Location: Grand Lake, Northwest, Colorado, USA (2 miles from town and about 2 hours from Denver)
Accommodations: House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 6)
Nearly new, treed and secluded with great lake and mountain views. All season vacation rental 4 miles from Rocky Mountain National Park's west entrance.
Cabin décor with all the amenities! This is a year round, extremely clean, fully furnished custom built home that you will love to make your own for a few days. Lots of space, windows and light - the wraparound deck is south facing with room for everyone to just hang out! Walking distance to Colorado River, Shadow Mountain Lake and Trail Ridge Marina.
The house is well stocked with everything you need to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable (high speed internet, fax machine, movies, games, paper products, laundry soap, flour, sugar, spices, coffee etc..). Just bring your jammies and your toothbrush!
Enjoy the beautiful Shadow Mountain lake views or a lightshow when the meteor showers are here (August/November) from an oversized hammock on the wraparound deck. It's not unusual to see Elk, Moose, Fox or Deer from the raised deck of this recently built (2003) custom lodge home.
Grand Lake is a quaint historic town that serves as the western entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) -- access to the park is a short 4 mile drive (minutes!), or take your bike to get there! There are many small locally owned shops to satisfy your shopping urge, and a putt-putt golf course in town. Grand Lake offers an active mountain experience in a quiet, stress-free location far removed from the hustle and bustle of other mountain resorts.
We hope you'll be our guest and discover our home and what the Grand Lake area has to offer you and your family. The Village of Grand Lake is in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, less than 2 hours west of Denver. The village sits on the shores of Grand Lake, overlooking Rocky Mountain National Park. With nearby man-made Shadow Mountain and Granby Reservoirs, the three recreational lakes offer more than 150 miles of scenic shoreline for hiking, fishing or camping.
If you just want to relax that's fine too, since our favorite thing to do is to simply sit on the deck with a glass of wine and savor the blue sky and panoramic views of Shadow Mountain Lake and the mountains beyond.
Grand Lake is one of Colorado’s first vacation communities and is no stranger to making folks feel at home with its charming lakeside village setting. Strolling down Grand Avenue (the main street) you get the feeling the frontier still exists as the western heritage is carefully preserved through wooden boardwalks and split lodgepole pine facades on the downtown buildings - look out for Ed Harris as you walk, he's our resident greeter to out-of-town guests. You can't miss him - he's the one with the gray beard, the guns (not loaded) and the stovepipe tophat.
While Grand Lake is known as a summer resort with its warm Colorado sun, the village makes for a perfect winter setting with even a slower pace and the snow-covered peaks providing a spectacular backdrop. Compared to the hustle and bustle of many winter vacation spots, the Village of Grand Lake is a quiet, peaceful winter wonderland where a thick blanket of snow changes the town into a pastoral scene. In fact, it is not uncommon to have a moose or two wander down the main street in the middle of the day! You can showshoe at the yearly snowshoe festival(mid January), take part in the Winter Festival (early February), head to some of tbe nearby resorts such as Winter Park or Steamboat for downhill skiing or try out your cross-country skills at Devil's Thumb Ranch or the YMCA nordic track trail systems. Devil's Thumb also offers horse drawn sleigh rides at certain times of the winter.
GOLF! Pole Creek, Grand Lake, SolVista and Grand Elk golf courses are all within a 15 minute drive. Hot Sulpher Springs (in the town of the same name) and Devil's Thumb Ranch in Fraser both provide excellent spa services year round including facials, massages and body wraps.
The town of Grand Lake and RMNP provide an abundance of both summer & winter activities. Golfing, boating, swimming, fishing, water-skiing, jet-skiing, downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, kayaking, hiking, horseback riding, wildlife viewing, along with the many restaurants and gifts shops you'll find in town, make this an ideal vacation rental.
This 3 BR/2BA vacation getaway features 3 levels ... the upper level is where you'll find the master bedroom retreat(King Aspen Log canopy bed) which has its own large walk-in closet, gas stove, TV, CD/DVD, whirlpool tub, granite counters, marble floors and large private balcony with rocking chairs with great views of the lake.
The middle level houses 2 other large bedrooms (Queen size beds in each), the Living room (vaulted ceilings) with a large gas fireplace, Chef's kitchen and Dining area combine to make a beautiful great room on this level. Great for entertaining and hanging out!
The main bath has a custom-made copper basin, shower pan and bronze fixtures and is finished off with beautiful travertine floors, shower walls and granite countertop. A large walk-in steam shower is just what the Dr. ordered after a day of playing outside. And the huge wraparound deck on this level gives you spectacular views of the lake and surrounding mountains. There is a 2 person hammock, large patio dining set for 6, a private hot tub on the deck, an outdoor heater for those chilly nights and a stainless BBQ gas grill.
The lower level houses the 2 car garage, laundry and gym. Extremely large driveway for Boat/Trailer parking. NO RV's PLEASE.
2 miles to downtown Grand Lake; 4 miles from RMNP entrance; 20 miles to Winter Park; 1 hour to Estes Park (via Trail Ridge Road); and about 1.5 hours to Steamboat Springs. 90 miles (about 2 hours) from Denver.

We saw moose, elk and the stars were amazing with so few lights around! We even saw the Milky Way. The kids loved the whirlpool tub for bath time and being so close to town and the lake was just great. Thanks for having us! Dan, Jill, Emily and Ethan
