Paradise Found!

My wife and I stayed at Finiterre from Apr. 30 to May 13, 2012. We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Eleuthera and found Finiterre to be even nicer than expected! Was clean, well stocked, very comfortable, and very private. We really appreciated the "extras" - the cooler, beach chairs, beach umbrellas, kayaks, outdoor shower for rinsing off the sand, the garden hose for rinsing our snorkel gear, etc. The deck was perfect with just enough shade from a stategically placed palm tree, and with a picture perfect view of the ocean. We swam and snorkeled right out front, but also enjoyed the central location for exploring many of the other beaches. We thought the beach at Finiterre was one of the nicest on the island for long walks.

WHAT A GREAT PLACE II

I hate to do this but in reference to the last review, this place was great but I have to comment on a few issues with the owners. 2 weeks before we left I e-mailed the owners asking directions to the house - they never responded. I had to get the direction from the caretakers who live on Eleuthera. Also its been 3 months since we returned from our trip and I have e-mailed and sent letters to the owners multiple times asking to return our security check. I have yet to hear back from them. They did not cash the check so I had to put a stop payment on it . Very unprofessional and I would not deal with them again.

This was our second time to Eleuthera and we will keep coming back. Finiterre has everything you need. It is clean and very well kept. The view is stunning from the back porch. The beach is great, you will be the only one on the beach. I can't say enough about how nice the house is. The caretakers Reta and Andrew take great care of this house. When we return to the island we will be staying at Finiterre.

It’s hard not to sound repetitive this far along in the book, but here it goes. Our group comprised of two 25 year olds on reading week, two 30 year olds with a 2 year old in need of a holiday and tow 65 year olds enjoying their retirement and wondering how their kids could still be needing money for ice cream so many years down the line. Neeedless to say, Finiterre has met all of our various needs, from a well equipped kithcen, incredible maps, bikes, satellite cable to catch the Olympics in Vacouver, to beautiful grounds. Our highlights from our time here include being the only people at Whitelands beach, takeing the bikes down the road for an incredible snorkeling at Gut Island, and being first in line for fresh bread and cilantro pesto at the Island Farm on Friday morning. Thank you Andrew and Reta for your heartfelt hospitality, local lore and coconut 101 course (they were amazing). Our trip has ended but the memories will last. Cheers and thanks again!Tim & Dawn, Dan & Lindsay, Duncan & Janet Allen….CANADA

What a stay! The weather, the house, the view, the beach, the fish, the snorkeling all were magical. We caught several fish right off the beach. Discovered Beach House Restaurant and Tapas Bar on the coast road and went there 5 times. Beautiful setting, great food and friendly staff and cute beach dog named “Patron”! Go exploring if you are adventurous and have a 4 wheel drive. Head down any road not marked as private or with a home name-beautiful beaches and vistas at the end of many. I don’t want to go home.

Goodbye Finiterre! We had a great week here. Explored the island from top to bottom. Really enjoyed Rainbow Bay, Club Med Beach, Preachers Cave beach and Twin Cove. It was comforting to know Andrew and Reta were only a phone call away - lovely people.

With this trip being our first experience of the Bahamas we stayed in Nassau for a few days and then flew out to Eleuthera to stay at Finiterre.I have never experienced anything like the hospitality we received all over the island but we have to give a special mention to Andrew and Reta (the managers). If you are looking for stores, resorts and casinos then you stay in Nassau which is a hybrid of Las Vegas and Puerto Vallarta; but if you are looking for peace and tranquility with the opportunity to create your own adventures and meet the "locals" then Eleuthera is the place for you. The island is long and narrow with Harbour Island at the north, Governor's Harbour in the middle, and Bannertown at the south. Each end provides something different and it makes sense to stay somewhere in the middle. You can't go all the way to Eleuthera and not go site seeing; but once you have been seen all there is to see you will realize that there is nowhere better than the deck at Finiterre. To stay at Finiterre (North Palmetto Point)is to be on a beach where we saw three people in ten days; to sit on the deck and enjoy the million dollar view and read a book; to sit in front of the TV and veg out and still enjoy the view; to go to sleep listening to the ocean; and on and on (sigh). So many places to go and so many things to see but all will be compared to our stay at Finiterre.

