way to spend a week in Washington with two small kids.

There were four of us staying at the aprtment (July 1 - 8, 2008. Very peaceful, modern, clean apartment and only two blocks away from the metro line which was a must for us as we had no car. This apartment was a nice place to rest during our numerous site seeing journeys. Rikki made sure that we were well taken care of by stocking the bathroom cabinet with all the essentials in case you forgot to pack some personal items such as shampoo, toothpaste, razors, etc. She also had an ample supply of brochures that give visitors a good understanding of the services available in the area as well as maps and related items that fully describe our nations capitol and surrounding points of interest. She did all this despite being very busy with her own family. The apartment is the place to stay if you desire a safe neighborhood and a peaceful easy feeling that surrounds the Woodley Park. Our favorite restaurant (Open City Coffee House) is very close to the Woodley Park/Zoo metro stop. Good value/good service just like the apartment. Buses and taxis are readily available from the nearby Wardman Marriot or Omni Shoreman should the metro line shedule not quite fit your arrival or departure schedules to the local airports. On a personal note one night we walked from the Rosslyn/Key Bridge to Georgetown for dinner and a movie and walked “home” via Wisconsin Avenue to Connecticut Avenue back to the apartment. On the 4th we walked from Rosslyn to the WWII Memorial via the Memorial Bridge to watch the fireworks from there. The hikes were long but the time together gave us plenty of opportunity to bond as a family as typically happens when the experience is so positive in so many ways. Two many to list but you'll understand if you stay here. Our visit to D.C. exceeded our high expectations and we‘ll be back. Thanks Rikki! We wish you and your family the best and remember Jeremiah 29:11. Rod, Linda, Lauren & Andrew

Great place, superb location, and owner is very nice to boot. Good restaurants nearby, drug/grocery stores as well. Metro stop, etc. All less than 5 min walk away. Beautiful old neighborhood as we. Felt very safe while there. I'd stay again. Having this "home" to come home to after a long day hoofing it around the DC sites made for a great time. Thanks so much.

We spent a week in the apartment and found it to be a fabulous base for visiting DC. It is spacious, comfortable, newly decorated, extremely well equipped and in a great location. It is only a very short stroll to the excellent zoo and to the Woodley Park area where there are a variety of good restaurants and bars as well as instant access to the metro and therefore just a short ride to all the attractions of the city. There really is no need for a car if you stay here. Rikke has gone out of her way to provide everything that a visitor could reasonably need - and then some more - and was friendly and helpful throughout. We would happily stay here again or recommend it to friends.
