This is a classic Minnesota cabin. Fabulous beach. Crystal clear water. Bald eagles and herons. Tall pines. The kind of place you envision when you hear "northwoods cabin." And it is only two and a half hours from the Twin Cities.
We love this cabin - the hand-hewn logs, the fieldstone fireplace, the beams in the main room, the loft with its little windows. Built in 1946, it's a place with history and one that's been cared for through the years. We love the scale of the buildings relative to their surroundings - they rest on 2 acres of land and the cabin itself is respectfully situated near the lake.
The cabin can sleep up to 8 comfortably plus two more in sleeping bags. There are two bedrooms, each with a queen bed. Upstairs in the open air loft, you will find 2 twin beds under one rafter and a queen futon snuggled under the other.
In the summer, one of our favorite spots is out on the screened porch. We like to listen to the peepers in early summer and later, the hum of the cicada. There’s a lovely cross breeze that moves the air about. And plenty of seating for late night chats with friends and family. For quieter moments, relax on the couch with a good book and let the ceiling fan keep you cool.
Outside, enjoy 275 feet of lake shore. There are no rocks, so kick off your shoes and walk carefree. The lake has gradual elevation into the water so you can be watchful, not worried, about your little ones on the beach. Children will love digging in the sand, fishing and jumping off the dock.
There is plenty of space in the yard for a game of Frisbee or soccer.
When you’re ready to venture further afield, head over to Mission Township Park and enjoy the short biking/walking trail or the charming park built under a canopy of pines. There’s a grocery store in Cross Lake, just 5 miles away, and a liquor store too.
Bring your bikes, pick up the Paul Bunyan trail at Lake Hubert and head into Nisswa for some summer fun: turtle races on Wednesday afternoons; lots of shops; Rainy Days bookstore, one of the finest independent bookstores you’ll ever enjoy; ice cream and coffee shops; breakfast, you name it. Enjoy a meal at one of many area restaurants or golf at one of the renowned nearby courses which, when combined, provide 450 holes waiting to be played.
At the cabin, there's only one rule: "Everybody does what they want." It's an easy rule to keep and ensures that each one of you has a good time!

We had a marvelous time at this property for 11 days in June. The cabin is charming and rustic while at the same time fully equipped with heat and air conditioning, dishwasher, washer and dryer and wireless internet. The beach is ideal for kids -- sandy and gradual slope -- our grandkids particularly enjoyed hangin out on and jumping off of the Relaxation Station floatation device. They caught sunfish right off the dock and we were sereh=anded by loons every evening. The sleeping arrangements were ideal for 4 adults and the three kids got a big kick out of the sleeping loft (two twins and a double tucked under the eaves of the cabin). We enjoyed a big fire in the pit on the beach every night. The cabin was very clean, the linens and towels are nice and the kitchen was fully equipped. Curt was very responsive and returned my many emails promptly when I had questions about the property. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we're already planning our return next year. I bet it's glorious in the fall! Thanks for a great memory for us and our grandchildren. We highly recopmmend this property. Bob and Betsy from Charlotte

My wife and I spent her 40th birthday at this cabin. She fell in love with all the nooks and crannies and commented many times, "These people take great care of this place." We had everything we needed and really enjoyed the break from TV. We didn't get to swim but the beach is perfect and the location to Crosslake is excellent. Thanks Curt for your great hospitality!

We loved the screened in porch! What a well designed cabin. Excellent rooms and kitchen. Perfect time of relaxing. The beach front is wonderfully maintained, with wonderfull little towns and parks all around the area. Thanks for the great week!

We had a great time, the cabin was very clean and we really enjoyed the beach. The large sand area with the shallow grade into the water was perfect for the family. We laughed so much when the adult children crawled into the loft area to sleep! The kids had such a fun time in the toy area in the basement with the trains and cars. We also enjoyed the porch area, playing games and looking out at the lake through all the windows. We hope we can come back again some time. We had a wonderful time staying here. There was an eagle haning out in front of the cabin all week. Our 8 year old had a great time fishing, and there were plenty of games inside the cabin to keep curuious minds busy. At first we discovered no television, but you really dont need it, we spent many days exploring the surrounding towns when we were not relaxing at the cabin. The fishing was excellent, cabin immaculate and clean. A very quiet and comfortable stay. Thank you

Our family of 4 plus grandma had a wonderful time up in this great cabin. It's perfect for kids because the beach is sandy and flat, and doesn't drop off into deep water. We could relax without worrying that our kids would disappear under the waves! The wireless internet rocked (I'm a web geek), and the porch has 3 glorious sides of windows. The cabin is authentic...definitely not a fake wood thing.

We had an awesome time! Horshoe is a great lake for swimming, water skiing, tubing, and jet skiing. We loved the cabin. It's in great shape and was very clean when we got there. It's in a prime location on the lake and close to Cross Lake, Breezy, Nisswa, and Brainerd. We fit 2 adults and 8 teenagers in the cabin comfortably. We hope to be back in the future. Curt, thanks for sharing your wonderful cabin with us. Our young boys loved playing on the huge beach, floating around in the water on the raft, exploring the lake and watching the fish from the pier. We enjoyed fires in the firepit almost every night, and loved reading and enjoying the sounds and breeze from the lake in the enclosed porch after the kids went to bed. In the afternoons we had a great time exploring the many shops and restaurants nearby. The cabin was very clean, spacious and well cared for. We felt right at home! We hope to come back again some day!!