We have had a fabulous vacation exploring the island and just plain relaxing. The people were very friendly. Took in 2 softball games - it was the Men’s National Softball & Keith being an umpire was extremely entertained (me too!). Savanah Sound won! We visited the Revival Baptist Church on Sunday. At at 4 Points Restaurant and the food was great. Unfortunately Tippy’s that everyone was talking about was not open. We’ll have to catch it next time. Finiterre is a beautiful home and view is breathtaking especially at night where you can see all the stars. Thanks to Andrew and Reta who were especially thoughtful. We really enjoyed the coconut Andrew. God bless you both and if you every find yourselves in Calgary we’d love to show you around. We saw a praying mantis and I especially liked watching the little lizards - named them Fred, Barney, Wilma, Betty & Pebbles. Make sure you listen to Reita and keep the doors closed in the morning and evening - we did get eaten alive by the no-see-um’s but we survived. Thanks for everything, we won’t soon forget Eleuthera!Sheri & Keith Davies, Calgary Alberta, CanadaPS…watch out for Bert and Ernie - the 2 tarantulas that were on the deck the last night here!

Our first trip to Eleuthera was amazing. Finiterre was the perfect place for our stay as we enjoyed the central location and the fantastic water and beach. The water toys and bicycles were put to good use daily. We loved the kayaks and snorkeling right in front of the house. There was no need to travel far…Finiterre’s beach was among the best. We truly enjoyed Lighthouse Beach (what a ride…take it slow and easy!) and Ten Bay Beach. The waters were too choppy at the other beaches while we were here, but we were truly amazed by the shapr contrast in water at the Glass BridgeThe people of Eleuthera were friendly and accommodating. I enjoyed hearing Muriel Cooper’s stores about her family and travels. Mos importantly we were thrilled to have the opportunity to meet Jeri…thank you so much for letting us stay at yoru h ome. And, Andrew and Reta were the best! They worried about us when the electricity went off and were here immediately whenever we had a need. We are forever grateful to them for making our stay so enjoyable. We’ll miss the rain and thunderstorms, heat and humidity, bumpy roads, power outages. But what we’ll miss the most is the relaxing atmosphere, incredible view, and wonderful hospitality of the people of Eleuthera!. Thanks again for everything!Gary, Patty, & Kevin Denny and Kyle Edwards, Lee’s Summit, MO

This was our first trip to the islands! Wow, the water is incredible; swimming, snorkeling, wading and just watching the fish…..and kayaking! Unfortunately Daniel (age 6) was bitten by some type of bug on our 3rd day here. Eye swelled shut, little Benadryl and after 3 days he was back to normal but it took the wind out of his sails for a few days. He even says that he would be back. Thank you for sharing your home!! Thank you Rita for meeting us when our flight came in late. Thank you Andrew for showing us how to cut up a coconut, yum, yum! God Bless! How can anyone say there’s no God when you see the water, the fish and creaturs all around. We had such a relaxing time. Only one creature in the house, a tiny crab and Andrew took him outside. Watching my last sunset here at FiniterreBut what great memories! The Gibsons, James, Jennifer, Andrew, Daniel -- New Castle, DE

Our first trip to Eleuthera and it was wonderful. Such a beautiful place! The house was perfect! We will return. We hate to leave, but the good news is we extended our stay another 4 days and will relocate to another spot. It won’t be as perfect as this house but we will enjoy the island. We had a great time. Jeri,Our trip has come to an end (2/28 - 3/7/2009). Finiterre is a perfect house! Great location and a beautiful beach. It was great to sleep listening to the waves crashes below us. This vacation was truly an adventure. We explored Eleuthera all the way from Lighthouse Beach to Harbour Island, but we liked the central portion best—it was like we were coming home when we saw the signs for Palmetto Point. Our favorite beaches were Club Med, Ten Bay and Lighthouse beaches. We loved the new Beach House Café and Captain Jacks for dining. The Friday night Fish Fry in Governor’s Harbour is a must too. We were surprised by how windy it was most days—but everyone explained it was a cold front passing through. It still beat the -10 degrees it was at home! We quickly figured out if it was windy in one place, try another—and Eleuthera has plenty of places to find!We hope to bring our four boys back with us some day. Thanks for a wonderful vacation!Doug and Laura Musselman from New Cumberland, PA

Unfortunately the end of our time here has come. It was our second time on Eleuthera and we will certainly return. We had a wonderful time at the beaches; bonefishing, snorkeling, and just plain sitting in the sun. It was truly wonderful visiting. For anyone reading this, make sure to ask Andrew for some of his homegrown tomatoes, they are amazing. Wishing we had come for two weeks. Toby, Sarah and Noah Fedder, New Hampshire…. Reta and Andrew, thank you for your truly gracious hospitality. We hop to return again soon, Fondly, Sarah.

