Bass Lake house description
RELAX AND REJUVENATE! The air quality is clear and Fall is in the air! This is a perfect, uncrowded, peaceful time to explore this gorgeous section of the western Sierras.
Fall and Winter are very special here. The mountains are painted with golden colors, the air is crisp and there are no crowds. It's our favorite time of year!
The tranquil beauty of this area is the perfect recipe for relaxation and rejuvenation.Come enjoy the spectacular wonders of Yosemite National Park, Bass Lake and the Ansel Adams wilderness. Thousands of acres of hiking trails, clear mountain streams and lakes within a short driving distance from the property welcome you all year. The peace of this area is a perfect setting for family gatherings, personal retreats and leisurely exploration. At all seasons of the year it provides a lovely home to return to after a day of skiing, snow boarding, snow mobile riding or sledding in the nearby snow parks, wilderness areas and ski resorts at Sierra Summit and Badger Pass.
This lovely mountain retreat is a perfect nesting place to stay and recharge after a glorious day in the mountains. Many people choose to just stay here during the day and relax on the deck or in the spacious great room and enjoy the natural setting away from the busyness of the city.
It is a beautiful custom 1200 square foot house located adjacent to the Sierra National Forest. It is 3 miles from Bass Lake and 23 miles from Yosemite National Park. The land is a wildlife sanctuary for deer, silver foxes and other wonderful creatures. There are no hiking trails on the property itself. There are many trails within short driving distance. There is a book at the house that gives information on recreational activities in the area.
There is custom stonework behind the wood stove depicting a mountain sunrise with trees and clouds made by a world class stone mason.
The kitchen has granite counter tops. The bathrooms both have dual shower heads. There are 2 bedrooms. Each Bedroom has a queen sized bed.
The kind of air conditioning in the cabin is a water evaporation cooler commonly called a 'swamp cooler'. It works well and is very refreshing unless it is humid and very hot outside. Then, it cools the house down but not as well as a regular 'air conditioner'. It will typically cool the house to about 15 degrees cooler than the outside temperature during these hot (80 to 100 and over) summer days. The nights are cool even in the hottest weather so it's lovely to sleep with the windows open and breathe in the pines and healing mountain air.
The house is nestled among pines, oaks and manzanitas with cedar log pillars at the front entry and forming the landscaped gardens.
It is a sacred site perfect for personal creative retreats, solitude and recreation.

Excellent rental property. We have stayed in a number of VRBO rentals and while all the others were satisfactory, this one was the best. The cabin is pristine, the location is very good and the facilities meet all your needs. This rental is especially good for seniors and couples who travel together. Seeing a coyote was the highlight of the trip. Even though we were there during an exceptional heat wave, the cabin was very comfortable due to an efficient cooling system. Highly recommended.

Yosemite was stunning
Yosemite was stunning with its colors amidst the beautiful Sierras and Bass Lake gave us a gentle day to fish and explore in our kayaks. The animal came to visit at your home which was such a treat. I must tell you that the design of your vacation home is impressive. The use of space, for the practical reasons as well as the feeling created, was so well thought out, planned and enjoyed. I spent alot of time marveling at the unique detail throughout. Wisdom House will certainly be on our list for a return to your area.

My wife and I paid a visit to the cabin and found it to be a very pleasant stay! The cabin was very clean with plenty of cooking area and tools. It is definitely feature-rich cabin if you like to cook your own meals The bathrooms and bedrooms were spacious and the common area was very open and cozy. Plenty of deck space to enjoy the outdoors. I highly recommend this cabin to anyone who would like a fantastic vacation "away from things" but within a reasonable distance of Yosemite.

Would love to come back again!
We had a wonderful visit. It was great to arrive back here every day to relax. We felt very at home here. We saw two deer each day. It was cool to observe them. The stars at night are spectacular. Thank you for the suggestion of Bass Lake. We rented a wave runner. We also hiked some in Yosemite, absolutely amazing views. Thanks again. Would love to come back here again.

Sitting here on your beautiful deck.
Sitting here on your beautiful deck for the final morning - I hate to leave. We spent every morning and late into the evening on this deck enjoying the animals that passed through. We spent long days in Yosemite and also enjoyed hiking the Willow Creek Trail and always enjoyed "coming home" to your wonderful home. One night we tried L Cabana for dinner down the road - great! We will have wonderful family memories of our stay here. Thank you!

We really appreciated the quiet, relaxing setting. Calm mornings on the deck observing the animals, chill out time in the evenings after strenuous days. A comfortable, homey house. My favorite kitchen utensil- the wooden hand!! really want one. Many Thanks.

Perfect Getaway for our 31st anniversary
Very Peaceful and relaxing- We enjoyed the tranquil setting; it was a perfect getaway for our 31st anniversary. We had a fire in the woodstove and drank cups of tea in the late afternoon. The kitchen was great for preparing meals-love the gas stove! (if we ever replace ours, we're getting one like that!) We really liked the stone/tile work throughout the cabin, and the knotty pine ceiling and kitchen cabinets. All lovely touched that added warmth and character to the home. Would love to return and bring friends or family to enjoy it here with us.

Love the double showerheads!Guest comment entered by owner
Love the double showerheads!
Had a wonderful 3 day/4 night stay in the cabin. We did the Willow Creek Trail ( kind of hard to find) and the Lewis Creek Trail ( beautiful, well-marked and snowy!!) We did a nice drive to Redinger Lake and the Center of California. Tried to get to Nelder Grove of Sequoias but needed chains so turned back. All in all very peaceful at the cabin. Love the double showerheads! Love the fireplace. We want to come back with friends. Thanks, Mary

Coming to Wisdom Retreat was absolutely "awesome"!
We joined our Son's family for a few days to visit Yosemite National Park. We, my husband Chris and I, live in Kent in United Kingdom, and this trip to America was a first for me. Coming to Wisdom Retreat was absolutely "awesome"- The house and its surroundings were spectacular and I have loved every minute here. If I could I'd come here time after time, again. Thank you for a lovely, comfortable and very "unforgettable" stay in your beautiful home.