This was our first trip to Eleuthera and it was a blast. We explored from the North to the south, just not enough days here to see it all. We explored Lighthouse Beach with the awesome pink sand. Club Med Beach, TenBay Berach and Twin Cover Beach were wonderful. Our favorite places to eat were Tippy’s, Mate & Jenneys, Captain Jacks, and Bucanneers in Governors Harbour. We found a great deli - just past Tippys at Pineapple Fields called Banks Road Deli ) greate meats, cheeses and breads and souveniers). --- Also rented snorkel gear here for pretty cheap. A great place for fresh veggie was Island Farm. Also enjoyed the Friday night Fish Fry in Cupds Cay/Governors harbour. Also went to Preachers Cave and caves in Rock sound. Island Made Gift Shop )rock Sound) and Dornelle’s Shop (G. Harbor) great shop for souveniers. So much to do but not enough time. We also celebrated Casey’s 30th birthday here and have a new addition to the family on the way.Now we have to go back to ice/snow and below freezing temps. The house and cottage were great! And Andrew & Rita were very great, nice and always making sure we had everthing we needed! This island is truly paradise. Dear Jer and Paul, Rita and Andrew, My daughters and I have enjoyed every moment here at your home. It is so lovely and well equipped. Living at the coast in Delaware we don’t have the beautiful water to snorkel. We had a hurricane scare early on but it fizzled out over Cuba. We thought November would be O.K. Reta was so helpful when our phone service was out and left her cell phone in case of emergency. She and Andrew were so nice. We would love to come again. Warm regards, Mrs. Leonard and Daghters Jan and Missy, OceanView, DEPost Script -- we had dinner our last night here at Tippys and it was fantastic! We highly recommend it! Walk the Beach!

Love letter to Finiterre: Such a seductress you are! Independent and proud, holding your ground at the edge of the cliff. Courageous in the midst of rage, contemplative in the midst of calm, loyal only and always to the colors of the sun and the sea. Many you greet, not doubt, harbor the fantasy of capturing your heart, but in the end, your lovers say goodby and turn away from your mild embrace to leave you alone as perhaps you most deserve in your joyful dance with the butterflies and bumblebees gliding above all the waves. Filled by your kisses, Finiterre----- Deborah & Hans

Well the time we most dread has come and that’s leaving your beautiful home and island. This was our second trip but our first of many more….our hearts ache. Thanks to Rita and Andrew for giving us our privacy but being there with a warm smile and hearts to answer any question. We had and help us whenever needed. This island got under our skin much more on this trip than the last. If you see water stains on this page it’s from tears. We are sad yet feel so fortunate to have discovered this place. Is this what heaven’s like? Make sure to go to Tarpum Bay for fish and check out D&D’s restaurant. The best conch salad and fish sandwiches ever and reasonably priced. Tell Donovan we say hello! I envy who reads this because you are still here. Rebecca and Kevin, Tavares, FL

Great relaxing trip. Saw a ray (manta? Sting?) right in our cove. Also a truly huge spider outside the house. There’s a funny , sad bird that hangs around. Great snorkeling with lots of fish. We’re leaving baby oil and advice from a friend who used to live here -- coat your legs with baby oil to keep the sand fleas from biting. Works grat. It also takes tar off your feet. We only ran into tar once, but glad to have the baby oil. Andrew and Reta were wonderful as promised. Thank you , Leslie, Martin, Samantha & Jeremiah.

This was a celebration of our 30th wedding anniversary. Just several days before we were to leave it became possible for our daughter Laurie and her husband Michael (married in 6-07) to join us. What a gift!. We explored for 6 glorious days. Ten Bay, Rainbow, Paw Paw, French Leave, Harbor Island, Spanish Wells, Lighthouse, Queens Baths, Ocean Hole. The weather was glorious. A little too rough on the Atlantic side near the hosue for recreation but we tried. We had hoped to find better snorkeling but its OK, the beaches were truly beautiful. We hope all who visit this lovely home are blessed because they came. In case you ever doubt how much the Lord loves you consider that His thoughts of you are infinite. Beyond what you could ever count or measure. I thought about this as I gazed on the pink sand beaches! How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they wouldOutnumber the grains of sandPsalm 139:17-18aTerry and Vernon Pilon

The search for true peace and bliss ends when your toes touch the sand on the heavenly beaches of Eleuthera. I have really experienced beauty and kindness here on this island. There is always laughter heard from mouths of the locals as your journey to explore each settlement takes each of us to wonderful snorkeling opportunities. I loved the differences that each secluded beach seem to have….the calm warm waters to float in and the crazy waves to laugh and play in.Jeri you are truly an angel and a master at creating the BEST opportunity for fun, love and healing. These homes are filled with such special magic that only you can provide -- even Christmas trees to help us feel cozy and special. I will miss the yummy meals of conch, lobster, fish chowder and icy cold Kalicks! I will dream of swimming with starfish, stingrays, parrot fish, coral reef and remember laughing with my new friends. I WILL BE BACK! Deb from CA

This was our 2nd trip to Eleuthera and we really enjoyed staying at Finiterre. We will be back next year! Reta and Andrew were great and we enjoyed our chat with them. Our only suggestion is to read the house rules. On the coffee table where this book is kept, we found alive scorpion on the table. It was hiding the news paper I had just moved. We also saw a harmless snake on the path to the beach so keep the screen doors closed. Don’t worry about the gecko’s since you will “save $300 on your car insurance! As said, we will be backKenny, Tom and Fred

There are not many places as relaxing as staying at Finiterre. The view is wonderful sitting and reading on the deck is very relaxing. We love finding food at all the different kinds of stores “hunting for groceries” as Jeri called it. The view and swimming on the different beaches is great!. We will be back. The Yuens, ILThe houses, the flowers, the palms, the beaches, the food, the people, the views: What more does anyone need? Eleuthera and in particular Finiterre and the cottage are heaven on Earth. Be sure to explore --- even though the beach out front is great for swimming and snorkeling -- there are so many beaches waiting for you all along both sides of this island. Check out the book “Elusive Beaches of Eleuthera” in Finiterre - getting to some of the them is half the fun.Conch salad is a favorite treat, all the food is especially good because well……just look around…..it’s served with a view! Relaxation is what we came for--it’s what we found---Thank you Jeri, Andrew and Reta. See you next year!Judy C, Mattawan, MI

We have been to Eleuthera several times and by our scale Finiterre is at the top of the comfort and beauty list. All the comforts of home in a very rustic island. We loved the decorating -- truly coastal living. The local residents were generous with recommendations for must-see ventures. We rented a jeep for some rustic beach searches and were rewarded. The airport beach and the naval base beach were great snorkels. Really though the snorkeling out front was breathtaking. Our first dinner out was a the Country Café--great burgers and fried conch. So close almost as fast as a drive through bus oh so much tastier. The trip to lighthouse beach was fabulous. Took advantage of the trip and picked up some treats to take home -- lobster. Thanks again. We will book again.

The view is breathtaking and i spent almost every morning having my hot chocolate (and the occcasional baileys added to it) and raisin toast (from GH bakery).....it doesn't get better than that! My guests loved the t-shirts...a very nice touch..and we especially loved the beachtowels! They were big and fluffy and great for the beach to enjoy the sun and water! We had some visitors in the house from time to time including a couple of frogs, the odd spider, and a few gheko's...we even had a big hermit crab knocking on the patio doors....but it added to the island excitment....and all very well expected!!! Plus i think we were the ones letting them in and the kids visiting certainly got a kick out of. Kinda reminded me of back home where i grew up...but we had mice, salamanders, crickets, and squirrels!!! Rheta and Andrew were the best....honestly the nicest people ive ever met...and ive met quite a few! They were always willing to help out...and it was nice that we didn't need them too much...nothing broke, everything worked...absolutely stress free! So now ive got 5 weeks left on this beautiful island...and from what i hear from back home...i picked a good winter to be away! Next year Lane and i are off to either Crooked island or Exumas for more exploration....and hopefully be back to Eleuthera the following year. Thank you both very much for allowing me to rent your beautiful home! Take care for now! Jo-Ann and Lane Luck **This set of guests stayed at Finiterre for 5 weeks and this was an email she sent me.

We arrived at beautiful Finiterre on Jan 6, having left grey dismal and cold Bemus Point, NY. The house was more than we could have hoped for. Everything a person could need or use was available. The small gift was a nice touch. We marvelled at the view by day and watched the stars and meteors by night. We had a chance to unwind from our hectic jobs and just have fun. Andy and Rita were two of the most wonderful people we have had the pleasure of meeting. We didn't want to leave.....so we have decided to return. Thanks, Jim and Sharron

November 9-18What a fantastic trip! Your homes are beautiful. We hope to stay again when Finiterre is ready for guests. We found the people of Eleuthera warm and friendly. The beaches are amazing -- 10 bay beach, Club med and Rainbow Bay -- our favorites---all seen while just wading. Tarpum Bay for fresh fish is a must. We bought enough lobster to freeze and take home with us to enjoy for the holidays. Andrew and Reta were very attentive and caring. After traveling all through the Caribbean, we have found the island of Eleuthera truly unspoiled and the way we wish most islands could stay. Great souvenirs at “Island Made” in Gregorytown. A vehicle was a must --so much to see! Fish Fry in Governors Harbour great - wish we could get the conch salad at home. There is so much we ill miss -- so I guess we’ll be back soon! On July 20th, 2006 we took advantage of a break in the guests and closed Finiterre for a few months of re-fit and freshening up. We were nervous making changes to Finiterre because our guest's comments were so positive over the past several years, however Finiterre re-opened November 9th to rave reviews and she is waiting to enchant upcoming guests. I'm sure you will all enjoy her new look! Some of our projects included removing any standard 8' ceilings and lofting the ceilings using whitewashed cedar overhead. We installed all new ceiling fans, interior doors, replaced much of the trim work and installed several new windows. Each room was given a fresh coat of paint in true Caribbean colors and new window treatments were installed. We look forward to giving our guests a vacation getaway where memories to last a lifetime will be created. Thank you to all who have made Finiterre such a success and we anxiously await future comments to share.

We had a blast here at Finiterre celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. We totally relaxed and unplugged from the world! We loved exploring the island, our favorite things besides the beautiful beach here were Ten Bay, Harbour Island, Ben Bay-amazing but hard to get to! We had great food at Dolcevita, Tippy's Unique, Nate and Jenny's and the bakery in Governors Harbour. We loved Andrew and Reta - they were so kind and helpful. Andrew took us fishing at the beach - we got to see him catch a lobster! We had beautiful weather and incredible starry nights! We had a nice bike ride on our last morning here. All in all this trip was everything we could have hoped for! Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with us! Sincerely, Karen and Lance F.

We enjoyed trips to Ten Bay (awesome to see rays, fish, etc) and Tarpum Bay for Snapper an dConch. We even learned a lesson grom getting bumped from an Atlantic wave snorkeling and stepping on our first urchin, OUCH! We loved a sunset dinner with Dr. Seabreeze at Rainbow Inn. Snorkling and kayking ov the reef were amazing. Thanks to lovely Reta and Andrew. What a Bahamian blessing they were! Loving this beach! Tom and Gretchen S.

Our stay at Finiterre was so much fun. We had so many fun experiences all around the island. Even the best snorkeling trip we saw was at Ten Bay Beach. The water was so amazing and so were the fish. But if you go there watch for all the jellies - Also we went to Muriels Bakery and got cinnamon rolls and fried chicken. Everyone was so nice on the sialdn and Andrew and Rita were so....helpful. The house was great and if you every found yourself doing nothing, the board games were a favorite. On one of the last days we took the kayaks out - it was a lot of fun and we saw lots of fish. Thanks for everyone who made our stay at Eleuthera pleasurable. Katie S.

Fun Finiterre - My family and I loved this trip for a number of reasons. Not only did we love this trip for the awesome memories we will take with us of people we met and places we've been. Don't ever be afraid to aks someone for directions or such, just do it. The best thing to do is get out and explore places like Ten Bay, Ocean Hole, Preachers Cave, and so much more you can find. Like I said, make your own memories. Unique's Tippy's Muriels and Rainbow Inn were all excellent places to eat, although Tippy's pizza was simply divine! Muriels Bakery was great cinnimon rolls and fried chicken, but I know she has much more that I recomend. Jus relax, kick back, and enjoy your vacation (hopefully as much as I did). Thanks for all you do Andrew and Rita. Loving this house, Emily S.

Jerri, Andrew and Reta, Thank you for making this vacation so very wonderful. We are so appreciative of this beautiful home...and view!...and your helpfulness. We've enjoyed eating at Tippy's and other local places in the advertisements. One of our favorite snorkels was at Kemps Bay, you have to walk on brown coral but the snorkeling is fun! We found sand dollars and a few starfish diving in 5-6 ft. waters at Ten Bay, snorkeling-fish at Lighthouse. Enjoyed visiting with charming and freindly local people. We used the topographic maps and others even though they are old to find our way around the island. For a good home cooked meal, ask around for the Blue Room in GH 332-2736, nice food and conserves. Explore, live and love, Bob and Barb S and Charles. PS, I have a pic of the visitng gecko in the living---I loved it!!

Our stay at Finiterre was fabulous! We came for our honeymooen and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Our fist evening here we had dinner at Unique. It was great but there was no A/C. Bug repellant was a must this week because of all the moisture and humidity. Renting a car for a couple of days was a great idea. We drove to Surfers Beach, which was nice and had lunch at The Cove - we definitely recommend dining therea t aleast once. It is worth the drive up the island. The views are amazing and the food and service was wonderful. Right here in Palmetto Point the Country Cafe was a great place to stop and get a cold soda or ice cream. We took advantage of the bikes and kayaks and the baskets were great for transporting small items from Millards grocery. Our last night here we even kayaked over to Unique for dinner. Our favorite, most memorable thing we did was drive North and take a water taxi over to Harbour Island. There we rented a golf cart and drove around the island and shipped which there is a lot to do there. There is a great gift shop in Gregorytown called Pam's Island Made Gift Shop. There are unique gifts and authentic souveniers there. We did a lot of things this week, but we also spent time in the house. We made several meals here, played board games, readn and watched a few movies. We had a blast and could think of no better way to spend our first week as husband and wife! We look forward to coming back! Dinner at Cocodimama in Gov. Harbour is a must, Sam will take care of you! Enjoy your stay

What can we say that hasn't been said already? First of all, we're sad to leave this beautiful place today but can't wait to plan our next trip here! We came for our honeymoon looking for a quite and relaxing getaway and found all that plus so much more. Stunning views (especially from right here at Finiterre), natural beauty, and kind people. We are truly lucky to have experienced Eleuthera together. We love the beach right here, though we only fot to swim here the first couple of days. On Thursday a big strom blew in - spectacular and amazing to watch. Since then the seas have been rough on the Atlantic side so we've spent our beach time at TenBay and Receivers Beaches. Though I prefer the ocean beaches overall, the crystal clear waters and beautiful flat seabed on the "Caribbean" side can't be beat! For our next trip I'm planning to snorkel properly and to check out more rocky areas underwater. The food has been terrific - conch fritters, cracked conch, grouper every way and some down home barbeque - YUM! Our favorites: Tippy's for lunch or dinner - loved the Mango Creme brulee for dessert! Mate & Jennys for grouper, concnh pizza, and my favorite Goombay Smash, lunch at the Bucaneer Club, and a really terrific dinner at Dolcevita for our last night here. Next time...there are so many things we can't wait to do when we return: we didn't make it down to Lighthouse beach (though we did spend a day at Harbour Island- nice for a day trip but we are so glad we stayed here in N. Palmetto Point. Also we hope to try some fishing- Andrew has said he'd show Matt the ropes if we come back. Andrew and Reta have been just wonderful, from helping us make plans prior to our arrival, making us feel so welcome here, and answering our questions about the island. We're most grateful for their help and truly enjoyed meeting such lovely people. This beautiful house and island have exceded our (high) expectations - we've truly fallen for Eleuthera. My Bahamian friend who recommended this island says "everybody needs a little Eleuthera in them" - I guess we can say we have a little bit in us now!, Thanks so much!

My niece Stacy was married on the 5th out on the beach at Sunset Villa - what a beautiful wedding! Jan and John washup up on our beach in a kyack yesterday - watch out for the waves! There area about 35 friends and family here scattered around the island and we're all having a wonderful time and lots of adventures. The stars are beautiful at night. Make sure to use the outside shower in the afternoon--it's very private and refreshing!

This place was made on Fine Earth for sure. We stayed for a week for my niece's wedding. My husband, daughter, sister and mother stayed at the house and my nephew and his girlfriend stayed in the cottage. Various friends and family members were in other houses around the island but ours was by far the best! The breezes, views, beach, were all wonderful! Thanks to Andrew for helping us get a car! The outdoor shower is great to use in the afternoon and very private. My mother said swimming in the ocean was like being in a giant bottle of green water. The stars at night are fantastic. The wedding on the beach was beautiful and Dr. Sea Breeze was great entertainment at some of our gatherings. What a unique and fun place! Andrew, your statement about Rita -- "I could pull a cruise ship up to the shore and she would not set foot on it", was hilarious!! I laugh everytime I think of that. Thank you for the wonderful memories! Pam, Ric, Jessica, Gina, Roxanne, Ryan & Leslie

Feb 18th – 25th, 2006We loved Finiterre and the beach here (our favorite). It was a priveledge to get to know Andrew and Reta a little better. Be sure to go to Nor’t Sides Cottages and Restaurant in Rock Sound. Go to Ocean Hole – continue straight past the hole and continue till the road ends in “T”. Go left as the sign directs toward the ocean. Rose is a great hostess and fantastic cook and the casual restaurant is perched on the edge of the ocean. Best food we had here. The cracked conch at Unique’s was good. Don’t have the Guava Duff!We did some snorkeling around the point to the right (South) and really enjoyed it. Saw a nice variety of fish and some good examples of brain coral and sea fans. The bicfycle with basked works fine the brakes are a little weak. (Don’t go down a steep hill) If you seen any boxed rum –vanilla tea (Island Rose brand) try it – it’s really good.Paul and Cathy M., Brewer, Maine.

Feb 4-11, 2006“We’ll be back…” Our 1st day was spen in Ft. Lauderdale, then a Holiday Inn after our flight was cancelled due to T-storms. We landed here early Sunday and we were thrilled with Finiterre---the view – the sounds of breezes and waves and the special accommodations leaving little to be desired. Everything mad us feel comfortable. Love the landscaping and layout, etc. Full Kitchen!!!Our 3rd Day greeted us with awesome weather. We took the kayakas out and padled up to Uniques – try the grouper Nanna? (salad on sweet bread). Snorkelling just out back was pretty good – not too many fish but more then we imagined. (One of the better places – come to find out--)4th day we explored Ten Bay and also snorkeled there. Saw a southern sting ray and we cruised along the North rock line. Lots of live sand dollars and some star fish. Not much reef.Day 5 we went to Lighthouse Beach ---- AWESOME---. Had this “best” beach to ourselves. Snorkleing was great, the topography/reef was fairly healthy – depth was about 18’ with great visibility. Thought the Caribbean side was slightly less picturesque, you can walk on rocks to the (???) at low tide and find a sweet little cave, private beach and awesome tidal pool. Againg we had this all to ourselves. Took just over an hour to drive, very bumpy the last 3 miles. Take H2O and food, etc.Day 6 – Went North to Surfers Beach. Today was a bit overcast and chilly. Surfers was very rough thought the best beach for seaglass (Hmmm… surfers + beer = lot’s of broken glass to collect???). We then went to Twin Sister’s Beach on Carib Side to check out some tamer seas and snorkeling again!). This beach had great rocky topography but was hard on the feet with more glass (not softened yet by the sea) and little sandy spots to sun in. Our way back we checked out both Hidden Beach and Rainbow Beach – both look good so we’ll check it out on our last full day.Day 7 – Well after much exploration we decided to stay at Finiterre today – it really is one of the most beautiful beaches we’ve seen. Last night went to tippy’s – excellent food but go early for table and better service (~ 6:00PM). Loved the back to way to Tippy’s “Northshore Drive”. Lovely weather, just wish the water had been 10 degrees warmer (I got a cold). Can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed our break here. Lovely home. Great spot. Andrew and Reta are super sweet (and a handsome couple)!!! Thanks for providng s

January 14, 2006Hello, we stayed at Finiterre 7 days. The first 4 days were cloudy and a little windy followed by 3 beautiful days. Mate and Jenny’s was our favorite restaurant we highly recommend the crawfish (lobster), also they have wonderful salads made with locally grown greens. The snorkel trip we arranged at a dive shop on Harbour Island was very nice but the water was a bit cold even with wet suits. Muriels Bakery was quite wonderful (coconut tarts), Yummy!! We never met Rita but Drew as very kind and we will miss him so we hope to explore much more next time we visit and hope to rent a more comfortable car. Bye, have Fun! Kristine and Thomas Boston, MA
